Yes, compared to somebody really good.  You are good approaching really good and before you know it, you'll be better than really good.

I'm afraid that I forgot to mention Cap't Skusking as one of the great Futurama artist.  He hasn't done a lot in quanity, but he damned sure has the quality to make up for it.

Now to plant a seed in your fertile mind.

Fry_B and I are avid motorcyclists and love wearing black leather.  Leela strikes me as a chick who would love to ride a bike.  Consider a pic of a black leather-clad Leela...

Ah, I can imagine it - I just wish I could draw it.

I dunno Maz; I've said some pretty stupid things... like that time we were at an African-American civil rights rally, and you brought me a black coffee, and I loudly announced that I hate black. Remember how fast we had to run?

Ralph - bikie Leela... I like it. Perhaps next time...

For now, here's something different:

Now, this has taken me about twelve hours to make... so I would appreciate it if you all spent a similar amount of time staring at it. It's a mock movie poster, obviously, for a big-screen adaptation of Futurama. Not quite as good as I was hoping for, but alright.

is it for the actual movie (Bender's Big score) or just for a mock movie? Either way it;'s pretty damn awesome!

edit: haha, I just realised that you put your initial on the i-c-weiner note....   :laff:

Not as good- [*ACK!*]

Coldy, it’s fine. It’s good; it’s very well done, and I’m not just saying that.
You seem to have the same mind-set as many other Futurama fan-artists and writers (myself among them); you’re your own harshest critic!

Now: Thank all these friendly people for their compliments, nod, smile, make nice, and quit talking down your own work!
[*Ahem*]
Now about the poster; it’s good, it’s funny, and I like it.
Thank you for posting it. I hope you will be gracing us with more as RL allows.  :D

Spacecase - I was going for a higher level of realism is all, but I seem to be constrained by the irresistible pull of my ingrained stylistic pattern. Also, Fry's face and Bender's pose disappoint me slightly considering it took me a whole day of work.
You're right, I am my own harshest critic, but I've been taught to be - in all things. Satisfaction breeds complacency and with that in mind one never has the drive to grow and improve. A complacent person thinks good enough is good enough and will never reach up toward what is better. I'm not 100% happy with anything I've ever done - art, literature, or life in general, and that means I will always strive to go one better every time. 'Good enough' is never good enough until it's perfect, and although perfection is unattainable, the dynamic struggle toward that goal means you keep getting better, as opposed to the complacent person who grows fat and stagnant and doesn't care because it's 'good enough'.

...Huhh... that's the most passionate rant I've had in a while...

But thank you all nonetheless, I'm glad you like it and I'll try to do something just a little bit better in future. And then something a little bit better than that... and then....

Non-Futurama art.

Sorry... This here's Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII, dressed in his Advent Children gear, for those who know what I'm talking about...
Cloud's taken some hits, but is still prepared to keep battling Sephiroth.

Heh, yeah. Maybe a phallic thing. You must remember that it isn't unrealistic for him though, because he's an enhanced 'supersoldier'. He can weild the whopping great thing with ease due to his boosted strength.
It's actually bigger than that in the game. :p

I just added a lens flare that I felt was needed.

You and that lens flare. If I didn't know any better...which I don't...

Everything is a phallic thing. Just 10 minutes ago I was typing something about 'shock' but I typoed it as 'schock' and then when I was trying to fix it I typoed it as 'shcock'.

I was thinking of getting the original buster sword done on my arm one day.

Yeah, Yuffie... maybe soon, but I won't bombard this Futurama forum with too much fan-art that's unrelated to Futurama. Just the occasional one here and there for variety.

Glad you liked that.

Hey Ralph, Mr Ralph Snart, if you stick your head in here: I tried emailing you to ask this but your account is blocking me as spam... heh, fair enough  :p.
I was gonna ask about dev-art. I'm looking at it, and I was wondering what all this stuff about 'prints' is about? If I put something up for sale as a print, do I make money from it, or does dev-art? Also, do they distribute the print themselves or do I have to?

Neat thread - there's some really nice ideas and technique here.

I've never been too keen on the anime style, but you seem to be pulling it off pretty well, paticularly with Leela's face (freckles are a cute extra, too)... only thing that bugs me is how Fry's expression always seems to default to "pissed off" when he just isn't like that. I dunno, maybe it's an overdose of your avatar getting to me  ;)

My favourites have got to be Zoidberg eating the pencil (pure awesome concept) the goth wedding and that Christmas pic.

I saw that one on Deviant Art.  That's one hell of a sword!

You can get a print account at Deviant Art, I don't have one so I don't really know how it works exactly but I *think* people order your prints, Deviant Art does the output and distribution and you get a commission.  But don't quote me on that.
