Nice work, Zed. It looks like they're hiking along the Scottish coast on a sunny but still cold day. However the magnificent scenery and ancient castles hold no interest for them, something more serious is weighing on their minds...

Excellent.
Did you intend to fill in any of the surroundings more, or is it finished as is?

I'm still fiddling with it.  The inside of the hangar isn't done, and there's some wiring that hooks from the power lines down to the PE building that I'd like to do if I can figure out how.  Also, the lighting sucks.  If I fix all that and still havent become distracted by some other project then yeah, I'll fill in some of the surroundings.

I'm using Maya.  There was a blue sky background when I rendered it, but it became transparent when I saved the file as a png.  *shrugs*

Since you are using Maya, try using a NURBs curve and then using a polygon cylinder to extrude along the NURBs curve.

To get the background back is easy, either save as a .jpg or remove the alpha mask before saving it as a .png or .psd

yeah, I don't think I want the background back, anyway.  I'm going to try and create something like the background that they use in the show

Yeah it will look better if you make your own, even its just 2d images on curved planes.

More work on my current model.

Poly count, 2537 faces or 4964 tris.
It has two sets of UV's one set for the head the other for the torso and limbs.

I'm sleepy and I decided to draw. Tried a messy style. I think it'll be nicer if I sketched it on paper and scan it and colour over it using photoshop.
