Did the writers of this story have access to some of the earlier versions of Leela, as seen on the DVD's.

This was the most f*cked up issue ever, but it was so cleverly written, that I liked it! I can't wait for issue #8.

here's a summary:

The first of three what-if scenarios, loosly based on the Terminator movies.  To pass the time when the power fails on New Year's Eve, the Planet Express crew decides to ask the What-If machine, "What would it be like for Bender to travel back to the 20th century?".  Will the Bendernator find Phillip J Fry in his own time?  Will he Bendernate him?  Will the future be dominated by evil robots?  Find out in "New Year's Rockin' Evil!"

If the fans still buy them in sufficient numbers they will still make them presumably.

Try ordering them off the internet; that is how I got all mine, and they come in mint condition (usually sandwiched between 2 cardboard sheets, then shrinkwrapped, then 2 larger cardboard sheets are often taped over it.  They don't fold them and roll them up to make them fit.  The only problem is, buying them singly the shipping usually costs more than the comic.

At the comic book store here they always have a bunch of copies in stock, I guess the Bongo comics don't sell as well as they used to. If anyone needs copies, just let me know.     :)

Lousy bookstore was either sold out of #7 or they've stopped stocking Bongo comics.  Hopefully it's the former.

Maybe I'll try the scary comic shop downtown whenever I get bored.

Any reason why it would be there? If that's the actual name. If it's your description of the store, disregard the question. :)

For all you people who came in late and don't even know what Futurama comics are, here's what you've been missing!

#1: Fry buys 20th century sea monkeys, and with some help from gamma radiation, they grow to a gargantouan size and stop to destroy NNY.

#2: A delivery gone awray full of space pirates, unknown planets, and Nibbler eating everyone.

#3: Inez Wong competes with Leela to get the two last remaining little monsters called Newbies, to Inez's collection. What Inez doesn't know is that if all the different brand of Newbie's all come together, it'll turn into one giant monster Newbie that'll destroy the world!

#4: DOOP officials send Leela, Kif, Fry and Bender to a strange planet in order to save Zapp.

#5: Fry competes on the show "What wants to be a Gazillionaire" hosted by Morbo, in order to pay off Prof.'s tax depts.

#6: Another Xmas, another fear of being killed. But supposedly, not this year, as Robot Santa has been labelled good. But, Bender figures out the scheme brewed by Robot Santa, the Robot Devil and the worse of them all... President Nixon!

It was last month, when I got 1-6 except that one. I've been back once or twice, including rather recently to pick up #7.
Personally, I'm not in any rush since none of them are as good as the show (nothing is as good as the show...), but eh, I'll judge for myself. So far I defnitely like 5 the most, and 3 and 7 are on the low end. Not many people seem to agree with me, though, but after all, other people's reviews are always other people's reviews.

Consider it disregarded. I bought and read the comic today, and I can't say I liked it. The What If machine so far has always had some basis in reality. So why did it suddenly invent some wacky alternate "humans vs. robots" history for this story? Oh, that's right, so they could fit in a weak Terminator parody.

The jokes were alright, but Bender going back to the 20th century was a good premise, and I feel like they wasted it by doing a movie parody.

You crazy crazy man. I haven't read every issue(just 1, 3, 4, and 7), but I thought #4 was one of the better ones. Definitely better than 3 and 7.

Surprise! I actually own this one! No its true!

I was on march break with my family, trying to get to the virgin islands to catch a cruise ship. Buffalo NY. They cancelled our flight so we took a bus back to Canada and arrived in Toronto, then got a flight to Miami. I was sitting in the Miami airport, killing an hour, when I went to a stand that sold the usual stuff. But sitting on the shelf was a comic stand. Reaching forth, my hand shaking, I spun the stand until I was staring at Futurama comics and Simpsons comics. I bought them immediately.

This said, I have nothing to compare #7 to, (except the ones I read on the web) but I thought it was pretty good. Pretty funny, revealing pictures of Leela, you get the idea.

I got the UK edition of this recently, I haven't got the US version yet. Anyway, I love the Terminator films, and this was a neat parody. I loved how they used new story elements which took place in 1999 before Fry got frozen (even though it was just the What If machine, not real) Some of the artwork was really off though. Aside from that though, it was an enjoyable issue, and clool parody which was fitting to the Futurama Sci-Fi theme  :)

I just got this comic (Australian edition), and I've got mixed feelings. I thought the jokes were pretty good, as was naked/hooker Leela   ;), but the art was disappointing in parts. Also, I haven't seen any of the Terminator movies, so I couldn't really appreciate the plot, which seemed a bit weak to me. But what I know about Terminator I learned from MAD parodies, so don't listen to me (not that you would anyway).

Aaannyhow, my overall impression was:
  • Good dialogue
  • Average plot
  • Mediocre art

Good to hear this issue's finally out in Australia, I'll definately be buying it tomorrow.

And Zoidyzoid - you've NEVER seen ANY of the Terminator movies?!?!
