New computer, new scanner, new season... same old subject matter...   

Been an age since I drew anything, but had one idea recently; however, it was really pretty complex, so I thought I'd better ease back into the drawing thing slowly. Hence this pic    I mirror imaged it on the pc to see if I'd got proportions etc right... I'm still wondering! As you can see, worryingly rusty.

Anyway, it's not a great pic, but I figured it's the best I've done recently, and maybe someone'd like some bit of it. Plus, the general fan art thread desperately needed a bump!     

As always, any comments, opinions, saying it's shit (if you can say how to fix it, even better), all very welcome

You draw like a king. You've totally nailed Matt's style, and yet you've added something of your own which I can't quite put my finger on...

Needless to say, its very good.

that's an awesome Leela.  I wonder what she's angry about?  Perhaps she's having a conversation with Fry and his gaze is wandering a little too far south.  But then again, who could blame him?

I think it looks great.. the proportions looks right to me. Although you shouldn't take my word for it.. As I am a producer of crap art and never get the proportions right.

Cool, new Marcusart. I think I can safely say that the man still has his mojo.   

If there's anything 'wrong' with the pic - I'd say that the two tufts (?) of hair on top of her head are a tad on the large side, but she could just be facing into the wind.

Nice work Marcus, it's good to see you back on the art front. Must try and get back on that horse myself but I usually like to practice my colouring first. In fact if it is not too much to ask could I have a go at this pic when you are happy with the lines?

Sorry for the double post but I have jsut done a quick sketch and I thought I would share.

Still a few things i would like to change about it, especially the lips can;t seem to get them how I want them.

@ Wu: Good sketching - I like the trace of a smile, very Mona Lisa. A sexy, cycloptic Mona Leela.

Onlt criticism is the ear - it _does_ work in the context of the sketch, it balances and is on level with the eye nicely (always v. hard when trying a realistic Leela). But regarded as a single part of the pic, it's a bit LotR elfish - quite dominating. Maybe some more of it could be hidden by hair?

Nose is cute, and I like the set of her shoudlers.

@ above posts: Whoa, thanks everyone, what a response! And very nice things said as well; minor corrections attempted in pic in response to them (see below).

Hmm, good question... extended pic a bit, think it adds to the situation! End of summer, relaxation in the sea breezes, PES out over the ocean, not a toilet in sight... :P I was tempted to take it further, but thought better of it (for now...).

@ Wu (again): feel free to have a go at colouring, be my honour  If you (or anyone else who fancies a shot, I don't mind) need a larger version, just say the word. Uh... Fry's flow... is just a suggested direction... you might want to do some colouring magic to get it to actually look right, I don't know...!

Leela:  "Ohhhh!  That's disgusting!  Just get in the car an let's go home.  And wash your hands first!"

Fry:  "Where?  The ocean?"

Leela:  "Ohhhh!  Never mind."

(BTW, Marcus, you've made Leela look mouth-wateringly good in that pic. Even when she's angry, she's gorgeous.  Great pic with a good concept and back-story.)

Great coloring Wu.

I really like the translucent effect of Leela's swimsuit and her nipples.    

Sad thing - I had an experience almost exactly like this in 1985 with my first wife.   

The words that I gave Leela and Fry were almost verbatim from the words between Lisa and myself.   

Great work to both Wu and Marcus.  May more art come from your fertile minds and fingers

Working on a new pic, but it's slow work.   

In the meantime, I don't think I ever posted this, uh, anywhere! It's a cautionary tale, really, about how important it is to have a firm idea about what you want to draw before you  first put pencil to paper! If you try to make it _all_ up as you go along, you end up with a lot of rubbings out, notes to self on what needs to be corrected, and an unfinished pic, ultimately

Still, some bits of it turned out quite nice, so I thought I'd bump up general with it  Comments always welcome, but as you can see, I made quite a few myself about this one!

I think the body elements are OK, mostly getting leg to match ground line arm is on, boot might take a redraw, right arm up would rotate upper chest in. Depends some whether she's falling, or at 0G, or on the ground with gravity.

Belated congrats, Marcus - that's a good looking one (and futz makes it look better). Can't wait to see it finished. Interesting though, comparing different styles and so forth - I hardly ever make any notes with my sketches. At the most I only add little arrows or pointers just to remind me when I come to Photoshop it, that I want the head tilted at a different angle- or the body part needs to be longer - or somewhere else. But that's it - interesting

If only the lined one was a tinny bit smaller
