Did anyone like the fan fiction Crash Course in Love by Astrozombie? I thought it was a near perfect take on the Fry+Leela relationship. With most of the scenes I could hear the characters in my head saying the lines in the fanfic. If you are a Fry+Leela fan I recomend you read this brilliant fanfic at Can't Get Enough Futurama.

Universe of Malice, part 15, is up at TLZ now, and, it's just...great.  I think that this chapter is very intense, with a lot of Leela oriented action, as well as appearances by Zapp, Fry and the gang, and some new characters as well.  The ending was great, and this fic, along with Delicious Surprise, are my two most anticipated reads currently.

<Gives it a 10 out of 10>

I don't think I said anything about UoM yet, but really, it's one of the best things I ever saw.

It was nice, but it didn't feel like Futurama IMO. Different style of writing, atmosphere and all.

Well, I'm putting this back on the first page. Plenty of new stuff to review people.

UoM: Coming along very nicely. No major complaints except that this is turning into a story you couldn't hope to finish in one day. (Mental note to self: Finish TFZ.)

An Eye for an Eye: Mice story so far, though I think I would have tried to go the route of being someone else. See if she can accept a man of Fry's flaws with one eye. Interesting read nonetheless.

theres nothing wrong with a story being to long to finish in one day. The bookstores are filled with books that take longer then a day to read. I prefer stories that are long. You can fit much more plot and charactor development in longer stories.

I've just finished reading Universe of Malice 16, and of course, it was great.  Man, I'm going to run out of descriptors if this keeps up.  The only thing that I had a small question about, was that Leela seemed a little more bitchy to Fry than usual in this segment.  I wonder, is that something to do with what happened to her in Chap. 15, and will this carry over to the latter parts of the story?

Man, this series is turning out to be the fan fic version of Sim's Cerebus, long, and interesting, from the very begginning to the eventual ending.

as usual i liked it, but it seemed kinda short to me, and i was hoping for a little more in the Fry/Leela/Alesia storyline.

EDIT: hey Kiff, exactly how is Alesia pronounced? Is it uh-lee-she-uh or
uh-lee-sea-uh

I've gotta agree with you Venus, that bothered me a little also.  That's just one more reason for me to not like Alesia.  If their whole family was like that, then she doesn't deserve Fry, but I wish that Leela wouldn't have been such a bitch to Fry in this segment.  I thought she'd have been happier to have seen him, know what I mean?

yeah, i do see what you mean but at the time i just chalked it up to her being under stress from everything that had happened to her that day, plus she's still upset at him for having Alesia around. She just strikes me as the type who gets snappy when shes scared. Which she had good reason to be.

I just think she was under a lot of stress, and besides, Leela does get bitchy when Fry screws up. I don't hate Alesia, i just think she's very confused, but she seems to have learnt her lesson. But, Kif will correct me if I'm mistaken.

Yeah, I was really annoyed how Leela is quite bitchy and not as caring to Fry as usual. But I think what Ken wants us to see is what Fry explained to Amy about Alesia and Leela, if you all remember that part.

Oh, alright...   :)

You all seem to have covered it pretty well between you: Leela has been under a lot of stress, so that combined with her still being bitter at Alesia has made her kind of snappy. And Fry saying stupid things doesn't help. Also, as Hil said, it also shows that Leela can be quite nasty and unloving towards Fry, as Fry said to Amy and Alesia overheard.

As for Grand Elder's attitude regarding Leela, that isn't personal at all. He was just worried about the safety of his people with Leela being around, and is angry that her presence alerted the Delphinians to them. He doesn't hate Leela, he just saw her as a threat to their safety.

but did he mean it? Cause any guy that can honestly say that he wished he had left a severly injured innocent woman alone to die is an instint villian in my book. It's not Leela's fault the delphinians spotted her it's Willow's. He was the one that insisted on taking her to the temple rather then giving her an explination in the safety of her room. He has no one to blame for anything but himself.

Oh, he was just angry at the time, and wouldn't have actually done that. So, no, he didn't really mean it.

And, yes, it's probably mostly his fault that they were spotted, though if Leela wasn't being sought after, the Delphinians wouldn't have been out and around.

Saying this all, it's up to you guys to make your own opinions and stance on what's happening. I'm just happy that so many people are treating the story and it's characters like they were real and not just the creations of a fan who likes to write, which is really important to me. So thanks to all of those who are into it enough to have these discussions and bring up these points  :)

what would be the fun in reading if we couldn't nitpick charactor motivations.

On a side note, i still don't trust the guy. Or his daughter. I'm just waiting for them to try to offer Leela up to the delphinians the second things start to go bad.

Part 9 of Missy's Delicious Surprise is up at TLZ, and what can I say, it's just, great.  This is probably one of the longest, relationship fics that I've read, and it keeps getting better and better for me.  I only wish that I could write half as well, for me, that'd be great.

Good job, Missy!  Looking forward to part 10.

Yeah, I agree. Great story so far, and the last chapter was no exception. I like the humorous approach to the honeymoon, rather than an overly shippy one. Make sit that more enjoyable.

I agree with Teral, the funny aproach is great and a bit more unexpected (at least i didn't see it coming). It's a great fic, unfortunately not one of my favorites which are crash course on love, the longest journey home and of course, Kif's Universe of malice. But still, i'm looking forward to the next chapter.

I actually just finished reading it and it was almost perfect. The ending is a little unbelievable.Their turn out needed to be a little more Fry and Leelaish.I was soo nervous during some parts that I almost started crying. But over all it was a really good fanfic.  :D   :D   :D I gave it 6 thumbs up  :D   :D   :D

Here's my recomendations:

Astrozombie's Crash course of Love, one that I read about every week.
 Kif White's Universe of Malice
Anything written by BumbleBeeTheta, she's one of the best relationship writers on the 'net
Anything that Kryten writes, especially Catatastrophe
Missy's A Delicious Surprise
Futurama_Hil's Birthday Surprise, a cute and funny story.

(Whoohoo, I'm a Starship Captain, finally.  Never thought I would get there)

I highly recommend "Son of the Ashes" by Christina Nordlander, whose first part was just released at TLZ a few minutes ago. Great story, and it just gets better from here (I had the privilege of seing a draft version of the entire thing) so keep an eye on this one.  :)

I just finished reading Missy's Delicious Surprise 10, and it's very good as usual.  She covers a bit more with Kif and Amy in this chapter,as well as one of their's( and Leela's) Children.  Great as always Missy!

Apparently Venus and Luis have already read it (since I edited this post after Venus's post)...

I have a story called A Time After. It's confusing but it just might work. The second chapter can be found here (if there's no dropdown menu):

Seems like a interesting story, Asylum, I presume it was inspired by the stuff in fan fic ideas? Someone trying to kill Leela? Also it looks shippy, which is excellent, but a shippy story written by a non-shipper? Can she pull it off?  :)

Shippy? As if.

Killing Leela? Again, as if... wait, did I reveal something?

It's more like angst and confusion and plots to take over the world. It's so much fun, by the time I finish it you'll be on anti-depressants.

Nah, I'm kidding, worse things have happened in fanfics, and besides, I only know the storyline, myself. I can be just as surprised as all of you while I'm writing, if I decide to make changes. Expect the third part by tonight.... at least, within 8 hours (I'll be busy this afternoon).

Which reminds me, if I feel like it I may scan a storyboard of the introduction that I doodled.

i read the newest UoM chapter, and once again, awesome as always. But can i say once again how much i hate Alesia? With each chapter she becomes harder and harder to identify with. She has the weirdest value system.
