Amy feel Fry tense up and silently swore as she remembered why they had broken up in the first place. She lifted her head and opened her mouth to apologize when Fry cut her off.
“Two firsts in a day” he muttered quietly.
“What?” asked Amy confusedly.
“No-one has ever said they love me before,” admitted Fry, almost sadly.
“What about your parents?”
Fry laughed coldly, “My mum was always watching sports and my dad was always busy preparing for a commie attack or beating me for being in the way.”
Amy flinched at the iciness in Fry’s voice, and at the fact Fry’s dad had beat him.
“Your dad beat you? That’s terrible!”
“I got used to it after the first few years,”
Amy was astonished, she had never known much about Fry’s past but the more she found out the more she felt sorry for him, and also a new found respect. That Fry had gone through years of beatings and still managed to become the good, caring man he was, it defied belief.
“I never knew…” was all Amy could murmur.
“I never told anyone,” said Fry simply, “So you’re the first person to know,”
Amy gasped, “Really?”
“Really,” confirmed Fry, “But anyway, how’s about we get ready for, say, lunch?”
“What about deliveries?”
“What about them, there’s no Captain, no delivery bot, and if you’ll go to lunch with me, no delivery boy.”
Amy smiled softly, “In that case, of course I’ll go to lunch with you Fry.”
“Good, oh and Amy…”
“I love you too,”
Leela slowly trudged back towards the shady bars when there was a blinding flash in front of her, and Nathan Binks appeared. Leela quickly started backing away, remembering that he had two swords and amazing powers. Nathan cocked his head to one side and watched her moving away, a smile creeping across his lips.
“You don’t have to look so scared, I’m not going to hurt you,” he said gently, moving forward and taking one of Leela’s hands.
“What do you want?” demanded Leela more confidently then she felt, making Nathan laugh. He swiftly kissed her hand and released it before answering.
“I don’t really want anything, but I think we got off to a bad start and I wanted to make it up to you,” he answered slyly.
“What do you mean?”
“Well all you saw was my assault on my brother, and I fear that you think badly of me for it. I couldn’t stand to have such a pretty lady think badly of me, so I decided I would find you and ask you to lunch. That way I can explain myself and hopefully learn more about you.”
Leela stared at Nathan in shock, “You want to take me to lunch, because you don’t want me to think badly of you?” she asked quietly, not quite believing it.
“In a nutshell, yes. So, will you go to lunch with me?”
Leela looked at Nathan, and then at the bars and back at Nathan, “Sure, I don’t have anything better to do.”
“Good, I hear there’s a nice restaurant called Elzar’s around here, shall we go there?”
“Alright then,” said Leela, allowing Nathan to take her arm and lead her.
Amy looked at Fry in surprise, not sure what to say.
“You love me?” she asked cautiously.
“I do Amy, and I’m sorry it took me so long to realise it, I was blinded by my lust for Leela and my massive amount of stupidity.”
“Aw, you’re not stupid Fry, just a little dense. I’m just glad you realised you love me at all,”
“Well I do and you love me too I think, shall we go to Elzar’s?”
“Defiantly!” said Amy, taking Fry’s arm and leading him out of the door.
