Hi guys, my wife, daughter, and I recently dressed as Lrrr, Ndnd, and a Poppler for the UK's biggest sci-fi convention (SFX Weekender 3), and we won best costume!

The love for Futurama is still strong in Britain :)

Yeah, too right! I did meet some snooty types who didn't class it sci-fi!

We did have a good time. It was our first experience of a sci-fi convention, and was dead nervous when we went for the intial judging, but started to enjoy it afterwards, and the attention was very flattering.

Thanks x3 :) I've been a viewer for a while, but until now didn't have a reason to register.

I've been asked by a couple of people how I made the costumes, so If anyone else would like to see the construction process of Lrrr and Ndnd, I have put together a making of video:

Brilliant costumes! I think they're both spectacularly put together, and are very accurate representations of Lrrr/Ndnd. My only slight nitpick is that perhaps you should have built up Lrrr to be a bit more massive but I know adding mass adds weight, and decreases comfort so I can't reprimand you for that too much. You're the only one I've seen even take on the Omicronians, which earns many brownie points. You got a bonus of ten points for having the costumes actually look amazing and not half-baked.

Those are great! I'd imagine that a big character like Lrrr would be hard to replicate, but you've done a fine job of it. Kudos.

Thanks for your comments guys :0)

I know what you mean, I did worry about the accuracy of the costume for this reason. I am not able to portray the correct monster proportions despite being freakishly tall and towering over most people. She won't thank me for saying so but my wife has better proportions for her Ndnd character.

Bulking up the arms and legs with shaped foam or something could be done, and I may do this if I wear the costume again, but some how losing the length of my legs seems at best difficult, and probably not possible. At the end of it all I hoped that people would just concentrate on the face of Lrrr ;0)

Thanks for the feedback though, and i'm glad you think about these things like I do. I'd also like to make him look meaner for the next wear (possibly Halloween), I cheated a bit with the closed mouth and he kinda looks like far too happy a monster as a result. Lrrr should always be shouting at someone, or at least scowling!
