I promise i havn't ditched on my fic yet. I know it's been like 6 months since i started and i'm only on the 48th page and i'm not even 2/3rds of the way through. I'm just lazy, but i havn't ditched!

Venus: looks like it’ll be worth waiting for: keep up the good work.

A few people have asked about my fic, so I’d better give an update: some of the next part is done, but now I’ve had a sniff of some freelance work. If it comes off I’ll be busy scanning and PDF-ing documents for quite a while, and with two Uni courses and my other ‘duties’, the fic and PEEL will have to go back on hold. Sorry, but I need to show the taxman that I do intend to work again at some point...

Wait[dons flame proof jacket.]OK. During the release of "The Matrix Reloaded", I wrote a fan-fic called "The Fry-Trix" which was loosly based on the film(the fic is at The Leela Zone Under the name Max Bellamy which is my name). Now, I'm planning on making a sequel scince it was moderatly well-recived. It will loosly be based on Matrix: Revolutions except it will be called, "The Fry-Trix: Re-Booted". I am currently planning it all in my head so the fic won't come in a while. Maybe in a month or two when I decide to finally write the thing. Whoever is reading this might be against this but it's a risk i'm going to have to take.

Hmmm... a tough one... Probably either the lastest song, or something that actually very cliched amongst rich people. Perhaps even something like The Sugarplum Fairy? :P

Well, along with that probably-not-very-helpful-sorry-Venus response, here's your spoiler for UoM 23, the second-last chapter. Not much happens, but this bit seemed to flow nicely off the keyboard and seemed like a good piece to give you all. Enjoy.

A single eye stared vaguely at the small yellow object that bobbed there amongst bergs of white foam, before the item was picked up by a pink-skinned hand to be examined more closely. The bright rubber thing was turned towards its observer, a mindlessly happy grin spread over a fake face. Painted eyes of no expression and an orange beak, the eye gazing at it frowned from beneath plastered violet locks.

"Ducks can't smile!" Leela snorted bitingly, then her hand squeezed the rubber lemon torso in a vicelike grip.

QUACK!

A large bubble was formed and blasted free from the underside of the duck along with its stereotypical call. The transparent orb floated in front of Leela's nose, and she pursed her lips and gently blew it away. Like a leaf caught in a gust, it randomly darted through the air, finally meeting one of the cool, dry points on the cold tap knob. There it burst into an invisible mist, and Leela sighed at the thought that Fry seemed just as fragile at the moment. She lowered and submerged her left arm, her grip on the rubber duck loosening to let the pool take it gently from her. Despite a violent crushing, the toy's euphoric smile remained.

"Where is that call from Troy?" she asked herself with impatient sadness, leaning the back of her head on the rim behind and staring up at the bright fluorescent lighting tubes above. "Fry's been in there for hours now! I hope she can help him... please, let her be able to help him, somebody has to help him..."

The bright pale rays from above made her almost feel like she was pleading to God or something. She closed her eye, a stream of liquid being wringed out from between her lashes to run down to her ear and drip off the lobe into the ocean around her.

"I'll do anything to help him..."

Leela was covered in water from the neck down, thick foamy bubbles sitting upon the warm liquid like frothy cake icing and hiding her bare body, not that there were any eyes present apart from her one and the pair on the silly duck. She had come here, a private bathroom for her quarters, to try and finally relax. She had spent days that felt like weeks racing around the universe for those gems and their staff parts, almost constantly on her feet with little rest or sleep, and often grubby and in fear for her life. She hadn't even slept in the Sheridan on Laplace much, despite the luxury. Finally, she had a chance to relax, now that everything had been done and it was just a matter of getting there. But while her body could unwind, her mind was far from a state of decompression. All she could think about was poor Fry. She had never seen him in such a mess. He couldn't even look at her and promise that he wasn't going to do something stupid. Like take his own life. He just seemed so... dead.

Leela shifted in the long tub with a sigh, now leaning her shoulders into the back left corner and flopping her right leg over the side, the back of her bent knee resting on the smooth top edge. A cloud of ivory suds, perched on the summit of that knee, slid down the glistening wet skin of her surfaced leg, like a toboggan down a frosty hill. They reached the tip of her toes, departing from them to set down softly on the bath mat just a few inches below. Her body was telling her the tub was comfortable, but her mind was telling her otherwise, and quite often the mind dominates when so deep in thought. If Counsellor Troy couldn't help Fry out, who could? And when she was taking so long with him, what progress was she making?

Leela grunted and pulled her leg back into the water roughly, sloshing a damp cluster of water and foam over the edge and onto the mat, erasing the existence of the soapy moraine that once lay there and creating new lathery patches. She sat again parallel to the bath in a relatively straight position. Very straight in fact, with no signs of relaxation at all. Her right arm was rigid now, lying along the long rim of the bath like a freshly felled log, her index finger on the end of it tapping impatiently with a dull clink against the enamel edge.

Beep, beep, beep, beep...

Leela gasped and looked to her right. She reached down with her nearest arm and picked up something from the floor beside the bath. It was her wrist computer, and it was the source of the noise. She pressed the flashing button on it, causing the beeping to cease, and letting a female voice proceed.

"Captain Leela? This is Councillor Troy. I’ve finished with him."

Leela sensed the tense nature of D'Anna's voice and frowned.

"Is everything alright, Counsellor?" she said into the wrist device with concern. A sigh or groan, hard to tell which for Leela, was the first sound of response.

"I think it's best I talk to you about this in person, Captain," D'Anna followed up with. Leela made a worried groan herself in the back of her throat.

"I... I'll be right there," she answered woefully.

You're ending at 24? Huh. Somehow i got it into my head that you were ending at 25. Was that ever true or do i need more sleep?

i do remember you saying that your last chap would be the longest ever. How long is long? i know you havn't written it yet so even you don't know yet, but how long is your current longest chapter? How long are your chapters on average? TLZ doesn't post page numbers so i havn't a clue how long your chaps generally are.

It was, waaaaay back via just speculation. I wasn't sure it would be 24 until around Chapter 19.

Well, I'm not sure about page numbers, but the longest chapter (18 I think?) was around 19,000 words. They seem to average around 13,000 to 15,000. Chapter 24 will be at least 20,000. Still... quality over quantity, it will by no means be over rushed. Don't be surprised if it's three months before the finale is out, I want to make sure it works. And I mean REALLY works. It has to be an ending to remember, and that will take time and effort.

War and peace is 1472 pages long. Kif said that his story was around 600 pages, so he's roughly 1/2 of the way there.

To be precise, up to Chapter 22, it's 709 pages and 236,564 words.

57 more pages and you'll beat J K Rowlings longest Harry Potter book (since it's really just one story I'm not sure but if you take each book indervidually then yes).
Besdies are you counting your pages as A4 or normal book sized pages?

Wow, 709 pages. My longest story is 30-35 pages. Just remember though, quality not quantity. *sighs* At this rate I'll never write my novel. I'm not even working on it. I'm writing another Futurama story. They're the only stories I seem to finish.

Is anyone interested in beta reading the first 54 pages of my Sting fic? I'm only about halfway through and i don't intend to release it until i'm all the way done. But i'd like to get the first half fixed before i keep going. I need someone fairly good with grammer cause i'm notorious for mixing 'then' and 'than', or 'to' and 'too' and stuff like that.

I'm extremely close to finishing my first draft, so will also be looking for Beta readers. Teral is probably my main one, with Loki (if I can persuade him again) one of equal rank, since he helped me to begin with - about a year ago now, plus of course he'll be my main critic on all the stuff I have set in Russia and spoken in Russian. I was wondering if anyone else wants to be a first draft beta reader as well. Currently most dialogues are in English though those supposed to be in Russian are marked in red - you'll have to use your imagination to feel the language gap. It's not quite finished yet, but will be roughly 370-380 pages A4 (about 170,000 words) - not nearly as long as UoM for sure, but it's still a big read and will also be all en mass (though I have added chapters in - just won't be releasing them chapter by chapter - all together at once, woohoo!)

Incidently, after that's finished and dusted, I'll happily be a beta reader in return

@Wu. Spelling and Grammar does mean much to me, but perhaps even more is the continuity. I'm mainly after beta readers who can tell me what they think of the story itself, rather than the grammar and spelling.

you sure? i don't think i ever mentioned that i'm not much of a comedy writer. So my story is basically all shippy drama. Think Lifetime movie of the week. So anyone who wants to beta read needs to have a high tolerance for that kinda stuff.

My wife has me sit with her and watch a half a dozen Lifetime movies a week, so I've got an idea of what you mean.  I love shippy stuff though, the more, the better.

I'm finishing up my rough draft of Leela Squared, part 5, and it looks to be pretty dark.  How dark? Take a look at this, and give me your opinion.  I may well up the rating on this chapter.

Fry’s mom: Fry, hurry up, you’ve got to give your dad his sponge bath, and then take Yancy Jr. out for his walk in the park.

Fry: Yancy’s got to go for a walk in the park, and I’ve got to help him? Since when do I do that, Mom?

Fry’s Mom: Since they went out together  two years ago, and had that accident! Since you were too stupid to finish up working on the car like you’d promised, and didn’t put the brake fluid in like you said you were going to do.  Since it’s your fault that your father ended up a cripple, and your brother Yancy is brain-damaged! Because of you Fry, ALL BECAUSE OF YOU!  WHY DIDN’T YOU JUST DIE BEFORE YOU WERE EVEN BORN?!  Things would have been so much simpler, for all of us, you stupid…

Fry’s mother turned around and stalked off, leaving Fry in tears, and wondering how much worse his life would get, when his mother came back in the door, and looked at him for a moment.

Fry’s mom: (Harshly)Oh yeah Fry, you’ve got to pick up your tux for the wedding Saturday.

Fry: Why, who’s getting married, mom?

Fry’s mom: (Rolling her eyes) Michelle, remember, you introduced her to that Panucci guy a little while back when you were dating, and you…God, how stupid are you!  Sometimes I think Yancy has got more active brain cells than you!

Fry felt the tears come back anew, and he hung his head for a moment, before he looked up at the ceiling.

Fry: This can’t be, this isn’t right, Leela, where are you? I know that I loved you, this can’t be happening, it can’t be, NO IT JUST ISN’T FAIR!  DAMN IT TO HELL, NOOOOO!

As Fry’s scream echoed around him, he fell to the ground weeping, unaware of eyes that had narrowed, and were now looking upon him with a curious type of pity.

Toymaker: (Smiling) Well, that’s one down, only three to go, now, who’s next?

Like I said, maybe a little dark, but in the context of the story, it makes sense, so let me know what you think, 'kay?

Incidently, I finished it after having a rather large re-readthrough, so I'm looking for people's opinions before I inflict it on all, and to give me constructive critism on how I wrote it. Also basically what they thought of the story too
