Hey, guess who's back AGAIN?

I'm like that cold that just won't go away.

In this link is a sketchdump, featuring some random Leela sketches. Need to get my butt into gear and draw some proper illustrations sooner or later... I keep saying I will, but by thunder I will this time!!

Bull. You're not like me at all. And you know nothing of my work.

Those are great. I love your style.

You come and go.  Do you think we'll just clap our hands in sudden joy when you make a long awaited appearence?

Well, we do.

Good to see you, even if it may be a short visit.

And, because this is relevant, a pretty little sketch for y'all. Just trying to get back into drawing Leela, and to a lesser extent, Fry and Bender. Mostly Bender. *mutters*

I'm also stealing secret borrowing Archonix's blue-lined sketches because they're fun.

Also, I'm a head in a jar. Template used, of course. I could never make a jar that nice. D:

And Fry is a cyclops... I was wondering what would have happened if Fry was in Leela's position, and visa-versa... however my brain exploded, because if Leela came from the 21st century, and Fry and... it's all crazy man!

All great, but especially your self-portrait, 'cause if you look like that then I'm putting on a clean shirt and cleaning the cheese out of my beard.

@F-Freak: What kind of girl would Leela be if she didn't have a cellphone in her gun? Or a gun in her cellphone haha

@coldangel: I tried to be as accurate as possible? haha I'll put on clean shirt too *nods*

... Uhm, just Photoshop I believe. I use the pen tool at about 6px with a minimum diameter of say 25%, then just sketch : P That's what I did for all my pictures, in terms of the basic sketch.

As for the image of my head in a jar... it was a little different. After I had my sketch, I inked it. So, with inking... I just go over the lines with the same brush with shape dynamics turned off. Also, make sure that the spacing is 0%

... and that's all I got! haha

Ah, Coldman, she's 15 or 16 years old.

She also has very protective parents.

Just a friendly warning.

And btw, Sarah has done commission work for me before.  She's better than she gives herself credit for, except one little thing:  Her self-portrait of her head in a jar isn't correct - she's actually a lot more attractive than the pic she posted in this thread.

Now Sarah's a classy chick, so a shower (with soap and clean water!), along with recently washed clothes and scraping the cheese out of your beard are the minimun requirements.

Alos, keep the profanity down to a minumum level - try not to say f*** or c*** more often than 2-3 times per sentence.

haha I'm 18 but thanks for the lovely concern Ralph. <3

Damn, where does the time go?  I remember back when you were a moderator for FMMB and just getting started with the art thing.

Now you're old enough to start college (I think you Aussies call it University).

That really moves me from "old" to positively "ancient" territory.

Take it as a compliment from a person who you did a piece of artwork for that was appreciated very much by the person who it was made for.  She still has it.

That's amazing. I'm so happy you liked it - and I've been thinking about university more and more... I've decided to become an animator if I can, and failing that, a games designer... Or voice actor! Whatever I can get into, really.

... And I swear like a sailor. Does that mean I have to stop swearing too?

Does that mean I can go for an 8 hour drive :p and be slightly less creppy

Considering the shape of the Australian game industry, chances of getting into that are very low. I've been applying as a art junior for a good part of the year.
If you can try and get into animationmentor.com, its just its uber expensive and its all online live from the US.

But worst comes to worst, I intend to find work in America... maybe... I'll see. But I'm determined as hell!! OH, and dude, I'm working on getting into the City of Heroes franchise... I have WoW waiting for me, same with Guild Wars, but I buy CoH in hopes to find something ELSE to play...

Hey, welcome back - I like the colours and linework on the leela pic, it's a nice style.

I've decided to become an animator if I can, and failing that, a games designer... Or voice actor! Whatever I can get into, really.

... And I swear like a sailor. Does that mean I have to stop swearing too?
Ha, I did my degree in the first and ended up as the second, in an indie capacity. It's a really fun job, you get complete creative control and just get to draw all day, mostly.

University should be easy enough to get into.. don't shy away from adding futurama work to your portfolio when applying.. it worked fine for me anyway. I can't say how worthwhile you'd find the education (you're already at a higher of ability than most first-year students, and animation/ film language can be learnt just as well with a good book or 5), but it's definitely a fun way to spend 3 years having fun and making lots of art. Showreels are the main thing that get people jobs, and they need to be top-notch.

The voice acting idea could work too, but it's more difficult than it looks.. needs a good range of realistic-not-over-exaggerated emotional expression and the ability to completely suppress any accent when needed (American accents are particularly bad for "leaking" into things.. often the person hiring and the actor are both american so they don't notice the problem at all).

And thanks for the nice and lengthy comment. <3

If you can voice act better then some of these you stand some chance.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ulbotKa5LnM&feature=subtivity

I did Game Art at TAFE for two years, but the economy went to shit when I graduated :( voice acting wasn't apart of it, but scripting was :\

Wss that before or after you ran over him with your car? :laff:

Before, he had to ask the entire class 'who's got the RS2000?' at the start of a lecture.

Thanks so much sick pickles. I find it kinda funny that people like the head in a jar that much haha

I'm gonna try and get a sketch or a picture up every day... at least for December. Just to see if I can SEE my progress! Yeah I'm that bored during the holiday season. <3

Yes, No, Shut Up!

Not my cleanest or nicest Leela, but the idea is there. And yes, the backwards hammer is a joke. Really, can you think of ANY reason Leela would actually be hammering the ship with a hammer? She's just trying to pretend she can't hear/see/talk to Fry.

I tried that once. And failed.. in a really spectacular sort of way. But I have faith that you're a better person than I.  :)

I like the slightly different cartoony twist to your work.. and don't you just love how a simple green circle can pass as the P.E ship?

She looks like she's about to have a painful Eye and Hammer experience, though...
