Everybody was doing it. I just wanted to be popular. </Bender>

I'd like to start everyone off with fanart for a show called Futurama-- who else has heard of it? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Shippy Leela and Fry (hands-- the bane of my existence!)

Zapp + colour vomit (definitely not finished, as you can tell from the wonky anatomy, sketchy painting, and amateur-looking text that serves as a placeholder. I'm slowly fixing him up as I go, I swear!)

And now some non-futurama stuff:

A character commission for a friend

Another commission in which somebody asked me to paint a Naruto and Game of Thrones crossover (you better believe i was paid handsomely for this one)

A very random sketchthing done about two days ago. The things in her hands are going to be branches.

Finally, have some of my own original characters from a story that's been in the works since 2007 (Yes, three different characters are macking on the redhead. She's the daughter of a successful shipping tycoon, so several men are after her father's wealth. Only one of them is actually in love with her... and he's a criminal :D )

Enjoy? And feel free to deface fix them in any way you see fit!

Holy cow, there's some serious artisticness going on here!  It's too much to take in all at once (in detail) but your "character commission for a friend" really stands out.

Thanks for sharing! (and this sort of baring of one's artistic soul has historically drawn the wrathful, petty criticisms of a certain negative Nancy, so pay them no mind if they start spouting off here)

Hey, we're dropping from Tachy's paragraphs to Danny's sentence to tyranik's sentence fragment. Next step is word.

Love the mood you convey in your art, Athena.  And the little details are really cool.

Thank you, everyone!

Yep, the commissions are the only pieces I actually invest any effort into, since they're for other people and have to look as close to perfect as possible. I haven't done any commissions since 2014 since I have a full time job that renders commission income moot. Plus I don't have much time or energy to do proper art these days, which is why everything I've done this year is doomed to remain sketchy, sloppy, and unfinished.

Ohhhhh look these colors :D i hope you finish that Zapp someday, its nice.

I stand corrected. Zapp will eventually be finished. I could never abandon my favourite character. :D

Be careful what you wish for. ;)

I thought I'd seen that first picture somewhere around here before...

...it turns out I had.

...and my one and only recent 'Rama fanart

Fixed it for you.

If I had any money, I'd commission you to do an enormous (eighty feet tall and thirty feet wide) oil painting of me wearing nothing but my Captain's hat, steering a three-masted Man-O-War in flames through an asteroid field in order to escape the event horizon of a black hole.

I think you could do it justice.

You should sign up over at deviantART if you haven't already. You've got some really good work here!

Yeah, it's good stuff!  So many great artists have resided here.  I swear that she mentioned her DA account once, but a quick Peel search comes up blank.  Perhaps I was misremembering?  As you know, memory is the second thing to go once you begin to approach my advanced age.

Haven't posted anything to this thread in a while. Actually, I haven't drawn anything in a very long time. Not Futurama, but peripherally related-- Bean and Luci from Disenchantment. I only spent maaaaybe a couple of hours on it, hence the sketchiness.

Also I do have a deviantART but it hasn't been updated in many years. I feel like Instagram and TikTok have become the internet's primary art platforms these days and may consider getting an account there once I actually have time to create things on the regular. I'm actually intimidated by how high-quality so many of the Instagram art accounts are so I've been reluctant to actually create one.

I did do a couple other Futurama fanarts just for all of you, so hopefully I can actually post the finished products here soon :)

Wow, that's great! Love the posture and expression, and the more realistic look. I haven't watched any Disenchantment since visiting FishyJeff, what seems like a decade ago, now :(

Thanks, Tachy! I still have yet to watch season 3 myself, but Disenchantment will always serve as a reminder of the nano-PEELathon that doubled as a "Welcome to Virginia" gesture. That does indeed feel like a decade ago.

The art is gorgeous!!! I love the realism of the characters including the Disenchantment portrait. I can only hope to sketch the outlines of something like that out. My graphic design courses have helped incredibly though.

Gimp is a lot better than it used to be.  All the docks were so confusing and made my ocaddhddd flare up.

Merry Xmas, everyone!

I've abandoned GIMP for Procreate (Hooray! My iPad is no longer a very expensive paperweight!) and have been trying to get my art mojo back as my goal is to turn illustration into a side gig. Did these a couple of months ago. These aren't much, just me copying referencing a few landscape photos and playing around with colors and other Procreate filters, but you gotta start somewhere, right?

No, your monitor's not broken-- the "glitchiness" was intentional.

Very cool. Is that glitching a fracturing of reality/virtual reality? I like the grey tone image with the mist. I use GIMP to touch up photos but never draw anything. Nice to hear that your iPad is productive again! Coincidentally, last week I pulled the ancient (2012?) iPad out of the bottom of the pile of cables in the living room basket and charged it up to use as a remote for my main stereo system that I also got working again.

This weekend I've been revisiting a lot of Peeler art and adding some pieces to my photo frame (I actually use the TV as a photo frame most of the time) and will definitely add a couple of these, too. I understand that making art is often 10% talent and 90% hard work and endless practice—which is why I avoid the occasional temptation to draw :)

The first one just makes me want to ski, and the last one - I don't know, but it's good. The middle one, though, it's very Tolkien-y, I quite like it.

Edit: I just noticed, are the birds in the middle one in 3D (anaglyph)? Kinda looks like it...
