Yeah, I see your point. I have no idea how GIMP works, but I can guess. When I first started using photoshop to colour I had a hell of a time fiddling around with all that time-consuming layer stuff before I finally realized that by doing my line drawing with black ink and then converting the scan file to B&W mode I could just fill easily with the paintbucket tool without having to go over any lines with the mouse or fuck around with blotchy patches or anything. The only extra detail I add with the computer is shadowed areas ruled off with the line tool.

Those names look very finnish...
I assure you, they are not. I take care full gesture at creating these constructed languages, unfortunately, I did not create a writing system for those. I do have (not the only one, though) a piece of conversation: In case you wish to know what it says, I do have a conversation file of it, should be noted though, that this is a direct translation, and thus not pretty, in addition, the context is very obscure and unimportant. I forgot what I called this language, but I am sure it is in some files somewhere. There is a list stored here, but I cannot remember which of these were this one. So much for keeping information too many places.

Ahh, clever trick. I'e been playing around with a couple of languages for the peel nation states thread (for some reason I thought it'd make me more popular ), it's surprising how fun it can get going into all that detail.

I am also working on a map of a fictional world I originally anticipated for an RPG game, but since that never came about, I am just making the map for the sake of making it, here is the first uploaded piece (there are already many in progress): http://svip.deviantart.com/art/Map-of-Rac-Map-Piece-0-0-113751945This also contains another conlang, I think the description mentions it. I also created this language and writing system for another project. Inja was one of those cool writing systems I just created for the fun of it. However, it will most likely appear on the Rac map.

Oh, I'm sorry. I thought this was the Futurama message board, I must have stopped by the small talk average people message board by accident. My deepest apologies.

I'm a fine one to mention this but, is there not an "Off Topic" forum for this kind of thing? I'm oozing back out under the door just as fast as I can!

Language construction is an art, n'est pas?
I have to agree with Archonix here. The section is clearly called "Fan Art & Fiction". Language construction is an art, creating them for fiction is fiction. And well, we are fans of Futurama, aren't we? I am still uncertain if we meet the "&" requirement.

1) Irrelevant. 2) Ask Eliezer Zamenhof. I have to agree with Archonix here. You're allowed. The section is clearly called "Fan Art & Fiction". Language construction is an art, creating them for fiction is fiction. Perhaps valid, but not the point. And well, we are fans of Futurama, aren't we?
Wrong question. Is said art, fiction, etc., Futurama related? No, it is related to Nation States - for which we have the Off Topic forum. Now, so as not to drag this thread any further off topic, I'm doing everyone the best favor I can. [*SpaceCase bites own tongue*] I'll just ooze back out under the door...

I'd rather ask Tolkien, he did it as an art, rather than for function. And well, we are fans of Futurama, aren't we?

While I will agree that this is not Futurama related, I would have to on the strongest deny the rumours that this is Nation States related. Since when did fictional countries become Nation States related? That's like video clips becoming YouTube related. You would not want that, now would you? [*SpaceCase bites own tongue*] I'll just ooze back out under the door...
I won't help you biting it.

That seems like an awful lot of work to avoid doing a lot of work. I use PS and this is how I ink and color (normally) : 1. Scan/sketch image (always on a separate layer than that of the background) 2. Make new layer and Ink 3. Make new layer under the Ink work and color. I go into a lot of details (sorta) so I use tons of layers for what I'm doing. That way, I don't mess up the line art, or something else I've already colored. But, I also use a tablet so its a bit easier for me now. But I did once have just a mouse to work with so I know your pain.

RS 2thou - I thought it was something like that. Looking good.
songficcer - .........How do you make the colour stay inside the lines if it's another layer? And why would a woman be having sex with a bear?

Because I don't use the fill tool until after I've outlined an area of the picture with a specific color. Then I go back and repaint over the white line that will show up. Its just a cleaner way of doing it, I think. I used to do it the way you do, and became very frustrated because I felt limited with what I could do. But that's me. If your way works for you, awesome. I was just expressing my own opinion. ^_^ And he's not a bear. He's a tiger. And yes, I'm a furry but I won't rape your pets. Promise. Also, they're not having sex.
