Where You Began

I love being all nostalgic and stuff, so I figued... why not have a thread dedicated to the first pieces of fan-based creation for the show, Futurama.

Like Art. here look,



But, I am sure you're all running in the opposite direction, at hearing the idea of looking at something you wrote a year or two ago, but hey, it's a good thing to do.

So to start off, here's a piece I wrote for a Fan Fiction (My very FIRST Mary-Sue Fic lol, I am sure if Venus saw this, she'd know what I mean. *nods) And I don't ned any critique for this, it's dead, so lol no point in, well, pointing out faults.

Chapter One: A Fight to Remember.
The Planet Express Crew were awaiting for the ever predictable "Good News Everyone" that was delivered every morning sealing their near doom. But till then everyone was talking about the long weekend coming up. Everyone was just sitting around ecept Fry who had a jitter.

"Leela will you..." Fry began to utter in a scared sort of way.

"No. So anyway Amy..." Leela said without a glance at Fry who was trying to put out the fire that had just started on his jacket from one of Benders Fire Burps.

"But I need you..."Fry begun again.

"I said no Fry! I'm not going out with yoooooh my God! Your on fire!" Leela said as she looked over to Fry.

"Well d'uh, now put it out. Quick!!!"Fry said growingly axsnious.

"Bender cover your vent next time." Amy said running after Fry who was bolting around insanely screaming "AHHHHH!!!".

"Well maybe he should learn to dodge it if he doesn't want to get burnt?" Bender said taking a puff from his Zuban.

After the 'Flaming Fry' was put out and treated for third degree burns Leela was wondering what he wanted. She walked over cautiously towards him as he was acting very hostile since what had happened."So what did you want before?" Leela asked worryingly at the fact that she thought he wanted another date.

"A Fire Extinguisher! Why? Wh-What did you think." He asked with venom in his first few words but after then he saw the look she had in her eye he softened his voice.

"Well I though that you wanted another date. Because you always ask me. I'm so sorry..." She stuttered seeing that Fry that was still upset from before. Fry turned away from Leela. But then he turned back. Fry understood how Leela felt so he had to tell her something which he had been keeping a secret from her for weeks. "I have to tell you something Leela... um." Fry began but found it hard to tell her.

"Yes?"Leela said looking at Fry hopefully expecting something along the lines of 'will you go out with me?'.

"I've... I've met someone else." Fry finished looking at his feet.

"What!?! When?." Leela asked shocked at what Fry had just told her.

"She was at the Hip Joint acouple of weeks ago. I meant to tell you but you wouldn't listen to me." Fry said becoming more confident with each word.

"Oh. Um? What are you doing on the long weekend?" Leela said trying to both hide her disapointment and shock.

"I'm going to Mars. With my girlfriend." Fry said slowly so that each word sunk into Leela's mind. He then looked deeply into Leela's eye which he has never done before without feeling butterflies in his stomach. He felt nothing.

"Good News Everyone!" The Proffesor belowed in an unussual tone.}

"Aw Crap!" I thought that he'd forgotten" Bender said as the Proffesor briefed the Crew about their mission.

"You'll  be delievering a piece of ordinary paper to the DOOP ship in outer orbit."The Professor said then turned and said gravely to Leela "*Sigh* Zapp want's you to deleiver it to him, again."

"Hell, not again" Leela usually got Fry to do it for her. But since the fire incedent earlier he wouldn't even look at her face anymore.

Am I finnaly over Leela? I feel like shes just another Bender or Amy. Fry looked over at Leela with some hope of feelings. Still nothing. Then again she's starting to notice me. Maybe she's Jealous of...? Everyone was staring at Fry. Then he realised that he was thinking out loud again... "Aw Crap, not again!" Fry thought but said again. Bender began to play back what Fry had said/thought. All the while Bender was laughing and lighting Zurban in the background.

So people post your first fan fictions/art etc!!!

Very first Futurama art, huh? Okay, I'll bite. That would have to be this:



As you can see, the hair isn't quite on model and her nose is slightly the wrong shape, but the anatomy is fine, and the colour, shading, and steam work. I was mainly going for a little humor, and a little risque as well.

First fan-art I ever submitted - roughly four and a half years ago...God I feel old...

I still haven't finished my first ever fan-fic, so here's a snippit that will probably seem ludicrous, removed from its proper context - but then the context is pretty ludicrous as well...:

He just stood there taking another gulp of beer and relaxed, looking pleased with himself. Suddenly Bender rushed back in.
‘Fry, Fry! What the hell have you done!?!’
‘What?’
‘What the hell’s happened to the apartment!?!’
‘…H-huh?’
‘Someone’s tidied the damn apartment!!! Where the hell is all the crap gone!?!’
‘I don’t know!!!’ Fry cracked under the pressure. ‘I just went to the bathroom and when I came back it was all changed!’
‘…What?’
‘I…I…I just left Nibbler in the main room and went to the bathroom…It…It was just all gone by the time I came back…only it wasn’t it was all…put away!!!’
‘…Nibbler?’
‘I yerrrr… oh cribbens…’
‘That little rat’s here!?!’ Bender snarled.
‘Err…NO! Na-ah, you’re wrong, he’s actually here…oh wait…’ Fry got himself confused
‘Where is he!?!’ Bender cried shoving Fry out of the way. He scanned the room. He finally saw Nibbler’s body heat hidden behind the couch ‘Yuooooo, I’ll get you!’
Fry spun round in surprise as Nibbler yelped as Bender closed down on him in the adjacent room. Fry just stared on in a stun. He then gulped some more beer. Suddenly Nibbler came running through the doorway as fast as he seemingly could move and shot behind a sink in the kitchen. Bender hurried in after him and stood above the sink, hopping from foot to foot to see if Nibbler would come back out again. He grunted a few times and reached for the sink itself with his arms. The sink began to shudder.
‘Bender wait!’ Fry called, rushing into the room.
‘I WANT HIM OUT!!!’ Bender replied slightly crazed. He hurried over to some cupboards and rummaged through them in a blur, sending irrelevant cans flying all over the place. ‘WHERE IS IT DAMN IT!’ he cried through all the clanging and bashing.
‘W-what you looking for!?!’ Fry, worried and anxious, wanted to know.
‘RAT POISON!’ Bender bellowed.
‘Erm…er…you sure that’s entirely necessary!?!’
‘YES!’ he cried before looking back at the sink ‘NOT IN MY APARTMENT!
‘No, that’s it, you left it at work!’
‘NOT IN MY-Oh really? Ah shucks…’ Bender replied downcast. He looked back to the sink where Nibbler still hadn’t emerged from. ‘Tis a shame to have to bend such an innocent and well constructed sink.’
‘Fearful exclamation: AAAAAARGH!’ replied the sink ‘Pleading moan: Please! I beg you! There must be another way! Please don’t bend me!’
‘That’s right, that’s right!’ Fry added quickly ‘Don’t you think…don’t you think you’re over-reacting a little, Bender?’
Bender stopped and looked back calculatingly at Fry. He dropped his arms and stepped away.
‘Relieved statement: Thank goodness!’ said the sink quietly. Bender pondered for a moment.
‘I suppose the store will still be open…’ he said contemplating. He went to the door.
‘Where you going Bender?’
‘I’m off to get an eviction notice…’ he said menacingly, making an international “death” sign under his neck. He disappeared. Fry looked on nervously. ‘Though you could just take him somewhere else while I’m out you know? Either way suits me?’ Bender added helpfully as he leant round the doorway.
‘No I’m cool.’ Fry replied automatically
‘Okay then.’
Bender finally left.
Nibbler appeared next to Fry, ignoring Irritated Statements coming from the sink. He frowned up at him.
‘Oh hi Nibbler!’ Fry chirped.
‘Hmm.’

I'm happy to nostalgia it up with the best of them (and cheers, Ralph!)     

Um... my first _futurama_ pics were also my first ever pics, so they're very, very roughly hewn; hey, I was learning as I went along!

This one was in fact my 4th ever pic (but within the first 2 weeks of me starting to draw - this week makes its 4th year anniversary, actually!), as a crash cost me about 2/3 of my pic archive last year. I was so proud of it because, get this, I yoosed a mIrrar in tha pic!!!11 _no_ artist _ever thout of DAT B4!

   

One thing I'm slightly proud of now is that I have to censor my very earliest pics as much as I do some of my recent ones...     



The art in this thread that's new to me is so impressive for a first go (as is, of course, the one I already had on my HD    !)... clearly a lot of people here were existing, experienced artists before trying futurama stuff. Zed, that's a fuck of a background I'd be hellish proud of _now_, let alone as a first one!

The Breakthrough! Paul Metcalfe kindly teaches me to line on pc; which helps shading and colouring; pc correction of lines extends to realigning limbs and altering the odd line; proportions closer to the shows, anatomy more fluid; backgrounds possible through effort and experience.

Wow, this is really a great thread! Helps to remember how much I sucked so it makes me look better now 
My first ever scan. , first Leela drawn on computer free-mousednotice I made her lipstick wrong.,my second Bender which is really pimped out,and my second Zoidberg. I couldn't actually find my first ones...that and I'm lazy.

Uhh,My first futurama drawing is horrible!I didn't have a guide and I just started watching the show,so they don't even look like the characters.If I can find them I'll post them tommarow.Be prepared to laugh your heads off.

Naw, not at all, you're very welcome    And as you can see, you're doing way better than I did when I was at the 4-6 month mark... but then you are very old    The sketchwork that went into that Fry rules as a technique, btw...

...which is why I hope I didn't miss the posting of that Leela pic you were drawing earlier

Very good pictures I've seen.  I never drew any Futurama pics, I only write fanfics.  My sister Hailey drew a picture, though.  You can find it on Futurama Madhouse under 'Doodles'. 

Oh, and Corvus, your picture of Fry looks very skinny.  I've always known Fry's chubbiness was a coverup!

In the original sketch Fry wasn't that skinny. I messed up when I inked the sketch and didn't realized until after I scanned it and started coloring it in my computer.   
The hair and nose isn't right either.. I'm such a hack.

I did some arts back in the days… (Only pencil art and I never did scan them)
But the only thing I did that I posted here on Peel was a Fanfiction. Not a very popular one but I did do it. (My bad spelling and grammar mistakes at that time may explain why it didn’t become more popular.)

Here’s the teaser of my fic that I use at the time:

Then he hears the most disturbing sound he could imagine, he hears is name, he hears someone crying. He couldn’t see who it was, but he hears is name again. Someone was begging for him. Then he saw, he saw fear, he saw death, he saw the end of all things he likes and love, he saw all that in her eye …..

Btw I’m also working on a scale down model of the Planet Express Building. It’s almost done… (Complete with working lights, street lights and optional X-mas lights on the roof hatch) Only need the finishing touch and I’ll post some picture of it here on PEEL.
