 Ortus of Posterus – Birth of the Future

Chapter one

Leela and Fry were sitting on the sofa in their apartment, having a rather heated discussion.
“We have to tell them, they’ll find out eventually!” said Fry loudly.
“No way Fry, they’ll make a massive fuss about it!” countered Leela.
“They have every right to make a fuss, you’re having twins!”
“I know, and I’m a month away from giving birth, I don’t want a fuss made of me right now!”
“So does that mean I can stop doing all the cooking and cleaning?”
“No! You know what I mean Fry,”
“Come on honey, if we don’t tell them they’ll be hurt. Besides, did they make that much of a fuss when we got married?”
“Yes! They wanted us to have flamenco dancers and doves!”
“Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Anyway, we have to tell them, they’re your parents!”
Leela open her mouth to protest when she saw Fry making puppy dog eyes at her.
“Oh no, not the puppy dog eyes Fry, you know I can’t resist them!”
Fry grinned happily, “I know, so are we going to tell them?”
“Okay, we’ll tell them,” sighed Leela, a small smile gracing her lips.
“Yahoo!” cheered Fry merrily; bouncing up from the sofa and doing a victory dance, making Leela laugh out loud.
“If we’re going to tell them, let’s get it over with,” said Leela, stifling giggles at Fry’s antics.
“Right, here let me help you up,” said Fry, racing over to Leela’s side. Leela waved him off, ignoring his helping hands.
“Phillip J Fry, I am pregnant, not an invalid!” she said, in a mock angry voice that couldn’t quite contain her happiness. Fry pretended to be offended.
“Madame, you believe I am wouldn’t help you anyway?”
“That is my belief sir,” Leela giggled.
“Then I must prove you wrong! Here, take my hand and we shall venture forth together, I will help you every step of the way!” declared Fry, and he sounded so sincere that Leela couldn’t help but laugh again.
“Stop being silly Fry, let’s go see my parents and tell them the news.”

“Oh my goodness, this is fantastic news Leela honey!” screamed an ecstatic Munda.
“This calls for a celebration, who wants tequila?” asked Morris.
“Don’t be so silly, Leela can’t drink, she’s pregnant!” chastised Munda, fixing a withering glare on Morris.
“What’s stopping the rest of us,” he asked indifferently.
“MORRIS!” yelled Munda. Morris took the hint and became quiet. Munda then turned her attention to Fry.
“I just wanted to thank you; you’ve done so much since you came into Leela’s life. First you introduced her to us, then you put up with her stubborn behaviour…”
“Mother!”
“…Its true dear, I’m afraid you get that off me. Anyway, you put up with her stubborn behaviour and made her happy, you married her and now you’re giving us grandchildren!” gushed Munda to an uncomfortable Fry.
“I’m just happy Leela loves me,” blushed Fry embarrassedly. 
“Of course she does, why if I were a few years younger…”
“Mum!”
“Munda!”
“Sorry Leela dear, just my way of saying that you’re a very lucky girl,” said Munda
“And with Fry you always will be,” added Morris. Leela gazed at Fry lovingly.
“I know,” she said simply.
“Right, now you’re a month away from birth so we need to hurry and arrange the baby shower. I’m thinking that it should be big, a multicoloured laser show would be nice, I’m sure your friend Bender could handle that…”

A few hours later…
“Maybe some of those lovely doves you have on the surface and that should about wrap it up,” finished Munda. Leela cast Fry an ‘I told you so’ look and then faced her mother.
“Mum, that all sounds lovely but I don’t thing it’d be a good idea to have such a fuss so near to when I’m going to give birth,”
“So no doves?” asked Munda.
“How about we do something more traditional? A small gathering of close family and friends, not too much fuss,”
“So no flamenco dancers either?”
“All we want is a little music, our family and friends to be there and presents,” stated Leela.
“Oh, okay then,” said Munda, slightly disappointed that her plans had been changed, “It sounds lovely Leela dear, you just tell us the date and we’ll come,”
Leela stood up, “Talk again soon,” she said, giving her parents a kiss each. She took hold of Fry’s hand and led him out quickly, just giving him time to shout bye and wave.

Wait,their apartment?Oh ye almost right before the wedding Leela said they'll live in her apt.
It's great your continuing the fic and that you didn't make Leela's parents upset that Leela told them only a month before giving birth.

Coldy's on his break. And he prefers to be addressed as 'Mr. Coldangel' or simply 'Sir'.

Great update jle. I do wonder what disgusting item Zoidberg would give the expecting parents at their baby shower. Perhaps his first baby shell.
