Ok, about a few months back (March specifically), I said I had a portrait of a tiger I drew that was from this poster my sister gave to me for Christmas.  After quite some time, my girlfriend finally got a scanner and I can finally post the pic for viewing.  It was all done with a mechanical pencil and paper towels (for shading).

WHOA, That is simply stunning, shame it's not a Jaguar but hey ho.

You really ought to send that some magazines or galleries, and maybe find yourself an artists job, that is some talent you have.

Thanks everyone for the compliments.  It's been greatly appreciated.  This drawing took me about 2-3 weeks to complete, although the amount of time spent drawing was around 5-6 hours.  Being that the tiger is my favorite creature I knew that I had to draw one eventually.  The hardest part of the drawing, for me, was the whiskers because whiskers are supposed to be white/transparent and are shown as solid black instead.  On another note, I readily admit that I hate drawing with pencils because it gives me too much room for mistakes and making mistakes are sometimes hard to erase.  In a sense, I'm more comfortable drawing with a fine tip pen because it never dulls unless the ink runs out.

My next project, I'm going to give charcoal another try and hopefully turn out an even better result than this drawing.  That's going to be on hold until I get done putting together a couple of model car kits that I'm currently working on.

I know there have been questions in other threads about doing shading with penciling...  The way I've done it is to take a sheet of paper towel and tear off a size large enough to wrap around the tip of mechanical pencil and use the areas that have dark amounts of lead as a umm... filler and then going over areas that need to be darker than others.  Also helps to make lines dull where they need to be.  Of course, that's the cheaper alternative than to actually just buy a shading stick.
