Awesome! The X-mas one made me melt down from shippiness and for one little seconds I actually felt a human emotion.Or maybe I felt anger because of the granade that exploded under my couch.I dont actually know which human emotion is which.

I have to agree. I don't like the emo kids, but the goths have a somewhat special place in my heart (at least the girls). And even though you dislike them, I think you did a really good job with that picture. Bravo coldangel, may you continue to make good fanart.

Glad you all like that. Here, I'll quote myself from another thread; my thoughts on goths: Heh... goth wankers irritate me. My sister hangs out with a bunch of them, and so I'm occassionally foced to listen to them piss and moan about their 'pain'. Makes me sick. Fuckin' pain?! They live in the lap of luxury in a paradise where all they need is served up to them on a silver platter. I'd like to drop the miserable losers into the middle of the Congo where people are hacking to each other to bits with machetes and see how quickly their definition of pain changes. No amount of black nail polish is gonna be able to express that shit. Stupid kids don't know how good they've got it. Maybe if I cut the throats of all their family members in front of them they'd get a better understanding and not take for granted the majesty of what they have (had?) here.
Couldn't agree with me more on that one. WOOTER, you crazy bastard, I like that idea! Furthermore, I think they both ought to be wasted beyond belief. An alternate scenario entered my head just now... a hillbilly shotgun wedding (costumes to match) with the Professor pointing a laser rifle into the small of Fry's back. ...The possibilities are endless... EDIT: As per Ralph Snart's request -

Unlucky - select an area with the magic wand tool, then you can apply a filter to that specific area. Ralph, glad you like it. If Shatner made out with Leela then Kirk certainly would. Tyraniak, thank you, but Don't think that I'm going to forget our pistol duel this afternoon.

It sounds like your sister's friends are emo. True goths don't just complain about everything, and the sub-culture generated itself in a time when people did have problems (anyone remember the 80's?). Emo kids give goths a bad name. Also new goths give goths a bad name, they mostly listen to garbage about killing either themselves or other people, but they're too chickenshit to follow through.

Hey, I loved the 80's. Anybody who actually lived in the 80's in the states and had time to complain about 'how bad things were' should be raped by Mr. T. Star Wars, Star Trek films, The A-Team, MTV, Ronald Reagan and me on Georgia Championship Wrestling. Damned, what a decade! The first time I met a Goth-chick, I actually laughed at her. The first time I met a Goth-guy and listened to him for more than two minutes, I threatened to kick his ass on general principle (he offended me by merely existing). I have precious little time to listen to whiny, self-absorbed kids talk about how horrible their lives are. Have them move to India or Africa for a week and deal with children who don't have enough to eat or clean drinking water or access to basic medical care then bitch about their 'horrible' lives. Emos offend me even more than Goths... Every damned one can slit their wrists - and I'll be glad to give them lessons how to do it correctly.

Funny you should say that... I was just trawling through DevArt (it finally let me make an account), and I saw a bunch of stuff on there that is so much better than my work that I'm almost ready to give up entirely because I will never match the scope and majesty of those other artists. No matter how good you are, there's always someone ten times better. And when you see something approaching perfection splashed before your eyes it either propells you onward with determination to match what you've seen, or it reveals to you the utter pointlessness of striving onward toward an unattainable goal. I think I put myself in the second category... I am known to give up rather easily... I mean, look at THIS: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/2889001/ And THIS: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/44926622/ I will never be that good. I just don't have it in me... so my choice is between accepting mediocrity or putting away the pencils and paper forever. I'll mull on it for a while. I rather dislike the idea of mediocrity. Oh, while I'm here, a silly little throwaway photoshop thing I threw together for no reason.

Dude, I'm going to tell you - FemJEsse and TheVoices were the two best Futurama artists ever. Very little is known about TheVoices, except he was very much a perfectionist and when he left, he deleted almost all of his pics - a true shame because that means the newbies and older Futurama fans will never enjoy his art. FemJesse is a professional - she has been doing art since she was a small child and is majoring in art in college at this time.
As you siad - no matter how good you are, somebody is better. But if you quit, then you'll never evolve to become as good as them. FemJesse didn't become as good as she is overnight, neither did TheVoices or the great artist on TLZ and TTP's.
Look at some of Marcus' early stuff - it wasn't great - some wasn't even that good, but it told a story. As he worked at it more, he got better and better and now he's one of the top Futurama artists around.
The same with you - when you first started, you had talent but it was untrained. Each time you put together a picture, small elements improve. Aslo, I have yet to see a single complaint about your submissions yet a lot of compliments and Marcus has kinda tried to give you some advice and help along the way. If you quit, a lot of us will be cheated out of enjoying your gift, but more importantly, you won't be able to evolve to that very top class that you desire to be, and I know you well enough to say you're very competative and being the best at anything you do is a driving force.
With more time and effort, you too can be as good as TheVoices and FemJesse (or Jackstraw on TTP's)
Just think about it before you throw away your graphite pencils.

lol! I love that - throwaway pics are the best, something immediate and striking about them As for concerns over arting, I put myself in the same category as you - seeing others' excellence makes me want to retreat, not advance myself. Not just in drawing, in absolutely everything. Dunno about you, but if I let myself retreat completely when someone else outshone me, I'd never do anything - I've found that _whatever_ I try, there's someone else who can do it (much) better. But I don't think there's any single person in the world who can do _all_ the things I do better than me - even if they're better at most of the things I do, there'll be something I can beat them in. It's not a question of being 'the best or nothing', it's about realising you have a range of gifts, talents, and abilities, a great list of things that make you impossible to emulate. It would be a great pity for you (and your many admirers!) if you decided to restrict your talents, to cut down your great range of abilities, for no really good reason. If what you do gives you pleasure (and it certainly gives others pleasure, though that's besides the point ), then why stop? That only lessens your range, makes it easier for others to overtake you overall. You're an uber talented artist who still works hard and improves the techniques and the scope of their work. Only way to _stop_ improving, and impoverish your unique range of abilities, is to stop out of self doubt Stop - or perhaps slow down - if it's not as much fun as it was, but don't stop because artistic creation is someone else's _strongest_ ability, that's self-defeating - I know from personal experience, trust me!

I have that same problem myself. Glad to see I'm not alone then! @coldangel: I agree with what both Ralph Snart and Marcus has said. So please don't fade in to obscurity!

Ugh... not even close to good enough. WHAT? To borrow a phrase, "Are YOU NUCKIN' FUTZ?" I have yet to see any of your art that isn't brilliantly executed! Open your eyes, man: You're good!Ralph's right; FemJesse and TheVoices are/were the two best Futurama fan-artists there are out there, period!Take it that your art compares favorably with theirs as high praise!
