Bah, I'm fed up of people who just criticise - who say they don't like it either verbally or otherwise, but then don't f*cking tell the artist why! (You can perhaps tell that the TLZ rank system is getting to me...) Jesse, I would be very upset if you felt you had to leave, especially if it was because some twee minded individuals moan around going "What's to be done with this FemJesse, memmemmemmemmah!"
I would have liked to think the overall majority of the PEEL community were better than that.
I dunno, maybe I'm just taking it out of proportion.

Anyway, I've said it before and I'll likely say it again; I love all your pics (last 3 for definite!). Your technique is great, the attention to detail is superb, the humour is fantastic, you've already proven yourself as a wonderful all round artist able to do several different styles, and very well too, and best of all you are completely unique!
People who shun that, are just philistines who are, as DT said, very closed minded. Yes and jealous too I think as well.

Wow, I go to work and come home late enough that I decide to wait until now to log on, and see this in the thread.

Femjesse, I don't know who the people are that have decided to criticize you behind your back, but I do feel sorry for them.  I have come to appreciate your artwork wholeheartedly, and feel that you do with the characters what some people  can do with really good fanfiction.  You are able to bring your own style to a series, done in a certain way, and can do it in a way that is fun, interesting, and makes people think.  I hope that you will come back, either to this thread, or to the board in general, you seem like a sincerely interesting person, of which there are far too few of these days. 

For the people who seem to get some kind of vicarious thrill of being able to say negative things about Femjesse, or anyone else, just remember, I don't know it for a fact, but, I believe that there is kharma, both good and bad.  If you wish to knowingly, and willingly, bring a person down, out of spite, or other negative emotions, then you are only bringing yourself down in the long run.  And isn't the long run what really counts, in the end.

I’ve been in the chat whilst people were discussing FemJesse and her work. I don’t know if I’m being accused or not so I’m going to have my say now. I don’t think that I’ve heard anyone say a mean thing about FemJesse. I think everyone agrees that it’s good. What I don’t agree with is the huge double standard that some people have on PEEL. When FJ posted her picture with her… special friend, I didn’t give a shit except for the fact that that sort of thing isn’t allowed on PEEL, at any time, by anyone. Everyone was quick to spout stuff about creativity and freedom of expression, but in the end, it’s no different from spammers and flamers. People that do that kind of thing gets the harshest treatment on PEEL, and people without a thick skin and spell check seldom last a week because of this.

I was going to do some quotes, but I don’t really feel like it anymore.

Anyway, the point is, I’m not really talking about FJ here. She told by [-mArc-] that she’s not allowed to post… explicit material and she probably won’t do it again. Fine, dandy, move on. However, what’s more annoying is that people will selectively defend things that are against the rules, or even insult people for enforcing them. I’ve yet to see a single person say something to someone who was making a cutting remark at some newb that doesn’t have the best grammar. It’s all the same thing.

My post summarized: FJ, don’t leave, people like you and your work, it’s good. Also, the rules are for everyone.

Ok, I have a few things to say. First I'll start with this to express my opinion of FJ leaving. *Loud NO! is heard throughout the Universe*

How in the world can anybody not like FJ's art? It's stunning! It could be heaps worse, but it's not.

Is this about the naked pics? If it is, I don't mind. Personally, I happen to think that it's nothing to be ashamed of. Clothes have become so much more than they need to be. I don't quite understand how a nude body can be traumatizing to anyone.

Anyway, this rant is over and someone can slap me in the head and tell me I'm wrong.

Please don't leave, FJ! It would make us all sad, especially me!

Grow up people. We're not in elementary school, middle school, or high school (well some of you are). Personally, I knew quite a few people in school who loved to insult their peers behind their backs. If they looked good or had a lot of money those people had a lot of fake friends who secretly loathed them on the inside.
But making fun of someone behind their back on the internet is just sad. You want people to criticize? Go outide, get a real life, get some real friends, and talk about them behind their back, asshole.
One of the reasons people insult FemJesse is because her pictures don't fit their standards of morality. Fuck you and your stupid beliefs. I'm a Christian but I can put aside my morals for five minutes, get off my goddamned high-horse, and notice good talent when I see it. The human body is perfectly natural and anyone who is shocked by seeing a naked cartoon or a naked woman for that matter is sad (and probably stupid depending on why their shocked) beyond words.

I like your work and your style FemJesse, and you do some great work. However PEEL has a certain line that i do think you've crossed. Full-frontal Leela and over-nakedness is too much for PEEL in my opinion, nothing wrong with the actual art, but PEEL isn't the place for it.

[-mArc-]'s view is if it wouldn't get on Futurama it won't get on PEEL, and i think he's got that about right.

I don't see why you should leave, far from it, but i think you need to reduce the nakedness you post on PEEL. Why don't you make your own site for some of these pictures, you'll still get us comming.

I mean, it's one thing not to like someone's art, but to critcize it? No, too low.  Ignore them.  Make art that shows you kicking their asses  . 

I'm pretty sure that the younger PEELers are capable of nudity, Futurama is a mature show. Just I think nude pics should be links instead of staright posts.  I personally can handle nude pics and I'm sure other young PEELers can too.

I like the colors and shadows in your latest pic.  Nice.

Nobody did. Not that I've seen or heard. I'm curious as to how you arrive at these conclusions without a story... nobody has a full story yet everyone has a very firmly held opinion.

Everyone keeps saying, "post it as a link" etc. etc. That's not the issue. The issue is that IT'S NOT ALLOWED. It has never been allowed. That's like campaigning to let, say, people to post porn or swap downloads or spam. It's all not allowed. There are rules. Just because it isn't popular doesn't mean it can be discarded.

And for those of you who are quick to jump on people like Margarita, I suggest you pick up a dictionary and look up the word discussion. It's different than "talking behind someones back". That's like saying: "Hey, never talk about a movie unless you have the director there, because thats talking behind his/her back."

From what I have seen, the rule is (taking notes for the FAQ anyone?):

THE PORN RULE:
1) If it is too racy for Futurama (ie. to make it to air) it's too much for PEEL.
2) Do not post said too racy picture.
3) Do not give a direct link to said picture either. It doesn't make it ok.
4) Linking to a site which may contain racy material is ok, probably. Each site is different. For example. FSAC has some... stuff on it. If you say: look at FSAC under (whatever artist), thats fine. As long as you can click the link without having to see anything offensive, you're probably in the clear.

Wrong! Totally 100% wrong. Art is there just like any creative outlet. You can complinemt or critisize it. It's part of discussing things. What's the point of a thread where all that happens is people say it's good. If you post what you don't like about said art it's just as good as saying you love it.

While, this is true, I know next to nothing about art. How it's done, the right angles, etc. All I can really say is that it looks good or bad. Which is sad, you need a critique on structure as well as how nice it looks.

I do know fanfiction. If I liked it, I try to say what I liked. If I don't like it, I'll say what I thought was wrong and might offer some help.

I can't do that here so I'll stick to this: "I may not know art, but I know what I like." I like FemJesse's art, that's all I really need or want to say.

James_OC, although by your post you seem to be an admirable, mature, and adaptable person (I'm a Catholic too, btw) what I was doing WAS against the rules.  I respect the rules.  I honestly was not aware at the time, and was posting by the limitations I thought I had seen in other artist's thread.  Well what I did was make an assumption really.

Chump, I have no beef with -marc-, just so you know.  As far as -marc- and I are concerned, we're totally metaphorically vegetarian.  I'm clear on the posting limitations now (its no lower nudity male or female and tasteful; nothing you wouldn't see on primetime television).  So IF I do any more fan art, we probably won't see anything, because I believe that having only female breasts exposed is totally cheesy [hard to make tasteful](and does not hinder me from drawing Fry covering himself pathetically, as they do on the show multiple times...).  Also: I've never really been a fan of *THAT* bodily fluid in art... only brain and heart blood... drool and all-purpose corner of the mouth foam (a regular body fluid I am pleased to have invented).  [Also where I come from, people squirt blood out their noses when they are having dirty thoughts and get a big, fat water drip behind their necks when they are embarassed]

This is a matter of people who make criticisms on art that they know I did a long time ago, but do it anyway because it makes them feel big.  Its also a matter of people who are unable to grasp some of my more mature CONCEPTS, and thus "not get" some of my jokes... then belittle me for some of my one liners that "don't make sense".

If you have a beef with me, and you're not afraid to be replied to with an answer that lets me defend myself, I actually WOULD rather you do it in my thread.  That way I can draw you a diagram or rip you a new one, in retaliation (go USA).  What I don't understand is if somebody really has THAT MUCH of a problem with my A. Concepts or B. Execution, why they regularly return to look at my stuff.  Maybe its perverted fascination.  Ah well.

Edit:  Hil, Slater is right.  Art exists to be critiqued and provoke thought.  It just doesn't help me when somebody doesn't have the nerve to say "I don't like this because..."  to my face.  Even an "I don't like this piece."  Is a better indication than gossipping behind someone's back.  Mostly, it lets me gauge what you guys want to see, and react according to my own tastes.  If I drew everything that's already been done or started doing scans of scenes that have already happened,  this thread would drop like a dead duck.  If somebody doesn't like something in the future, please note whether its the concept or the execution or both.  That helps me in the long run.
