CGEF just had a comic strip contest.  Those comic strips were good, but make me feel sad since I can't draw. However, when it comes to fanfics I feel like I have talent.  I propose that CGEF have a fanfic contest with prizes.  A writer can submit one of his/her fanfics and the same judges decide which fanfic is the best.

If anybody from CGEF is reading this please take this into consideration.

Well, poor old Marc and the boys don't have never ending supplies of Futurama DVDs, so I'm not sure how often they could actually have a competition, but I do think it is a good idea.

I actually dislike contests, it's tough to pick a winner and someone always ends up feeling lousy about themselves. That said, I'd most likely enter just for the pure hell of it. (Let's face it, Kryten would have to refrain from entering so someone else could win. ;)

I would enter just for the hell of it as well.  I believe Kryten would be one of the odds on favorite, though I would like to hear his thoughtson the subject.

Eh, sure, why the hell not.

I submit "The Oyster Syndrome". I think it's my best work.

That one is one of my top favorites.  I don't know which one I'd enter.

probably nothing, because no one's going to make that contest on CGEF.

<[-mArc-]> what am I? The DVD Salvation army?

It's so bad that I'm not even gonna bother to read your post. Leave me alone!

I know you probably won't have one, I was being hypothetical.  I still think you should take the time into consideration and not quickly say CGEF can't have one.  You have to admit there are great fanfic writers out there and it would be cool if they were recognized for their time and effort they put into writing their fanfics.  I think what I said in the email to <[-marc-]> should looked that.

I looked at it, but it isn't going to happen. I lack the time, motivation and the absence of better ways to spend money on CGEF. Even if these all were there, it would still be pretty pointless to submit already published fics (no gain for CGEF or the people reading CGEF) and asking for fics created for the contest only takes too long. No need to really argue about that though since the first three things aren't there.

the only problm with it would be is there are too many good fan scripts to rate one as the best.

fryfan, i think you can have that contest on your grade 6 english class. and i don't think anyone needs to announce the topic, because all of the stories will be about "fry + leela" anyway.  :p

I'm glad that I have support from Kryten, and others. CGEF may never have a fanfic contest, hey no problem.  I'm not going to sleep over it. I'm still going to write fanfics and I'm still going to poke fun at pop culture.
