So, before I roll on the last chapter there is a couple of things I wish to say. Firstly, I'm leaving PEEL. I clearly don't belong here and if you wonder why I actually wrote up why but decided against posting it. Nobody gives a sh*t anyway, right?

Secondly, some people have been asking me about A Red Letter Day. I am writing it and no, I won't post it here or anywhere else but I can extend myself as far as emailing it to people interested. My email is in my profile.

And now for the last chapter of Somewhere I Belong.

Edit 2: snip

Now that was fun, wasn't it? If you are wondering if I'm going to write a sequel I can tell you I am writing a sequel. It's called A Red Letter Day.    :p

Edit: TOTP dance!

I'm glad you posted the end to this story. I really enjoyed it. I can't wait until you start A Red Letter Day. I will defiantly want to read that one too.

I'd be very curious to hear why, Corvus. Talented people shouldn't leave.

Meanwhile, great ending to the story. You really do describe aliens well, and I love how you worked in that line about "the second least likely thing to have ever happened." Good job on finishing it.  :)

I have one question and I'm sure it may have been something I missed:  Belle was left unconsious on the other side of the portal when it collapsed.  Leela was unable to save her.

So how did Belle show up in Fry's shower?  Wouldn't Bender have noticed another, female meatbag in his apartment and mentioned it to Fry?

I'm sure there's a simple explanation but my sleep-deprived mind doesn't register it.

That said, Leela's sitting at the conference table, alone and holding the gift Fry got for her was a powerful image.  That would have been a scene that would have been ruined if she spoke.  Her action of hugging Fry tightly while she was still crying tells of the deep affection she has for him - the same affection she won't put into words and denies to herself.

Now Corvus, I'm not going to be preachy or anything but I do want you to send me an e-mail so we can talk about this leaving PEEL.  If you have it in your mind it's the thing to do, I won't try to stop you, but I would like to get your reason.  We've already lost Tongue Luck, The Voices and PCC Fred - I really don't want to lose more of the senior members who dedicate and contribute a lot to the board.

So please drop me an e-mail over the next couple of days.  If I don't respond, it's because my comcast account seems to think some of my out-of-country contacts are evil and refuses to send me the mail.  Then let me know on this thread and I'll give you my backup address.

No, you didn't miss anything.  I'll let Corvus explain though.  Or rather, I'll let him not explain    ;)

An excellent conclusion to an excellent work of fiction, Corvus.  Sorry to hear that you're leaving PEEL.  Hopefully you'll still poke your head in every once in awhile?

I said mumblings to this effect privately but it's worth saying again. The scene between Fry and leela toward the end was quite masterful. The tension of the entire chase leading up to it made for a great read and the apparent failure to rescue Belle... yeah, it was good.  :)

Corvus, it'd be a damn shame if you left, but if that's your decision, well, good luck; here's hoping you find bluer skies elsewhere.  :)

Myself, I'd urge you to stay; 'Somewhere I Belong' kicks ass, and I liked 'Red Letter Day', and look forward to reading more of it. You write a good fic, and it'd be a pity to lose a talent like that.

Anyway, good luck with whatever you decide.

Great that you liked the ending.

Unfortunately I can't take credit for that line... It was soylentOrange who suggested it.

Seeing as I'm currently typing an email to you Ralph, I intend to address your questions there. Hope that is okay with you.

Thanks! And I most likely won't poke my head in every once in while. Sorry.

It was grueling to write but I'm glad to know that my effort paid of. Thanks!

Sorry but I won't stay. Glad you like SIB and if you want me to I can mail you A Red Letter Day when I have gotten the plot details worked out and started to write it.

With all that said I'm outta here! So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish!  :p

Oops... I single out one line, and it was the work of soylentOrange.  :o  Sorry.

Well, I also thought the bit where Leela is trying to get the Professor to open the gate again was very well written. And the others are right about the scene between her and Fry. Shame that you've left.

I think the Alien characters are superbly draughted. i particularly like the hot headed Raka captain who despises Brannigan! Also I liked the common heritage of Leela and Belle having shared the humiliation of Brannigans Love!

Iam about 5/8ths through Somewhere I Belong and will probably finish reading tommorow. Will comment more then.

Have sent an email to Corvus encouraging his continued contributions.
