Virtual Seasons

I've tried to find information on this but couldn't find anything useful.

Is the planned "virtual seasons" of Futurama starting now that the last episode has been shown in the US (have to wait until Sunday here in the UK)? Will they be sticking to the humour and characters of the real thing? Is there a website for it? How often will new episodes be made and where will they be announced and displayed? And other such related questions...

Heh, we've been gathering and planning (and writing our practice episode) for like 2-3 months now, and we're starting production this week, now that the final episode of Futurama has aired. You can find more info on our forum - futuramaseasons.has.it or our website - futuramaseasons.cjb.net (although it's still in a pre-release state). You're welcome to join if you like.

EDIT:  Ok, having "checked it out", are any episodes done?  ALso, why is there a list of new Season 5 eps, but when I click on them, just a duplicate page comes up?  Are they 'Coming Soon'?

The episodes listed on the homepage has nothing to do with the episodes we have planned, the titles were just put up as example when we started the project. The website is still very much under construction.

The only ep we have completed yet is AOI3, as mentioned by Anarchist in our latest progress report. We're currently working on 5ACV01, but I can't say when it'll be ready yet.

EDIT: Oh yeah, there's a reason why you guys don't see anything new...but I'm not sure if I can say (ask the board mods).

So... I joined up. Where do you post your ideas? I have a very odd one... romance, angst, brief fleeting moment of Fry and Leela finally relating... you know, the whole shtick.

I'd tell you more but I'm keepin' to the code. I'll speak my idea in detail on the SP3K website as soon as someone tells me where I can.

Whoa this seems cool. But what kind of thing is it. Is it an actual animation or just a large fanfic. If the the Animation then count me in. I have already started one of my own.

It's virtual seasons made up of fanfictions. It's a fanproject aimed at continuing Matt and David's grand work. We plan to make regular tv seasons, with 20-24 episodes/ACV-production. We have fanartists among our members, so expect illustrations too.

Animating the episodes is not part of this project. We've discussed this, and at a very early stage rejected it. It's just written episodes. If someone takes the initiative to get animation fanproject going, contact us (Anarchist or Allen) about potential cooperation.

"Episodes" are in production. For more specific information on date of release, stay tuned.

i can animate short sequences up to 30 seconds in one day, so if you have a short sequence send it to me and i do it in flash.

i made a short animation in 15minutes, i used many motion tweens, so the lines look like crap,
but with more time i could make a good animation.
i know that it has no point and looks shitty, but i just felt i had to do it,

We've decided that we don't plan to have fully animated episodes. Short scenes weren't mentioned. We'll decide on this soon, and sign on any animators who want to join if we decide that this is something we want to do.
And good to see that there's still interest in our project!

Hey Bofr@ nice animation. Made me smile.

Just wondering if you tried useing shape hint before. I suppose you have considering that you had the paitience to actionscript a button, but if not you might want to look into it. It can stop all those lines crossing over when you shape tween fry head.

Like the style very much though. Nice drawing skills.

Right now, we're aiming towards early next year, it seems.  Hopefully sooner. i think we got our praticc ep done pretty much, and our first ep, along with some others, is under way.

Well, unlike the actual Futurama staff, we're not being paid to do this. A lot of us have college or high school to deal with. Rest assured, this project will see a premiere.

It's never too late. Just visit the board and ask about being a member. Note: Only full members can see the whole site. Just signing up doesn't make you a full member. You have to be activated.

Just to note: the move is temporary. The has.it redirector has been giving me hell the past couple of days, so I wasn't able to update it yet. The URL will remain futuramaseasons.has.it .
As for the premiere, we've pretty much agreed on January 1st. The first 2 or 3 episodes will be released right around then. (Seriously people, I don't know what happened. We should have gone "live" months ago. Damn human beings and their personal lives...)

If any of the redirectors doesn't support non-standard server ports, you can use http://oxonium.dk  which should be functional once the DNS updates.
