I've been writing scribbling on yet another fan fic. Dunno if I will continue writing it. Mostly because it contains plot elements already explored at great length by peelers that write a lot better than me.

My poor self esteem aside.  roll eyes I thought I would post some of the first chapter here to see if it is received favorably. (If it is.. I might continue writing it.)  tongue

I give you A Red Letter Day.

Chapter One.
Sunrise.

The sun rose slowly over New New York as dawn made yet another unavoidable appearance. Bright beams of sunlight scattered and gleamed over the city that had draped itself in the remnants of an early morning rain. A few rays found their way through hastily drawn curtains in a small room in apartment 1i.

They crept slowly over a cluttered floor jumping over some empty fast food cartons. Paused briefly before skipping through a pile of Slurm Blue cans, sneaked past a half eaten pizza and dodged through some discarded clothing that consisted of a pair of black pants, a couple of boots and an old red jacket prior their arrival at a bed. There they gently prodded a head covered with purple hair. The owner of that head grunted a protest at the sudden rays of light and crept further under the covers to escape the intrusive sun.

As the sun rose, more rays of light joined the previous in their exploratory expedition of the small room, illuminating it further. Aside from the bed there where sparse with furniture in the room; a couple of chairs, a table and a small TV standing on a pedestal situated opposite of the bed. It was running an early news edition with the sound off. The view screen was partially obscured by a white t-shirt.

If the furniture was sparse, the assorted debris covering it was not. Old newspapers, candy wrappers, video games, ladies underwear and more empty Slurm Blue cans were just some of the items littering the furnishing. The only thing not covered by thrash and standing on solitude guard on the window ledge was a picture frame. In the frame was the face of Phillip J. Fry, delivery boy extraordinaire, wearing his trademark grin.

A soft knock on the door disturbed the sunlit silence. The purple haired person stirred under the bed covers but did not react further. A few seconds idled by as nothing more happened. A harder, more insistent knock made its presences known.

“Go away.” A sleep drenched muffled voice muttered from under the covers.
“Rana? Are you awake?” A woman’s voice asked through the closed door.

The covers where impatiently moved aside by a slender arm revealing a young woman in her late teens. Her eyes glared from underneath a purple fringe at the closed door.

“No, I’m dead! Leave the flowers and go away!”

The door swung open. Leela poked her head in and looked sternly at her daughter.

“You got ten minutes!!” She snapped before drawing the door to a close.

Rana muttered something under her breath before she climbed out of bed. She paused briefly before the photo of Fry.

“Miss you dad.”

Good story so far, Corvus.  Here's some upcoming fanfics from me coming in 2007:

Hooking the Line and Sinking It:  Fry, Bender, and Leela participate in a fishing contest where Fry is harrassed by a punk goth girl.  Leela and Bender refuse to help him because they believe Fry needs to learn to fight his own battles.

Spacecast Caper:  Fry, Bender, and Leela are on assignment in Arizona.  While there, they learn that two video game fanatics had their system called "Spacecast 4000" stolen from them.

I'll be writing these next year!  See you then!

Concreted Ideas;
Family Fry: Part 1: Love Tunnel of Horrors [currently posting]
Snippage;
‘I’m pregnant.’
‘What now?’
‘I’m pregnant.’
‘You’re not making any sense.’
‘Fry please; I’m being as plain as I can be.’ Leela said in exasperation. Fry stared blankly at her. Leela sighed,
‘Pregnant, you know?’ Leela’s clasped Fry’s hand to her toned stomach. ‘I’m… knocked up.’  A loud gasp emitted from Fry as realization dawned on him.
‘You’re pregnant?!’

Family Fry: Part 2: Panic at the Disco
Snippage;
Leela gasped and sat up in her bed in surprise, her hand going directly to her stomach which was swollen with her obvious pregnancy. She cringed.
‘Oh God, not now.’
Next to her, Fry murmured and turned over in his undisturbed sleep. His calm and peaceful face was revealed in the moonlight creeping through the curtain, the least Leela wanted to do was disturb him; he had done so much for her. But as the moments went quickly by she realised she had no choice.
‘Fry.’ She whispered fearfully, but to no response. She reached over and gave his shoulder a short shake.
‘Fry, please…’ Fry gave a grunt and tried to wave her off.
‘Wake up, please, I need you to wake up.’
‘Wassamatter?’ Fry slurred sleepily.
‘I need to go to the hospital, the baby’s coming.’

Family Fry: Part 3: Aeronautic Assassins Attack!
Not written yet >< nothing to snip.
Story Idea; Lucy's 4 years old and is in care of her granparents when the Brains have escaped their imploded prison, they attack earth once again while Fry and Leela are away on a mission. Will they get back in time to save earth?
Does Lucy have the same brainwave irregularity as her father?
Will the brains discover the Nibblonians plan and destroy it?
Dun Dun Duuunnnn

Polyester Girl
(set directly after Devil's Hands)
Bender falls in love with a foriegn made robot. But this robot can't love him back as she has a terrible secret of a terrible plan...
In the meantime, Leela's finally giving Fry a chance, can he impress, confess and woo her?

Here's another idea I had in mind.  Let me know what you all think:

Return to Mobius:  Fry, Bender, Leela, Amy, and Zoidberg all go back to Mobius for a delivery.  This time, they really do meet Sonic the Hedgehog and his friends, the Freedom Fighters.  However, Sonic and the Freedom Fighters challenge Bender and Leela to drag racing, which leads to dire consquences.

I'm not too sure if I'll write this one, though.  I will write the other fanfics I announced, though.

I'm working on it, and I will be done very soon. Fourty-two pages so far. That's with 'Verdana' font, size '8'. Should be finished sometime early next month. How 'bouts a quote/preview?

Really good fanfic.  Speaking of fanfics, I've been an a hiatus from writing them since I wrote "The Road to Fanzipar" which you can find on Futurama Madhouse.  Plus, I've been busy with real life stuff.   I'll write another fanfic soon whenever I get a chance  I'm not sure which idea I'll write first.

I think it's my best fic ever, actually. I really have you to thank for the idea. And good news! I finished it at said fourty-two pages yesterday. I just want to reread a few more times, maybe add a bit more character development, and then I'll format for UBB code and it'll be up.    smile

“But you saw how they were acting! I have to know what happens to me! I just have to! Now, I've wired this microscope to the cameras downstairs. We should be at least able to see them. Fry, would you like to look first?”

“Sure!... Hey, I can see Leela!”

“What's happened to me?” she axed.

   “Ha! You're fat!”

   “What!? Let me see!”

“Hey, I haven't seen me yet!”

   “I can.”

   “What do I look like?”

   “What?”

“Out of the way, you kids!” yelled the Professor, “Let me see me!”

He stared in for a few seconds. Then he stared straight ahead. Then he staggered away, with a look of shock upon his face.

   Bender leaned over.

   “Ohhhhhhh deeeeearrr...

“What is it?” asked Fry, “Is he fat?”

“Oh my, no. In fact, he's lost a bit of weight, actually.”

The first part of my final fic:

A-typical Delivery

is up on The Leela Zone for those who didn't follow it in my thread.
(I'm looking at you, ...everyone)

It's fixed up a lot and flows a bit better now.  The other part will be out in a couple weeks.

As everyone is probably aware, The Longest Journey Home has been pulled from circulation and will not be completed. If anyone is really desperate to know where it was heading after all this time, I’ve posted the working outline of the rest of the story in spoilers at the end of this post. If you want to avoid terrible clichés and/or disappointment, don’t read it. Those that didn’t see the first parts while they were available will have no idea what is happening, and should be warned that there are snu-snu references. Apologies for the long post.

They're actually pretty good.  The old guy's his own worst critic.  He seems to have a pretty good idea where he's going with his story.  It's a shame that he won't continue it.

So give yourself a little credit - you have two of us enjoying your story.

Thank you all: I know it was moderately popular for a time. One of the reasons I pulled it was because I still had to field the occasional email enquiring about an update: it wasn’t right to leave it out there with no hope of being finished. I don’t mind it being shared as long as that status is understood.

I like it; this is an impressive start to a good story. Leela and Rana have an interesting dynamic, and it's going to be interesting to see it played out, especially if the 'red letter day' refers to what I think it does. (i.e., the anniversary of Fry's death) And we haven't even seen how Rana interacts with the rest of the crew, or for that matter what's happened to them. If you need a beta-reader, I'd be happy to help; I'm looking forward to seeing how this develops.  smile

You are not the first to point out the dynamic between Leela and Rana as well as express an interest in seeing how that plays out.   cool

Rana will interact with selected parts of crew.. as for who that remains for you to see.  tongue

Being on a 2 week camping trip without any civilization or television or internet gave me a chance to think. It was nice, but I will not do it again any time soon.

Anyway, thought of a new fanfic that I plan on writing. Sorry Xanfor. I haven't done diddly squat when it comes to writing fanfictions. Or at least with the Futurama ones. They're all very cliched and stupid ripped right from movies and TV shows. I feel bad. I hate that I wrote such cheesy shit. Makes me wanna puke. No matter, Teral took them off FM a while ago so the Pandora's Box has been closed.

Irrigardless, I'm older, wiser, and more creative (maybe). I got's a plan.

Title: Universal Freak

Plot: It's a big What-If question: What if Seymour lived? Well we get to find out when the What-If machine breaks and creates a semi-false reality. (This is not suppose to be a sad story either, it's more like an Epic that starts with Seymour).

That's all I got for now. I'll give it more thought, but considering it's 1:30 in the AM I figured I share the idea for the hell of it. I'm bored with the shippy stories so I think it's time to break out with something weird.

I came up with this within the last hour, see how it flows.

Hmm not sure what you mean by that but I'll take it as a good thing none the less. Well I've been in Costa Rica for 2 weeks trying to decide if I should further the idea or not. In turn, I will continue it now that I have a better idea of what I want to write. So this will be a work-in-progress.

Thought I'd poke my head in here to babble a bit about my upcoming fanfic, 'Blame it on the Brain'. I know I've mentioned it a few times in my art thread, posted along with a few selected illustrations, but this project is becoming pretty exciting right now.

The epic monstrosity is shaping up to be almost novel-length; with about 70 pages done already, and I'm not even close to halfway through the story.
And it's got everything, baby! High-concept science-fiction, heart-pounding action sequences, philosophy, large scale space-opera, romance, humour, mythology, and SCRUFFY!

The short synopsis reads thusly:

Years have passed since Fry defeated the evil Brainspawn, and his forgotten heroism remains a blank page in history. However, the Universe will soon face a new menace. Old enemies are astir. And Fry, the Mighty One, must step forward one last time...

As it's gonna be my final fan-fiction, I'm really going out with a bang. Tackling the show's mythos and hammering together my own vision of finality that will probably be rendered obsolete by the upcoming DVD movies - but who cares!? It's a hell of a lot of fun so far.

Without further ado - here's a few selected excerpts from it, that I've neatly cropped so as not to give away too much:

I really wish this wasn't your last story, but I understand the need to move on to bigger and better things.  This is certainly shaping up to be a grand exit, though.
