Just a little (written) update:

I started building the legs but they don't .... look that good at the moment. I'll post pictures when they're done.  :D

Ok, ok ...  ;)

Ps.: I'll change the right leg again. It looks a bit strange the way it does.

Say what?
It's a work-in-progress; it's supposed to look that way.
It seems to be developing quite well.
Not that it's any complement, but it's light-years ahead of anything I could produce!
Keep it up - and thank you for posting the image.

I'll just... ooze... back out under the door now...

Thx, but I'm not that happy with how the position of his legs turned out. Unfortunately I ruined one of the screw nuts on the left leg so I can't get it off anymore (what would be necessary to bend the leg again) and I don't like the right leg at all and since the materials I used are only worth a few cents ... I think I'll redo both of them.  :p

Ok, I changed my plans. I will finish his upper body first before I finish the rest of him because I'm not 100% sure about the legs at the moment.

There will be an update later (or tomorrow...).  :)

PS.: Happy new year 2010. Perhaps there is a chance that I'll finish the model this year. ;)

Well, regardless what you think is going on with the legs, it's coming along smashingly. The proportions look good, too.

I decided to lurk around the fan-art board, and I have to say that you're doing some fantastic work Bender-1729. This is probably the most in-depth fan-work I've seen by a PEELer. I'll have to remember this when the PEELies come around next week.

Thank you, i_c_weiner.  :)

@ sick pickles:

I'm happy with the proportions but I don't like the pose of the legs. They just don't look like they did in the drawing.

You see what I mean? ... Anyway ... here's the promised update. I added Bondo to his upper body which is now a perfect conic barrel. :)

Hmm.. maybe if you kept his right leg bent, but straightened his left leg out at an angle.. so he's sort of.. gesturing with his leg? You know?

I go away for, like a wekk, tops, and you go and just about finish the whole project! I missed out on quite a bit. Ok, not really. But still, you've gotten quite a bit done since the last time I visited your thread. He looks fantastic. I couldn't do better myself, not even with clay, which I can at least halfway work with.

Hi everyone!

Just in case you're wondering: Unfortunately I still have a lot of stuff to do at the moment which keeps me from finishing the Robot Devil project but I'll continue as soon as possible. I just wanted to let you know!  :)

In the meantime Robot Devil spends his spare time at the windowsill next to my computer looking at me ... which is kinda creepy by the way ...  :hmpf:  ;)

Well, who would have thought that, "as soon as possible" means nearly 1,5 years ... but I went through some serious sh*t the last few months. I'm sorry!

Anyway, I just decided to finally finish the project. That's why I drilled the holes for his arms and painted the upper body today.

Stay tuned for more updates.

Ps.: Robot devil spend his 1,5 years of vacation in a display cabinet next to my Darth Vader helmet ... Nice couple. ;)

Wow, your Robot Devil looks really great! :)

It'd be _also_ really cool if you show your work in the German forum (I'm also there) to bring more activity since there isn't much up. Thought of this because you'd shown your Robot Devil also there.

Update:

First I added Bondo to the lower body.

Then I sanded the whole thing and drilled the holes for his legs ans his tail.

and ...

I also tested the color for his arms, legs and his neck. In most scenes it's a red which is darker than the rest of his body but sometimes it's almost brown, so I took a very dark red. What do you think?

Thx everyone!

I just had an idea about "the other arm". Maybe he could be holding his top hat next to his head with it. Which of course means I would have to build a top hat, too ...

PS: I already got an idea how to build it. :D

What do you think?

Ok?

Second. Seriously, that's a fantastic looking model. Perhaps when he's finished, you could work on a forty-foot-tall version for your back yard.

I just noticed that there would be a problem with the top hat. It would be too heavy the way I planned to build it. :P

I think I'll just build an "ordinary" arm first and then come back to the top head when everything else is finished. Since the arms and legs will be mounted with only one screw nut it shouldn't be a problem to replace the right arm later.

By the way, I'm making progress with the arms but I don't know yet how to build his hands since the base is conic again. :P

Since I couldn't get the same color I used for his neck before, I had to repaint it, too. :P
