A Fic Idea I Never Followed Through... But YOU Can!

Well the reason I slashed my idea is that I accidentally took a gander at the Futurama Comics that are in print... and what do you know, the Futurama people came up with my idea before me!

Its an idea that Fry catches a cold, but colds are deadly in the year 3000 because the only way to be safe is to have recieved a vaccination. Oddly enough I think the same as the Futurama writers, because that was really the basis of that comic book.

Anyhoo, if people are up to it, go ahead and please try to carry on my idea. If not, I don't care.
PS a good twist I had would be to suddenly switch the one sided love from Fry loving Leela to Leela loving Fry. Make her pay!

If you didn't go through with this fanfic because it was too similar to a Futurama Comic plot - I doubt anyone else will. Most people will only really use other people's fanfic ideas if they're really original. You gave up on this idea because it had been used in a comic, so if you're not going to use your idea because of this, I doubt anyone else will. Still, I'm just speaking out of what I've seen here so far.

Yeah, i don't think someone would use that idea LITERALLY, but with enough changes, and the key puns, dramatic moments and violence, it could be done. But personally i'd be just following that as inspiration, i'd probably change some things to make it original enough. Just my POV anyway.

Looking back over the general plot again - you could easily make the story original just by replacing the cold Fry catches with something else. Like, some other disease, illness or allergy. Or something like Fry gets bitten by some type of creature with deadly side-effects.

Obviously, these are just some suggestions - but I'm just saying that it can easily be made more original just by tweaking the "cold" bit.
