Great title, i know.

I'm a fan of Futurama for a few weeks and i tried to learn the Matt Groening style, but i failed! So then i tried to draw them in my own style. That worked out better (i think.)
anyhoo, i drew Leela in like a Greece Goddess costume thingie (i do not even know what it's called) and i made some other drawings on paper.
Here's the Leela one:

I'll scan the rest later.
Every advice, critique or something else is welcome. I want to learn  ;)

yeah, i suck at human anatomy.

Well for one,

Thanks for your advice. I draw in MS Paint and i hate it, but drawing in Jasc Paint Shop pro doesn't work for me either. And i tried Gimp, but i didn't get it. I guess i just have to learn and it's my own fault, not the program's. I used that lens flare to smooth up the lines but it does give a weird effect allright. i'll stop using that technique  ;)

I made a quick scribble of Leela, but i just found out my scanner is broken. i used my camera so sorry for the bad quality.

You really are incapable of giving an opinion on someone else's fanart without including a smug little put-down, aren't you? What a cunt.

But others should know not to feed him by responding to his comments, which can sometimes be a little harsh.

Behave!

As for me, I think your art is quite quaint and charming, and though I by no means have an artistic flare, I can see some things that need a little ironing out, but otherwise your design is really quite good.

I like it!

Are you trying to draw realistically or in your own style?

I think both... I'm not that good at drawing realistic. I hate drawing hands and feet, i'm so bad at it! So i think it's kind of a mix of two.

And thanks, pluche93 and futurama_freak1

@ Applepie:

You've stumbled on a great place for great tips.  There are several amatuer artists that are good enough to be professional artists and at least one professional artist (FemJesse) that hang out on PEEL.  All have their own techniques to arrive at their finished products, yet taking a little from each of them should allow you to develop your own style.

The only things that I can draw are flies, gnats and mosquitos during the summer, so I have a special fondness/jealousy of people who can take the pictures in their heads and place them on paper (or computer monitors).

And if you can't learn from them over the 'net, then you can always eat them for their talent; ah yes, their tasty talent.

Don't sweat it, hands and feet are amongst the hardest things to draw. But if you practice, you will improve. Fortunately you have two examples of each. :)

Sometimes you just need to relax with a big bucket of Ben&Jerry's and a magazine.

Midnight here, so i'm off to bed.
Hope some uploads The Late Philip J. Fry tomorrow!

@Ralph Snart: Yeah, i love this place. There are some great artists around here! Like Femjesse, Futurama_freak and El-man for example :D

@El-man: I'm gonna draw as many hands and feet as i can until i can do it flawlessly in my sleep ;)

I like the fact that the person on the magazine has one eye as well.

Nice drawing, a little rough, but it's expected if you're still leaning, and it's better than anything I could kick out of MS Paint.

Keep it up!

yeah i know it's rough, if i sketch in ms paint the lines get kind of raw.
i have to learn to draw in Gimp!
And lol, about the magazine, i didn't even notice that i drew only one eye. Silly me xD

Quick Leela sketch, not worthy of the name 'art', but i just thought i'd upload it. The lines are messy especially at her hips/legs but i made this in a few minutes.

and if you think: what the hell is that thing behind her? that's some lines pretending to be a planetexpress ship. Oh the shame  :laff:

I like it. I think her left arm is a little high (it almost looks detached) but overall I like it. You should upload some more sketches. Things that come from the pencil/pen usually look better than Paint, but your paint sketches look good. Also I like the little details in the gun.  :D

Nice art. I see you have your own unique style of drawing, especially with the hair. And Smarty's right, the gun is really well drawn with the triggers and stuff, I can't draw something like that without making a big mess out of it.

I tried to draw the real futurama style more. Hands and stuff aren't very neat, it was a quick sketch.

(i now see that i forgot to cut the piece where you see my hellokitty keyboard off the picture. :O_o:  :laff:)

Much closer to Groening's style. Keep it up.
