Guys, I have had a nice little exchange with the good folks in "customer care" at Toynami. Here's are some questions I had asked them in February: 1) Is the plan to have Hermes/Mom and Farnsworth/Chef Bender form a four-figure set with build-a-figure Roberto or will there be another two figures to come within the usual six figures? 2) Will the two versions of Mom be a single figure - ie, thin version with a removable fat suit? Hope so, as that would make for a very cool figure, rather than separate figures. 3) How is the overall health of the product line and are we likely to see it continue? So far it's been great, and with the Planet Express crew almost done, let's see some aliens like Morbo. And here is their reply earlier a few weeks ago: Thank you for your interest and support in our Futurama products! The Futurama line has exceed all of our wildest expectations and we are thrilled with the response and encouragement from fans and collectors like yourself. In regards to question #1, it will be a Roberto build-a-bot. #2, Will be a thin version with a removable fat suit. We plan on releasing the new four figures + the Roberto build a bot this year and if all continues to go well we will continue the line in 2010. Thanks for your support! Of interest to me here is the confirmation that it will in fact be a four-figure series down from six previously, which wasn't exactly clear previously, and that Mom is a thin figure with a fat suit, which was already confirmed. Not sure whether the move from six to four figures is a positive, neutral or negative development, but the tone of the response was certainly upbeat and it's good to hear that Toynami is pleased with the progress of the line. So let's all support this new four-figure series this year in the hopes of more to come in 2010!

Does anyone know for sure if there are plans for Toynami to re-release the Series 1 Fry and Zoidberg figures? I've tried contacting them a few times with this question but I've never received a response.

FYI: The new "Encore Collection" Fry & Bender set is available for pre-order at Entertainment Earth. Neither of these figures come with build-a-bot parts. Also, a representative at Toynami informed that they currently have no plans to re-release the Wave 1 Zoidberg figure, which, of course, sucks for all us who missed it and don't have $100 to burn on eBay.

Here's a link with a tentative release schedule and what we can expect in the next couple of waves. http://www.figures.com/databases/action.cgi?setup_file=fignews2.setup&category=actionfigures&topic=125&show_article=140Santa will finally get his arms and his tommy gun. About time if you ask me! After that we'll get the last two PE crew members with the first parts of Roberto. I wonder how he turned out. I hope he has that psychotic stare and that he comes with a stabbing knife! Encore collection. Good idea / bad idea? I think collectors who didn't know of the Futurama line at first aren't going to start a collection with Nudar and Calculon. So it's nice people get another chance to pick up Fry and Bender. Another encore series for 2010 could be Zoidberg and Zapp Brannigan. I wonder if we'll see a San Diego Comic Con exclusive this year...

The demand is there for the original Bender and Zoidberg, not sure about Fry. I've always thought wherever there is demand, toymakers should just keep putting out more stock, like Kenner/Hasbro has done for Star Wars figures with tweaks to the packaging to satisfy the collectors who want their original versions to remain distinctly identifiable. About this "encore" deal, Bender has already been rereleased. I was at a store in March and they had it in stock - held it in my hands, same figure, but without the Robot Devil pieces. From what I remember the packaging was slightly different in that there was no reference to the Robot Devil. So don't know about this August date - Bender again plus fry? Anyway, my guy told me that he can sell as much Bender stuff as they can put out. Turning to more important matters, at least for those of us lucky enough to have the earlier figures already, about these Figures.com dates: Future Futurama figure assortments include (all release dates tentative and subject to change):
* Series 06 - Leela as Clobberella & Amy Wong - May/June (Include the final components needed to build the fiendishly jolly Robot Santa!)
* Series 07 - Hermes & Professor Farnsworth w/ Nibbler - July/August (First series in the new Roberto Build-A-Bot collection!)
* Encore Collection - Series 1's Phillip J. Fry & Bender - July/August (Do not include Build-A-Bot pieces.)
* Series 08 - Chef Bender & Mom w/ Attachable Dress - October (Roberto Build-A-Bot mania continues!) I think we're bound to see Amy/Clobberella by this month or next, as it's been sooo long already. That said, if I were to scroll back through my earlier posts here, I probably said this already about April, March...*sigh*...oh well. But I have a good feeling this time. As for the other dates, in a perfect world they look reasonable, but we're talking about Toynami and Futurama here, so a reasonable schedule is hardly a given. Fortunately, these figures are worth the wait in my opinion.

I wouldn't worry about that - check out the views, this thread's at more than 4,300 and counting. Blows away any of the other threads in the PE stockroom and I'd imagine it'd be up there among all the active threads on this board. There's also a Futurama toys thread over at Creatus Maximus, which I'm active on as well. That one's at nearly 6,300 views now, which at a quick glance trails only Hasbro Star Wars among active threads there. So there's definitely interest in these Toynami Futurama toys, even if the number of people actually jumping in on the conversation isn't so huge. Keep the faith!
