I'm trying to get into creating movie type videos using Sony Vegas, but I'm at a loss of what to do.

About one year ago I tried doing one on the show called 'House' and I was basically going for a summary of what went on throughout the first two seasons, but it ended up being too complicated to manage to keep the drama without any of the medical stuff. I ended up doing a small trailer-esque thing that suffered greatly through YouTube's .flv converter.

I'd like to do one on Futurama, but there are some issues, of course. Nemero Uno: aspect ratio. Manage 16:9 (somehow) for the movie, or stay 4:3?, and Nemero Two: Make it about what? I've thought about doing a Fry movie, just him from the beginning, but there aren't enough clips for his early life available (off the top of my head). Maybe a Leela/Fry one? There's also just PE in general - a syntax of the seasons for people watching the movie and it's the first they've seen of the show.

Any ideas would be super.

Do one that focuses on physical action and epic settings in the series, using dramatic film-score music (I can send some to you), that makes the show look like a far-flung heroic space opera rather than a quirky sci-fi comedy.
Make it like a preview you might see in the cinema.

One man... A thousand years out of time... A billion miles from home... Is humanity's only hope.   Billy West. Katey Sagal. John Dimaggio. FUTURAMA.

And explosions. Have you ever seen a sci-fi trailer without big explosions or space laser battles?
A thought occurs: What about that scene from When Aliens Attack where Fry says: "Alright, scumwads. This one's for Bender's cocktail!" and shoots the Omicronian "mother ship".

Sounds great, by the way. Can't wait to see what you come up with!  :)

I think I'm going to do a trailer first to get in the swing of things again. No DVDs at all today, so no source materials that I want to use.  :( I'll get them tomorrow and hopefully have it relatively done by Thursday - but then again, I don't like release dates.

Did you want any dramatic film score type adventure music? If so, email me.

I too would suggest you do something like this, or make it about the Fry/Leela friendship/dating portions of the show, because there's a load of sweet moments you can pick out of each episode for the most part.

@Coldy: You're a genius for coming up with the whole "One man... A thousand years out of time... A billion miles from home... Is humanity's only hope.   Billy West. Katey Sagal. John Dimaggio. FUTURAMA" thing.

That's not why I'm a genius.

I'm a genius for creating the discrete energy curtain that is, as we speak, deflecting a storm of massive asteroids from destroying all life on Earth.

You can thank me later.

Yeah, the preview things sounds like a great idea although I'm sure that you'd have more than enough material to do something specifically on Leela and Fry's relationship.

@Coldy: I thought that was a legend!

Everything I do, and everything I am, is legendary. So in that sense, yes, you were right.

I've gotta get this co-op assignment out of the way first. I've actually got all day tomorrow to work on it, as we've had over 3ft of snow dropped on us today.

Or is it, "all day tonight?" :O

That really sounds like something Don "In a world where..." LaFontaine would say.

It reminded me of Pablo "Exact Copy Of the Preview Guy's Voice" Francisco.  That voice could make anything interesting.  'Specially the mundane.

I could see this being used, with the follow-up scene of:
"That's the mother ship."
"Then what did we just blow up?"
*looks*  "The Hubble Telescope."

'Cause it wouldn't be Futurama without a little of the funny thrown in the actiony stuff.

It'll definitely have a slowdown where a funny scene will come in - that one is a possibility to be used.

If only I could do Maurice LaMarche's Narrator voice...

Also Billy West's l337 voice skilz!  :p

I was going to say something witty, and mention another good scene, but it just slipped my... wait... headache with pictures... Yes!
It should also have a "NOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooo", like that clip from Calculon, or Bender's "We're doomed, doomed, DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-" (or whatever it is. I know that's not right, but... yeah...)

I don't know what I would choose: Billy's jamillion voices or Maurice's great ones (Brain, the Big Brain, HGB). I would kill a man to be able to talk like Randy though.

Trailer's coming along good. Decided to use a track by E.S. Posthumus for this one.

Doubt anybody's been waiting, but here's a PrintScreen to show you all where I am. There's about a night's worth of work left - what night isn't known though. It'll be done soon though.

Finished. Came out with a really low bit-rite so I could get it on Stage6. YouTube wasn't nice to my last video, so sorry, but no YouTube. FileFront link is available with the original render.

Stage6: http://www.stage6.com/user/MiniMe2/video/2017624/Futurama-Trailer

FileFront: http://files.filefront.com/futrmtrailermastavi/;9364196;/fileinfo.html

FYI (and mine), FileFront streams videos now, but they aren't as big as Stage6. Watch big, watch small or watch original - you choose.

WHOOOOO!!! Bender's cocktail made it in!
Haha lol! Great work! I particularly loved how it gets to the dramatic climax of the music then has the clip of Fry doing the "then we'll have pancakes to celebrate" thing. Kudos   :laff:
I'll be interested to see if you do any more of these. Are you planning to submit it to TLZ or one of the other sites?

EDIT: As every PEELer probably says at this point in their posting life: "Alright! I'm a delivery boy!"  :p

Thanks guys.  :) Not sure what TLZ is.

Interesting note: I had the "I'm a delivery boy" scene in there, but it didn't flow with everything else. Would've been fitting for you.

Submitted it to TLZ. Thanks for the link.  :)

And thanks PMD. Check out 'Unearthed' by E.S. Posthumus. They're a great group that make cinematic Electronic/Classic tracks.
