Seriously though, are you writing a sequel to your story? I can only attempt to remedy the former - on the latter, I’m afraid you’re on your own... The only Latin I ever learned was Pig-Latin!

All this academia is making my frontal lobe spasm.
As for questions of a sequel... not for a while 'cause I have a bunch of stuff to attend to; most notably trying to get my novel published. But if it pleases you I shall commit to write one *sometime* in the future. Thank you for your interest.

Hey ya'll, err... 'fans'?
I just watched the entire series of Firefly and the accompaning movie 'Serenity' for perhaps the fifteenth time. I love that series. It's funny that three of my all-time favourite TV Shows - Firefly, Cowboy Bebop, and Futurama - involve the exploits of a bunch of misfits floating around on a crappy old starship. Anyhow, I got to thinking that it would be a hell cool thing to write a crossover with Futurama and Firefly. I just wasn't sure how well something like that would go down... is anyone else a Firefly fan?

Well I'll see what I'm thinking next time I get in a writing mood. It seems like a great idea right now, but my mind has a habit of changing.

Sometimes in the space of a single sentence. I'm just a conflicted guy. The shrink called it 'borderline personality disorder'... but I proved him.

Okay, here comes fun. It'll be a while before I start posting it 'cause I wanna do a few pictures first, but I have started another fanfic... actually a lot sooner than I intended to. It's recently become blatantly obvious to me (after a few more manuscript rejections) that I'm never gonna be able to make any kind of living off my writing as it's evidently somewhat lacking. I've set my novel manuscript on fire and watched it burn - two years it took me to write, and nobody will ever read it. Hooray. Anyway. So now there's no reason why I shouldn't piss my mediocre talent away on geekish fanfiction that'll never earn me a red cent and disappear into the internet to be forgotten. It's a distraction at least, and fun for a fleeting moment. SO - I was thinking a Futurama/Firefly crossover but decided against - there'll be too many characters. Instead I'm gonna do a sequel to this one, which will be a fairly Bender-heavy story which will partly adapt events in an episode of Firefly (Jaynestown) as a homage. It's in the works. Beats opening my wrists anyway.

I am hoping against hope that there might be a publishing executive on here... maybe... perhaps.... who might take pity on me. I've written a full-length action/thriller set in Russia in the post-9/11. It's deep and emotive and often quite witty; it has spatterings of science fiction, conspiracy theories... it's heavy with pathos, lovable characters, even a bit of romance, and it's a damn good read. I just can't find anyone in Australia willing to pick it up. Not for lack of trying... I'm just going out of my brain over it. Anyone got any idea what I could do?

I know nothing about such things in Australia, but, in the US there’s the “Writers Guild of America.” Have you tried similar organizations there? Or am I a day late and a dollar short, as usual? Take this for what it’s worth: Some years ago, I bumped into a writer who went on to work for “8 Simple Rules.” (If you’ve been living in a cave for the last several years, this was the show in which Katy Sagal co-starred with the late John Ritter) I don’t even remember the man’s name any more - but I remember what he said. I quizzed him about what it takes to be a successful writer. His answer surprised me, because it wasn’t “talent,” it was perseverance! As best I can remember his words, it was “Perseverance... and talent helps too...” ColdAngel, please... take this as the encouragement I intend.

Yes. Thank you both. I do have a tendency to give up and martyr myself at the drop of a hat. Silly of me. Nevertheless, perseverence or no; fun or no, there's still the issue of me not being able to pay the rent.

I presume you have or are looking for an interim job to pay the bills?

Half-heartedly. I'm going through an interim 'don't care if I live or die' period. My main employer has given me three months off without pay because I lost my driver's licence and can't transport clients until January. I may be able to survive that time without seeking a temp job, or I may not. Don't really mind either way.
BTW: I started a new fanfic, called 'The Hero of Bot-any'.

I did some X-Files fanfics geological ages ago... they're still kicking around in my FanFiction.net account if you're at all interested. http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1181183/ I usually focus more on my own original stories though. Fanfic is just an occassional small amusement for me which I don't really put much effort into.

Thanks to your work, I'm looking at Futurama in a whole different light, an awesome light. Of course, I hope I'm not being ignorant of other people's fanfics, but yours is by-far the best sequel to the final episode I've ever read. I've read other sequels, and found them rather appalling, tbh.. Hang around more, bro, and if you ever get bored, toss together more pics and stuff
