I saw this in a shop, and looked at the box, and it seems to have everything I could want - and more!!. Trouble is, it costs £80 or roughly $120 (I think). This is a lot of money for me, so I wanted to make sure it's good, as I've heard no-one talk of it. So if anyone has it could they tell me what they think. Photoshop _?_ was another possibility, but I couldnt find that. Could someone who has that also tell me how muc it cost and a bit about it's functions.

Didnt know if this belonged in Fan art& Fiction so please move if I was wrong

never heard about it. but if you ask me, the best programs out there are:
-photoshop, but that's feckin expensive (~1000 €)
-paint shop pro 7, very good and cheap. i use it. can read photoshop plug-ins, there is a students/pupils version available for i think ~80 €
-the gimp. this is a pretty good program too, i use it especially for filters. it's freeware.  http://www.gimp.org

then are some more progs by ulead and macromedia, but i haven't heard enough about them. don't buy what ever that design things is, you can have a more common (and better) prog for less money.

Thanks, do you know what those are in £s. Anyway, Im currently on Gimp (what a name!) so thanks for the tip. What's Paint Shop Pro like? What are it's functions.

paint shop pro is like photoshop, with some features missing. but it's a bit cheaper too (like it cost 1/10 or so...). i dunno what's in £, but you can say 1 € = 1 $ (rougly), so you might be able to convert it.

I use Photoshop 6.0 for everything, also illustrator is pretty good for making certain metalic objects, and also 3D MAX is very good for making textures and making glass balls and stuff....although i would buy Photoshop 6.0 because it's the best all rounder

Mood Dependant I use a combination of Illustrator 9, Photoshop 6, Paint Shop Pro 7 and occasionally Flash 5.

Bring back the old Amy post icon as well.  Grrrr.

I saw Paint Shop Pro 7 for about £70-90 (I can't quite remember exactly - that doesn't really help does it?  )

I use Paint Shop Pro 7 evaluation (demo), which does very nicely indeed in retrospect. Very handy for what I do. But I just use paper and pencil for most of my art anyway.  :)

I got old versions of Serif Photo Studio (average-good) and Serif Design Studio (pretty poor), cos they were only £15 for both. Thanks everyone for their help though, I'll consider these opinions for my next birthday  :).

Zed - THanks for the info - just letting you know I saw it for £45 at PC World, in case you (or anyone else) wanted to buy it. I might try that evaluation thing, if you could possibly tell me where to download it.

Space.Spiff - I didnt download gimp because of the risk of "bugs", my computer is screwed as it is!

Thanks for that Mitsui.  :) I can't remember where you download it from because that was a long time ago. If you go out and a copy of PC Gamer UK it should be on the cover disk. You can reinstall the program from the disk when ever you want. Hope this helps.  :)

I've used PSP for a while, it seems to possess a good amount of bang for its buck.  I don't do scan art or anything, but for all my purposes it's a good deal.

I do. Five(well, Futurama's not reached the end of the series, so it's almost 5) seasons of hilariousness.

Edit: Earn them by posting. Go find the Ranks thread in the Wish Void forum and you'll see how many you have to collect.

I picked up PSP 7 Anniversary Edition (basically V7 with a few extra filters) for £40 on special offer at PC World. Great bargain. It serves me well for scans, and I personally find it easier than Photoshop. I managed to get Photoshop through my school very cheaply (student licence without VAT). I find The GIMP very useful when I'm working on my mac, because sadly PSP isn't available for that platform.

I occasionally use 3D Studio MAX R3, mainly for animations, but also for stills. All my 3D modelling is done in Rhino 3D, a very cheap (when compared to other software), but amazing, NURBS modeller.

By using the edit button? And not posting random messages in a specific topic?

Technically it's four seasons, which is why four DVD sets are being released.
