I dunno Corvus, it doesn't seem that complicated to me.  You mark the name of the story that each update belongs to in bold at the head of every update, and the stories are so different that it would be hard to mistake one for the other anyway.

Until Rana is attacked by a Nandorian or a rabtreiver, I'll probably be able to tell them apart (as SolyentOrange said, good headers help too).

It's not that bad.  Sure keep it combined, that way your updates come steadily instead of erratic by whichever story gets updated.

Here's the deal.

A Red Letter Day will be put on hiatus until further notice. The reason for that is that I scrapped the original plot. Why? Because there were plot holes big enough to drive a truck through and it was generally bad.

I'm looking at a new plot but if I can't come up with something that will actually work I might (I stress might[/b]) have to scrap it.

As for Somewhere I Belong, it will continue as soon as I have worked out some dialog problems. I have slashed the number of chapters* that I originally had planned for though. So after the fourth chapter there will be three more plus an epilogue and that's it.

This in turn means that when I have finished Somewhere I Belong and possibly A Red Letter Day (if I get my plot together), I won’t write anymore Futurama fan fics. After three** mediocre fics, one short Christmas*** fic and a drabble I'll call it quits.

Now go read some quality fics instead of hanging around here!! Preferably written by such fine people as Kryten, Venus, Layla, soylentOrange, JBERGES, coldangel_1, fryismyhero and JustNibblin'!!

Thank you for your time.

*I had originally fifteen chapters not counting the Prologue and Epilogue; I cut that back to eleven and now I'm down to seven.

**Yes I have written three one before Somewhere I Belong and A Red Letter Day. It was called A Hard Days Delivery. Don't bother looking for it because I've removed it from PEEL and I haven't posted it anywhere else.

Believe me when I say it was bad.

***I have written a shippy Futurama Christmas fic that was so sweet that I had to visit my dentist. To this day only one PEELer (other than me) has read it and I'm content of having it that way.

Hi Corvus,

Thanks for the rather depressing update.  I do agree it is better to have a shorter story that is finished than a long story that is never finished.  I am curious about your three (complete?) Futurama fan fics and Xmas fic, because what I've  read so far of A red letter day and Somewhere I belong I thought were really quite good.  I mean, it had good aliens and even a plot (gasp).  So if you want to risk it, either post it or feel free to send to JustNibblin@gmail.com.

Thanks
Corvus

That was a mistyping on my part.. what I meant was that I have written one Fic prior to Somewhere I Belong and A Red Letter Day. So in total I have written one complete (A Hard Days Delivery) and I'm "working" on two more (Somewhere I Belong and A Red Letter Day.) aside my Xmas fic and Drabble.

Sorry for the confusion.

*bump*

I hope I don't jump the gun here and invoke the wrath of my Beta reader.   :p Still, here you have Chapter 4 of Somewhere I Belong.

In related news..
For all (seven) of you reading A Red Letter Day I'm sorry to say it will not continue, as the writer (i.e. me), is pants-on-head retarded. I complete buggered up my first plot and I can't honestly figure out a proper plot that I wish to write. So feel free to post to tell me what a complete twit I am.

Anyhow, on with the show trainwreck.

Haha... does female Fry still lust after Leela? 'Cause that'd be hot.

Best line:

"if he's dead I can always cook him. You guys eat each other, right?"

Heh heh, only on special occassions.

This is coming along smartly.

*hands Corvus a bandaid*

Hey Corvus, I'm so glad you're continuing this story.  I really like your writing style--it's fluid, clear, but full of detail.  One random example:

Quote

With a couple of milliseconds to spare, the controls responded to the human input and the ship tore up a cloud of dust as Leela applied maximum thrust. Even though the gravity displacement system worked at full power to negate the effects from the g-forces as the planet express ship roared skyward, Leela could feel the acceleration through her body.

Great vocabulary, great choice of words for capturing the intensity of Leela's flight.

Oh yeah, and the plot is getting ever more interesting.  It is good to see all the threads start to wind together. Keep it coming!
And please put in a rabtreiver at some point for me.  Original aliens are hard to come by...

EDIT: By the way, what's a Herbst maneuver?

Cough. I already have:

... The source of this sudden intrusion was a huge six wheeled excavator driven by a madly grinning creature that Fry from his fetal position on the ground recognized as non other than Shady the Tyrog.  ...

What's this? An update?

Well, sort of.. I'm about 95% finished with it and I have no idea as to how to finish the other 5%.. oh well.. a bit of fair warning. You might encounter a couple of odd sentences and possibly a grammatical error or two. If you do feel free to tell me where and how it really should be and let me know.

I can tell you that Chapter 6 is about 75% finished and the final two 7&8 (which was written as one) are about 50% done.

If you want to know how it all ends.. go bug soylentOrange.. because he knows.   :p

Hey Corvus, it's good to have you back, and the plot is marching along nicely.  As I've said before, I'm amazed English is your second language, and there are some good jokes in here:

"They were the usual sort: permits for weapons of mass destruction, exemption forms for violating government employment laws and the annual mad scientist license fee."

I like your writing style and look forward to the next installment to tie up the loose threads (like what was Fry's gift?  What's going to happen to Shady?)

@Archonix: Don't worry, I'll keep writing since I have every intention to finish this.

@soylentOrange: Awesome? As I recall you called me evil... twice...  :D (Not that I see that as a bad thing.  :p )

@Sine Wave: Thanks! You can't wait see what happens next? Hopefully you won't have to wait that long for the next chapter.

@JustNibblin': Glad you liked the jokes, I wish I could say that they were intentional.
What Fry's gift was? Oh, you'll have to wait to find that out.. or ask soylentOrange.  :p
As for Shady, he won't make anymore appearances.

You "got" Belle Fry? I don't get it.. And why did it drive you batty?

@JustNibblin': Heh.. glad you like my aliens...  still.. Archonix flying toaster is just so much more awesome..

One more chapter? Well.. sort of. It was supposed to be just one more. It became so long so I chopped it up in two. :P

A whole new story.. ah yes, remember that this story was supposed to be a lot longer than these 6 (plus 2) chapters it is now.

Um.. no.. unfortunately I haven't heard that saying before.. Belle comes from the hardware company. My idea was if Phillip was derived from the Phillip screwdriver, Belle is derived from the Belle cement mixer.

Yes, though for some reason I can't seem to find it online anywhere, which is highly annoying.

I wish I could take credit but it's really all due to my wife. she used the toaster in one of her fic a year or so back. I had to put it in to preserve marital harmony.  :)

@Archonix: back in chapter three or four there was an explanation of where Belle's name came from:

Mrs. Fry: "You pick.  I picked dinner last night"

Mr. Fry: "How about Belle; you know, after those cement mixers?"

great update, Corvus.  I'll have that last batch of material back to you ASAP.
