the title says what this is about. this isnt a review topic though, it is a quick poll i hope the MODs in all the knowledge and glory wont close. i want to know your opinion. Kenneth "kif" White, the author of this fabulous series of fan fics has said "there's no plans for a sequel. In fact, there *won't* be a sequel." i want to know what you think.

IT's Ken's fic so it is up to him if asequal is made in any capacity. Writing a sequal because people expect you to often turns out poor work (granted my second fic was not a sequal it was far poorer than my first fic)

If Ken want's to that's fine but I would not want to preassure him.

Writing something of the scale of UoM is a massive commitment in terms of unpaid time and effort. I think in cases like this we have to respect the author's decision.

i do respesct his decision, however this poll is to see who would LIKE a sequel not demanding one.

I can't imagine a sequel being worthwhile. Futurama without Fry??? It would never work...

maybe the sequel could be about getting Fry back. maybe his 'essence' survived in a bit of computer software that survived, or maybe the monster was continuously sending information to the even bigger monster that was supposedly waiting outside the edge of the Universe and Fry's conscousness was beamed to it. If i have learned anything from Buffy, it's that an unnatural death can be reversed.

Don't read if you haven't read the last parts of Universe of Malice:

Why would you be in a thread talking about a sequel to Uom if you hadn't read the last few chapters?? Obviously there would be spoilers!

If the man says that he's not writing a sequel, then there shouldn't be one.

Yeah, that's another thing that Joss Whedon stole from BSSM.   :p

im unsure about the whole "*wont* be writing a sequel" thing, is the *wont* like unsure or definite. anyway, i have a flaw in your argument, just coz someone says summat doesnt make it so, ie fox say they are not making any new futurama, that doesnt mean that there shouldnt be any. anyway, overall it is up to kenneth, but in my opinion there should be a sequel, there is just too many loose threads to tie up, and although he left it like that for a reason, for the reader to be able to have the ending they want, i think that a sequel would be very well recieved. after, it is his fanfic and therefore our opinions on the end should be irrelevent compared to his, its his story. i just really want to know how it ends and leaving it open ended like that was as annoying as it was brilliant, because i know that my version of events would nothing compared to kenneths.

Yeah, in my universe
but chances are Kif would go about it a completely different way.

Simple explanation: I don't want it to suffer from sequel syndrome, plus I don't really see a way of concluding it without a Disney-esque happy ending.

Do you plan on writing anymore Futurama fics? And if so do you have any ideas cooking up as of yet?

I'm not sure. I get the feeling I'll never better UoM from a personal standpoint. I do, however, have a rather nifty idea for a fic, but it would need some work. I'm not going to say what exactly, and besides, I'm not 100% I'll write it. I want to have a good break and actually *read* some fics for a while too. Delicious Surprise and Background Noise are first on my list.

Kif: A sequel would be a bad idea. It is over for better or worse. However, you have created a world full of wonderful characters. If anything, I think it would be worth getting to know some of these other characters and how they came to be where they are in UoM. Kinda like Star Wars, only not as sucky. As a favorite song of mine goes in it's last verse

So please don't take offense.
This is just a point of view
Cuz I'm the only one
who will say these things to you.

:D Take your much needed break and know whatever you decide, you have a reader in me :)

Hmmm... interesting idea. Though I don't know how I could really write histories for all the original characters and make it interesting without the crew there? Perhaps I should just make a site with character profiles/histories instead?

Naw, just kidding. You're right Allen, it's over now. No need to drag it out any longer. As much as I loved writing it and as much as I feel kind of empty now without it, better to let in end before it gets stale.

Kif you really shouldn't worry about your next fics bettering UOM. Fics should be taken with their own merits, not compared to others. I don't compare Krytens works with each other i doubt anyone would do it with yours.

fair enough, if that is how you feel, one thing i was wondering, im sure you said somewhere that you had thoughts on how it would end, could you possible tell us because, me being me, i need a definite end and as stated before, im sure i couldnt come up with such brilliant twists as you.

The end is whatever your imagination wants it to be!  <IMG SRC="http://peel.gotfuturama.com/ubb/biggrin.gif">

Seriously, there's little point me leaving it open-ended purposefully without complete closure and then just giving it to you. Sure, I have ideas as to what the solutions are for these problems, but I'm not going to just tell you :P
