Some more unused captions would be a possible extra...

Well, Matt Groening wasn't lying when he said "See you on the next dvd commentary" at the end of THAIP's commentary...
I hope he goes into a bit more detail than a simple "This is futurama, and these are my favourite episodes" speech. I'd like him to say either:

"Futurama is dead, and there is no chance of it coming back", or

"Tune in for the new season of Futurama in 2007!"

It would be nice to see the matter settled from an official source instead of another year of "will they? won't they?" rumours.

But then, he most likely will stay away from the whole issue, and concentrate on the episodes, which would be great too. I wanna hear some more about the beastie boys recording.

IF there are new commetaries of course. Though the intro from Matt might be good if it has more than "these are episodes we chose as our favourites, hope you enjoy them Planet Pals!"

Nu-uh!

Even a five minute intro from MG wouldn't be worth $15. Why bother? Someone will probably tell us what he said, and the whole thing will find it's way into the internet.
As me, and others have said, there needs to be a full-length episode commentary. (Even if it was just MG and DXC. Preferably with one voice actor, namely Kategy Sagal and/or Frank Welker.)

That's dumb. You'd rather have a false "NO" than a true "maybe one day"?  Everyone on Futurama have gone onto new jobs, and Matt has always said fox has no desire to renew Futurama.  It's been officially dead for 3 years now or so.  The catch? Well, if Family Guy does well, fox may renew futurama.  Who knows.

Futurama has got to be the most fan-friendly show out there. I'm really excited about this disk. There's bound to be something cool on it. If nothing else I'll buy it for my little brother.

I like blowing my money on overpriced Futurama merch, but I'll be keeping an eye out for updates. Juicy behind the scenes stuff is good enough for me.

And judging on the price of the regular box sets, I doubt this is gonna pass eighteen dollars.

There really does need 2 be some extras. Otherwise I'd have 2 buy it purely on the though of Supporting Futurama. Which Hof course would be alright too. Some more commentary a bit off artwerk whatever, there needs 2 be something.

Probably won't buy it...maybe for a friend that I want to introduce to the utter greatness.

But it makes me happy that The Sting's on there. I've been hoping that I'd find a list of his favorite episodes, and I was hoping that if I found one, The Sting would be on it.

If it has more extras and isn't too expensive, I'll buy it (if it becomes available in Norway, that is). Groening picked great episodes. I was guessing on either "Luck Of The Fryish" or "Roswell That Ends Well" for the Season 3-episode, and I don't mind that RTEW was picked over my favorite episode. RTEW is really funny and among the best. But with that, I doubt they'll record new commentaries. RTEW already has two (one regular and one on the animation). How many commentaries can there be on an episode? Three seems a little much, but I wouldn’t mind it though. Let's just hope they'll record something new on the other episodes.

There doesn't even need to be new commentary on every episode. Just one would be enough. And they could have more commentary on "Roswell That Ends Well". (Just talk about the show in general, not necessarily about the episode. Also, new voice actors.)

On a completely unrelated matter, why didn't any of the commentators say anything about the "see you on some other channel" and the 'Futurama' picture on the TV screen in "The Devil's Hands Are Idle Playthings"?

My list of the episodes would be:

Fear of A Bot Planet
The Deep South
Time Keeps on Slipping
Roswell that Ends Well
The Sting

I know the episodes chosen would probably be the ones about Fry and Leela's relationship.  It's going to be good, anyway!

The problem with your list above, is that there are 5 episodes in it. There are only 4 seasons  :)

TKOS and RTEW are both from Season 3.

He probably mixed up the boadcast season with the production season. (There were 5 in broadcast, and 4 in production.)

Um, the episode information is on the first page of this thread, courtesy of futufan.

I really don't get the "Monster Robots Maniac Fun Collection" title, only the first and second ones really feature robots (unless "robot" is just thrown in for future-timey sounding-ness).  Anyhow, I won't be getting this unless there are some good special features. I would consider getting it for a gift or something for someone, though. I assume that MG's intros will make it to the web in some form or another (video, transcript, summaries, whatever).

I think the idea behind the name is that it's overly "wacky" in the sort of way that the name "Futurama" is. It all sounds very 1950's B-Movie, which is good  :)

^If that's true (which it most likely is), then I'm 100% sure I'll be picking this DVD up. The commentaries alone are worth it. It'd be cool if there was a video of a Table Read. Any chance of that happening futufan? (Although I doubt it.)
My hopes are raised for the potential extras on this disc. I just hope I'm not terribly dissapointed if there turns out to be no extras.
But most importantly, if you, futufan, ever get information on who will actually be on the commentary, please tell us Katey Sagal will be on at least one, that one preferably being on "The Sting". And please tell us that David X. Cohen and Matt Groening will be on them.

Good man, this is what I wanted to hear. Now that's all sorted and out of the way, any news on a R2 release? Got so used to getting Futurama DVDs before the American fans, would be a shame if this one was R1 only  :(

Yes! I was wrong! New commentaries sounds mighty good! I think my computer can play R1 DVDs, so I'll probably order that DVD... I really hope Katey Sagal is present in at least one commentary, preferably The Sting.

Unfortunately, from what I've heard, I can pretty much guarantee that there will NEVER (well, slim to no chance anyway) be a commentary from Katey Sagal. Don't ask why, as what I just said is what I've been told. But, on the upside, it looks like all 4 commentaries will have (among a few others) MG, DXC, JD and BW on them.

Oh, and to answer the R1/R2 question, it's definitely going to come out in America first (for a change). Sorry R2-ers, so far, there's no word whether or not you guys will get a R2 release.

Assuming the commentaries do make it on here, I'll likely pick this up (oh darn, I have to buy another Futurama dvd   ;) ).  Animatic sounds nice, but isn't essential to me.

Thanks for the info, Futufan.

Thanks a bunch for the info futufan.

I wonder why Katey Sagal can't do a commentary? Does she hate the show, does she honestly can't do a commentary because of schedule conflicts or something, or what?

I don't think FOX will be stupid enough to not release this DVD in Region 2. They'll want as much money as they can get, so they probably will. (But all that is just my opinion.)

But on the upside, at least David X. will be on it. And Region 1 finally gets something first! About time. In your face Region 2 people!   :D    :evillaugh:    :D

Noooooo! I can live with getting the DVD after the R1 fans, but I really hope it gets a R2 release... I can pick the R1 DVD up when I'm in the States this summer, but I'm not sure I'd be able to watch it back here. Stupid regions...
