Hi everybody, it's been A while since I posted, and I have news about the 3d episode Gwan and I have been making. He wrote the script and is finding sounds for the episode, while I make all the 3d stuff. It will be around 5 minutes long, and it will include the characters Zoidberg, the hobo robot, the Robot Devil, and surprisingly enough, Leg Mutant. The script is complete (I want to surprise you with the story, so I wont tell you much about it) And I'm almost done modeling the different sets in which the episode will take place.

Sorry about all the boring text, but I felt like I had to fill you in on why I haven't been posting many models lately.

However, This following stuff is actually important!
Gwan and I have had a problem with what to do about the dialogue. Obviously, we can't get the real voices, and the script is too complex for us to use bits and pieces of the dialogue fromactual episodes. We don't really want to use subtitles, because we've spent way too much time on this to have a weird silence every time someone talks, and I don't want subtitles to distract from the 3D. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do? Thanks.

Luckily, I know how to solve that if we decide to do a sequel.

If you had Nixon in there, I could provide an acceptably similar voice.  I think it may be time for you to do a casting call amongst your fellow PEELers.  There is a thread where people have been submitting recordings of their best impersonations; lemme see if I can find it for you.

(edit): Here it is: http://www.peelified.com/cgi-bin/Futurama/4-000418-1/

I also used to be able to do an OK Zoidberg, but alas, that has gone the way of the poodle, and primitive notions of modesty (which have been replaced by much stronger notions of modesty, so I won't be doing Zoidberg for you).

Ok, in that case, I guess I'll make it official: Anyone who can do a reasonable zoidberg, robot devil, bender, please send me an email, and I'll send you the script for recording. Please, I'm desperate for voices.

hobojobo,

great work! I would like to do something really crazy: Physical calculations with for example bender. I can give you more information if you like.
That's why I need 3d models. Could I please download bender anywhere?
I need to convert this into STL.

Thanks in advance!

After hours upon hours of tinkering with my renderer to make the motion blur come out right, I finally managed to compose a promo pic for this 3d episode we're making. Just to keep you interested:

Just in case you were wondering, the damn picture took 1 hour to render.

Yay! You figured out a way to get Zoidberg to ride the thing!

Hobo- Send. Me. The. Unused. Captions.

I've started the thing in flash, but I need them now.

Hey, you should have Cleaner run a windtunnel test on that one ... it's a perfect aerodynamics test, since it's something that's flying.

Also, are the first and second episodes available for download yet, or are you still working on that?  If so, linkage, please.

At below post:
Ohhhh ... he said "3d", not "3rd", as in "third".  I'm thoroughly embarassed now.

Second?

Only one is happening, and it's not downloadable yet.

Hobo- are you going to release a trailer or something as well? Like... 30 sec of it with cheese music?

Gwan- that's a really good idea, I think I'll try to do that this week.

Zoidberg227- Also a good idea, I'll email cleaner and see if he can do a test for it.

Everyone else, it's about time that I gave out a link to my 3d site. It's nothing special, but I do have one thing you might be interested in. I recently dug up an animation I made a long time ago, so I thought I'd post it. You'll notice that I used the slug model from Howard Day's Pizzarama (I hope that's ok with you). Everything else (story, animation, the other models) are my own creations. It's the movie that's the second from the bottom.  http://www.garynewmandesign.com/test/3D/

Hi folks!

For sure, I would do that test! Perhaps Zoidberg with water streaming around him could be a nice thing too and more realistic for an oversized shrimp  ;) I would try to simulate turbulence (eddies).

Zoidberg looks as though he's either gone insane or is concentrating very hard in that last pic, which is not a bad thing, your 3d skills are admirable  :) Good work!

Well, progress on our project is going ahead as planned. I made a brief test of Zoidberg's bones system, here's the link:  http://www.newmango.com/test/3d/zoidberg_walk.mov . Please check it out, comment on it, etc. I think it's around 400 kb, so use your own disgression as to weather you should try to download it or not.

I'm currently using 3ds Max 6. I really reccomend that you try 3d modeling, it's fun once you know the basics. You can get a 30 day trial at  http://nct.digitalriver.com/fulfill/0049.017

When I was looking for a hair plugin, I checked out Discreet's website for their shag fur (or whatever they're calling it now) and they want like $700 for it.  Me being the poor (and cheap) bastard person that I am I came across this free hair plugin to work with MAX.

I've worked with it for a bit, and have even rendered some test images (they look like tribbles   :D ) I just have to play around with it some more to change the color of the hair etc.

There's tutorials on their website as well.  It's a neat plugin, you add the hair and you can actually comb the hair in place or make it curly etc...  Here's the link in case you're interested:

Since all of the people who agreed to do voice acting for my fanfilm are lazy, and keep "forgetting" to record their lines, I am bored. This animation is a byproduct of that boredom.

Also, perhaps maybe possibly I might get some comments on this one? Please?

The animation is awesome!

You even went to the trouble of animating the mouthflaps, and the texture on the cloth looks great too, although it looks at bit weird right at the end when he's jumping around.

Fantastic work hobojobo, you're very talented.
