...how the hell do you make your own avatars? I'm despearte to give it a go.

well lazy way: I get a frame grab, open it in illustrator, lock down that layer, and then "trace" over it like a template. 

non lazy way I would just draw it in illustrator, but that doesn't happen a lot except for customs or changings things...
