Well, first off I'd like to say that I realize I have no life, otherwise I wouldn't have spent my time and money on this but hopefully it's worth it! LOL

I have crocheted a Zoidberg plushie that stands about 2 feet tall or so.

More pics can be found at  http://www.jenutech.com/crafts.html

Right now he's a bit naked shall we say but I'm in the process of making some clothes for him.  I'm just curious if there's a demand out there for crocheted plushies at all and how many people would be interested in buying them?  I'm also in the middle of crocheting up Bender (complete with cigar and a bottle of Olde Fortran) as well and I think Nibbler will be next.  Any other characters you folks would like to see, besides Leela and Fry?(They are going to get done after Nibbler)

I just kinda got the idea do create my own plushies and possibly sell some of them seeing as there aren't any plushies out there. (Well none that I've found anyway)  So would anyone be intetested in buying them, have any ideas for another character to do, want to buy just the crocheted pattern or whatever?  I'm still undecided what I'm going to do with them so I'm just trying to get a feel for things and see if anyone is interested.  (Questions and/or comments also welcome       :) )

My God, man. I would love to buy one of those, with the clothes. I'd like to see a horrible gelantinous blob, kif, and maybe a Morbo, also. If you were to sell them at an actual internet store or something, you'd be breaking copyright laws, although I'm sure Matt wouldn't mind, FOX would, Although, you could sell them on eBay, if you decide to, shoot us a link.  ;)

Wow, how long did it take you to make him? I'd certainly buy a nibbler or bender on the down low.  ;)

It only took me a couple weeks or so to complete.  It would have taken me less time if I didn't have to experiment with it and rip several rows out to get it looking the way I wanted. ;) That and the fact that I wrote down the pattern as I went along.  The next go around it shouldn't take quite as long to complete cause the pattern will already be established and such.

That's amazing work! You even serated his claws, nice attention to detail.

He'd be even cuter if you made him chubbier, with more stuffing. Also, it'd be a blast if you could make a 'summerguy' outfit.

I'll just parrot what everyone else has said, good job!  That's a nice looking Zoidberg you have there and the use of crochet gives him a unique look compared to the usual plushies.

I haven't really figured it out exactly.  The yarn for Zoidy cost me like $10 (CAD) and a few extra dollars for buttons on the labcoat and the material for his clothes (which I'm doing up a pattern right now)  I was kinda thinking around $30-$35 CAD plus S&H, mostly to cover the cost of supplies and a few bucks to me for the labour cause it is a bit time consuming.  :)(On a side note though, this gives me an excuse to sit on my butt and watch Futurama while I work. I hate to craft and not have any background noise on. I can work and play at the same time! he he he)

Once I get some more done up, I'll probably sell them on Ebay.  It may not be for a couple of weeks cause I'm actually crocheting some Care Bear plushies for X-Mas gifts that I need to send out early this year.  Once I get some more Futurama plushies done up, I'll let you guys/girls know.

Another side note, for the Nibble plushie, how big would you guys like to see him?  Should I make him the same size as Zoidberg and Bender or have them all in proportion in regards to height? (ie have him only like 6 inches tall or something.)

Wait a tic, Zoidy's two feet tall??

Da-yam.

Still, I don't care if he costs 35 bucks... for that size anyway. I'll wait... verrrry patiently. Again, kudos.

Nibbler should be about a foot tall I think, so I could carry him around like a baby. Would his eye stalk flop over or stay up?

It should be able to stand up if I stuff it firmly.  If not, wire could possibly be put inside.  I have a Minnie and Mickey Mouse  Crochet Pattern that says you can put some wire inside with their ears to have them stay up.  I'll have to play around with it but I'm sure it shouldn't be a problem if his eye stalk is is stuffed firmly.

I like how the eyes are made of golf balls. That's some damn impressive stuff for being homemade. I like it very much.

Yes. Yes they are.  I sewed them on to his head using a diamond tether.  <Flexo>Nah, I'm just kiddin'</Flexo>  :)
Actually his eyes are crocheted as well, which kinda gives it the golf ball look.  The pupils of his eyes are made out of felt.  Everything else on him is crocheted.  My digital camera isn't top-of-the-line so that's probably why the pic is a bit fuzzy

Bender still isn't finished cause I ran into some problems.  Nothing major, just made his body too big and that fact that there's a seam in the middle of his back.  So needless to say, I'm redoing his body.  I do have an arm (Which I may have to redo his hand, it looks a bit wonky) and 2 legs:

So any questions/comments/suggestions?

Would you send those things to Germany for example? Because I live there and I'd really really love to have at least a Zoidberg plushie.  :) Do you think you could finish some until December? *waves some Euro notes* *is all excited about the thought of having a Zoidberg plushie*  :D

COOL! They look excellent! Have you finished Zoidbergs clothes yet? You also could do a Horrible gelatinus blob or a Morbo one. I'd definitly buy one if I had money! (Which I don't)

To answer you question, sorta.  :) I'm actually working on his clothes as we speak (Well not right this second cause I'm at my computer typing!)  :D  I've got his pants finished and am currently working on his labcoat.  I had a heck of a time trying to find doll clothes with a style I could work with.  His labcoat is actually a toddlers pajama shirt but the style is the same.  I had to scan it into the computer and shrink it down quite a bit and now I'm just 'refining' the pattern by adding in some nips and tucks here and there so it will fit his particular body structure.  I'm going to have to do this with his shirt as well. Hopefully I'll have his clothes finished by this weekend. Once I do, I'll take some pics of him modalling his new duds! LOL

That all sounds really great, I'm looking forward to seeing the finished Zoidberg plushie!  :D How long do you think will it take you to manufacture one doll once you've worked out how to make everything? I'd really really love to get one until early December.  :) *waves with some notes again*
