Part 16

Leela’s jaw dropped, “What the hell! You’re dead, Fry shot you!”
“Phillip never was that smart, he forgot to change the setting from stun to kill,” explained Zapp with a self-satisfied grin.
“But you threatened to kill me!”
“Threatened my purple dove, threatened. The stun setting gives a full impression of death, and it would have killed Phil’s kid too.”
“Stun…full impression…not actual…but that means…that means…Fry’s not dead!” spluttered Leela. This new information took a moment to sink in, but as soon as it had Leela was of sprinting towards the Love-nasium.

“Fry’s not dead, Fry’s not dead!” cried Leela joyously as she ran towards the Love-nasium. A train of thoughts thundered through her mind, all of them happy and relived. If Fry wasn’t dead then she could still be happy, she wouldn’t have to be alone, their children would have a daddy. She would still have her husband! All she had to do was find him and wake him up. She approached the door to her happiness and flung it open.

She saw Fry barely awake on the floor, crawling back to the gun.
“Gotta finish it,” he wheezed, moving with slow, jerky motions. Leela saw his fingers reaching for the gun, and swiftly raced over and kicked the pistol out of his reach.
“No Fry!” she yelled. Fry lifted his head to look at Leela, a sad, far away look in his eyes.
“I’m a murderer, I killed Zapp. Now I’ll get what I deserve,” Fry stated with his voice full of regret.
“But you didn’t kill him, you only stunned him, you don’t have to die!” explained Leela desperately. Fry’s dull eyes lighted with a faint spark of hope.
“I didn’t kill him?”
“No, He’s alive!”

Fry attempted to stand up, but his knees buckled under him and he fell to the floor again. Leela crouched down next to him and put his arm around her shoulders, and then she stood up with Fry leaning against her.
“Thank God! I couldn’t live with myself if I’d killed him,” Fry exclaimed.
“And I couldn’t live without you, don’t you ever do something like that again!” ordered Leela, her voice laced with concern.
“Sorry Leela,” apologised Fry quietly. Leela turned and put Fry’s other arm around her and embraced him softly.
“I love you Fry, I couldn’t stay being without you,” she whispered, her mouth so close to his, that he could feel her breath as she spoke. She closed the last of the space and kissed him, showing him just how much she’d miss him.

As she drew back, Fry had a goofy grin on his face.
“Let’s go to the bridge,” she suggested, “We need to deal with Zapp,”
Fry gulped, “Okay, let’s get it over with,”
Fry dropped his arms from around Leela, but he still kept hold of one of her hands. They began to walk towards the bridge.

When they arrived, there was a massive group of crew members gathered around something and yelling.
“What’s going on!” shouted Fry. The noise instantly stopped, and the whole group turned from what they were doing and stared in amazement at Fry.
“Captain Fry, you’re alive!” gasped one stunned crewmate.
“Yes I am, and I asked, what’s going on?” demanded Fry.
“The traitor insulted you sir, he tried to give us orders, so we…disciplined him,” explained a nervous crewmate. Fry realised what they meant and his blood boiled.
“Get out of the way, NOW!” he commanded, hoping he was wrong. The crowd parted and lying in a bloody heap was Branigan.
“He deserved it sir,” tried one of the grunts.
“I have no doubt he DESERVED it! But that doesn’t excuse your behaviour. You all sicken me; you behaved exactly like he would’ve! I will not stand violence on our ship, do you understand me!”
“Yes sir,” the crew mumbled.
“Good, now someone take him to medical, and get us back to earth,”

Fry's a real idiot in this story. It's ok for him to kill Zapp but not ok for others to bash Zapp up. And it's not right for him to not kill Zapp or help him in any way. Zapp was gonna rape Leela. There is NOTHING worse than rape. He can't be let of this easily.

Yeah, but did you guys notice how Fry reacted when he thought he'd killed Zapp, he tried to commit suicide! Fry doesn't want Zapp dead or beaten because he'd feel guilty, but trust me, Zapp will not get away with his attempted rape on Leela, oh my no...

But he has to stay alive!And pick-up Michelle on that stupid planet!The vilain must stay alive to comit even darker deeds,turn the hero's live into a nightmare,before the hero breaks down and...Does something...Dont know what...
Or you can make a happy ending,write a more peaceful sequel and end the story like the shippers want.
I prefer the first option!

Part 17

Fry sat down heavily in the window seat, watching the stars fly by, and waiting for the soothing effect they inflicted. Guilt lay heavy on his heart, he had shot and he thought he had killed Branigan, yet he had completely lost it at his crew, Fry sighed.
“You okay honey?” asked Leela, wrapping her arms around Fry from behind.
“Not really,” replied Fry sadly.
“Talk to me,” commanded Leela softly, sitting down next to Fry, dropping her arms to take his hands.
“I lost it at the crew, and I had no right. After all, I did attempt to kill Zapp.”
“And then yourself for it. We need to deal with Branigan without violence,” stated Leela slowly
“Yeah, but how?” asked Fry hopefully.  Leela thought for a moment, and then a devilish grin spread over her face.
“We do something that not only punishes him, but benefits other people,”
“Community service?”
“I was thinking more along the lines of neutering him,”
“WHAT! That’d be mean and degrading and…exactly what he deserves,” finished Fry, coming round to Leela’s way of thinking.
“You want to announce it now?”
“Yeah, okay,” agreed Fry, standing up, “Attention all crew members! I have an announcement to make.”
The hustle and bustle stopped and all eyes were on Fry.
“I have arrived on Zapp Branigan’s punishment.”
Murmuring swept through the room. Fry continued.
“Due to the fact his escapades have been due to his need to prove his ‘manliness’ and the way he has harassed the female members of the crew, it has been decided that he will be, neutered.” Fry announced. The women all cheered, the men just looked nervous. The women all crowded around Fry.
“Captain Fry, we love you!” they all screamed in approval. Fry blushed, a smile edging its way onto his face, Leela made a beeline for his side in response. Fry saw her and cleared his throat.
“Er, thank you Ladies,” he said embarrassedly. One of the women stood forward.
“Thanks for saving me from Zapp,” she said.
“Jessica! I thought you would have gone home or back to Hawaii 6,” gasped Fry.
“I will, I just wanted to do this,” she said, stepping forward and pressing her lips onto Fry’s passionately. Fry appeared stunned for a moment and the smile slipped from his face, before pushing Jessica away, with such force that she stumbled backwards.
“Keep away from me!” he ordered furiously, “I am a happily married man, and I intend to stay that way!”
“Come on, you know I’m better for you then that cyclops, I have the right stuff,” persuaded Jessica in a honey sweet voice.
“No you don’t! Only Leela has what I need, that’s why I love her, and why I married her!” said Fry harshly.
“Come on darling, why have a faulty product when you can have the whole package?”
“Send her to the brig,” Fry ordered a troop, his face white and his voice low and quiet. The other women surrounded Jessica to stop her running.
“On what charge sir?” asked the troop nervously.
“Disrespecting first officer Leela,” answered Fry more calmly than he felt, “I will not have anyone insulting my wife, nor will I tolerate insults to any of my crew,”
“Yes sir,” returned the troop, handcuffing the surrounded Jessica, and leading her off.
“She was totally wrong Captain,” said one of the women from the crowd, “Leela’s very pretty, her eye makes her individual,”
The other women muttered their agreement, though a fair few sounded disappointed. Fry turned to look at Leela, who had frozen as soon as Jessica had kissed Fry.
“I couldn’t agree more,” he said, moving over to Leela and kissing her softly.

Those women love him not the way nativs from Spa 5 loved,but the way a rare white gorrila loves a kitten,a delivery boy loves a package and maybe even Leela loves the thing on her wrist.Heh heh he's theyr wrist thing.

Hi I've just joined! This is a fantastic story, it's taken me hours to read. I'm a devoted shipper and reading this is just brill, especially at the beginning when Leela and Fry finally get together! You keep the characters really true to the show too, I can imagine them actually saying the lines you wrote and it making sense. You have a great talent, well done!

True, he has gone through alot, but he has been out of character from the beginning. That's why I read fanfics, though, to see other people's interpretations of the characters. jle has a great talent for writing, and I enjoy her fanfics incredibly. I'm glad she started writing on this one again, I couldn't stand that Fry was dead!
