FUTURAMA COMICS #8 by Rogers, Lloyd, & Morrison
Be it hallucination, dream, or just wishful thinking, the Planet Express crew don tights, manifest extraordinary mutant powers, and get real ornery (and it isn't even time for lunch yet!). But when they discover a stranger in their midst, will the Professor, Wonder Boy, Uniclops, the Weather Mon, Lobstrosity, and Rouge embrace him with open arms, or cast him out into a hate-filled world intolerant of anyone who is different (or can drink a keg of Olde Fortran in one sitting)? Get ready for furious, fist-fightin', futuristic fun with the Planet Express Men!
FC, 32pg $2.50

Looks like that F-Men shot in the 2002 calendar was just a preview.

I love the 2002 calender :)

I don't suppose the comics are out in the UK are they?!

i guess that translate a comic is much more easy than translate an episode, because in a comic you only have to re-write from english to the new languaje, and in an episode not only that, but re-do all voices.

but in spain we have not any comics translated yet, only a few comics arrive here in english.

You know that's weird because I'm sure December of the 2001 calender shows something similar to what happens in issue #6.

December in the 2001 calendar? That just shows a pic of Bender being tortured by Robot Santa and the Robot Devil. It's August 2002 you're thinking of.

This can make a good plot for an AOI episode. Fry could be asking, "What if we would be defending our planet instead of working here?" I can see a lot going on there.

I now own a copy. I haven't read it yet, and won't be able to post a review 'til Saturday, but I just want to let everyone know that it IS available.

I picked up my copy as well. Love the cover - great take off of X-Men 94. I too will be reading it in the next couple of days and hope to have a review up at my site by early next week.  :)

You damn lucky people who can even buy the comics. I've searced everywhere for them here, but to no avail. I found a store on the net that sells them, but that's in the capital, square acroos the country, and they don't ship.  Why do they advertise on the net, if you have to pick up the goods yourself?

I think my only chance is from the States, but then there is shipping and tax and son on. God I wish I lived in America.

I bought #8 yesterday and with #1, this is the best damn issue yet. Lobstrocity, Benderine, Wonder Boy (named because it's a wonder he doesn't get killed after every adventure), Weather Mon, Uniclops and the rest rock. And the rest, is just great. If you don't have a copy yet, buy one NOW! And next issue, Prof. and Fry switch personalities, plans to be great too. In other news, Simpsons Comics #68 was pretty disappointing, they're just getting worse and worse unfortunatly.

Looks like I'll have to make a trip to the comic store to pick this one up.  I wish I could get it mailed to me like a subscription.

Great issue, even better if you're a comic fan. The artist seamlessly mixes Groening-esque character designs with Kirbytech backgrounds. And Rouge is sexxy. Mmm... Amy in spandex...

Okay, I'm back. Anyway, I give this book the lowest grade possible... an A++++.

I thought it was great too.  I just got mine Friday at my local "Things From Another World"(Best comic store ever!). The whole X-Men parody was great, as I've recently taken a liking to the Saturday morning cartoon.  I think the clerk gave me a weird look since I was wearing the girliest clothes ever and buying Futurama and X-Men:Evolution comics.  Ah well.  I come there every other month.  He'll get used to me.  :)

Sorry for bumping this old puppy, but guess who just recieved his Futurama comics today.

I've only read #4, #7 and #8 so far, but this issue (#8) is great. I've never watched the movie X-men or read the comics, but I loved this story. Wonder Boy and Lobstrosity.  :laff: This just flowed so beautifull, and easy, nothing seemed forced, as opposed to #7. Kryten might've enjoyed Rogue in spandex, I know I loved Uniclops equally. The ending seemed kinda anti-climatic, would've worked better as a What-If story, than a dream.

5/5. I hope the rest of the comics are equally good. I'll save them for another day, no need to read them all at once.

Bumped for Aussies.

I personally didn't like this issue as much as everyone else here did, although I guess that's because I've never actually read an issue of X-Men, hence most of the jokes were just lost on me. Still, art-wise it was a damn sight better than #7.

Oh well, it was in no way a terrible issue, I'm just saying it could've been better. Still, it had enough redeeming features to make it worth buying, and it gets better with the second read.

I'm giving it a 3/5... Don't kill me.   :)
