Maybe you could have given her a practical reason for the pose, by having her cleaning the glass. Portholes don't stay spotless on their own, y'know! On second thought, that's a bit mundane. Keep her looking mysterious and sexy...

Whoo! Go offline for a day, come back to find a huge bunch of replies! Thank you - really makes it feel worthwhile @ Beamer and Professor Zoidy: The main difference in the version that Ralph alluded to (yes, cheers, Ralph! ) was that it was, of course, 850x650 instead of 600x420... Plus the pic was evidently taken later on in the evening... No, you're (as is anyone else) very welcome to see the other version, but I think this is a rare occassion where the clothed version is actually better than the nude. Won't post on peel, but happy to exchange via email - thatenglishguy@hotmail.comI reckon maybe I have been a prima donna about this 'un - it's a nice shot, good enough blance/remedy to the 'aw, poor Leela!' style of pic that I (and others!) sometimes do It's a shame that the idea behind it wasn't as good as some of the execution (though I've just realised why it looks a little odd - 2 different shading styles used, 1 for L. and a different one for the background, doh!), but you can't get everything right every time. Anyhoo, thank you for the kind comments and helpful ideas (amazed - and pleased! - that you liked her legs, THJim, struggled a bit with them, so I'm glad the effort paid off!). Will try to ensure future efforts are worthy of a look and a post P.S. - Corvus - I scan the pics in and line them on paint shop pro (7), thanks for asking . I used to ink, but it's a lot of hard, finicky work - way easier to pc it! The original sketch post earlier in the thread was the same file I used to complete this pic - altered legs, butt, feet, all at the pc-lining stage. Also made up the background at this stage, as it was a pretty simple one. Can't find an example of my earlier inked efforts, but do take my word for it, they were cruder! I don't have the steady hand, vision, and patience to ink properly, as an effect; and besides, once the big man, Paul Metcalfe, taught me how to line on pc, never looked back!

I think that's the only real niggle Congrats on an excellent side on view of Leela, btw, I know I can never get that right! I see what you mean. The top half of Fry is side-on and his pants three quater I think it's because I had trouble drawing both his and Leela's pants sideways. That's why Leela's wearing a dress - easier to draw. I couldn't really do that with Fry, so I just left it and hoped no-one would notice...

Great stuff here guys. I've finally done another one if anyone's interested... It's Amy - mostly inspired by a crazy dream I once had (no sh*t!) Large pic - 56Ks/low screen resolutioners be fairly warned...I took a step back by adding lines again - couldn't be arsed to do it the other way - it is a bit late at night - so much of it is kinda rushed. Also I'm well aware I drew a pic of Amy with almost the exact same expression not so long ago...er...just pretend that I didn't...

Cheers for all the comments everyone Yeah, she's a ghost - technically. Purely the result of the specific mood I was in last night. But the dream - well I describe it in detail in one of the dream threads but the slightly less freaky jist of it* is basically Amy dies for one reason or another - murdered basically...and years later her ghost is wandering country roads, still quite unaware that she's dead - the shot is, as such, realisation. Originally posted by wu_konguk: Nice, Kinda reminds me of Yorda from Ico (dispite the dress looking quite different).
Yorda and Ico = over my head TBH Not sure on her left eye though, seems a little off. Still nice job. Yeah, I do see what you mean by that - though I kinda think the left eye is in the correct place - just certain other things are in the wrong place; poor perspectivenesessesss - wait a sec, by Left you mean her left, yep? *The full freaky jist of it is that I dreamt I was on some cruise ship - and Amy was one of the passengers. Then there was a terrorist hostage situation, but me and a group of others, including Amy, were not captured, and managed to get some guns and retake the ship - I didn't actually do much, just ran around a lot, the rest of the real fighting was done by the slightly more braver of our group. But anyway, once the fighting had stopped, we looked around and Amy had just..well...died. Later on in the dream, it was some years later, and I was driving along a country A-road when suddenly I saw Amy walking along the side. I stopped the car and had a chat with her - all the while she had no idea that she was dead and had been for about five years. That is effectively where this pic comes from. Though I did take some artistic licences.
Incidentally the dream I had about Leela dying, I'm turning into a fan-fic - it won't be the usual kind of main-character-has-died-fics, I sware But the reason I kept this small was to lessen the "What-the-fkc-are-you-on!?!" effect

@Zed85 That's some great awesome art with Amy there.. Can I ask how you did that alpha effect with the lower part of her body? Layers? Filters? Any other Photoshop voodoo technique?

I thought I'd clone the Amy layers and erase the bottom of them away with a non-solid, and very wide brush. But then I thought it would actually be easier just to copy all layers with just the Background layers - then paste the single-layered copy on top of Amy, then erase away the top of the layer to reveal just enough of Amy - but not too much because I never bothered to draw her feet - and that would have looked nasty if the cut off became clear. But yeah - I hope that made the blindest bit of sense? Anyway - got another Amy pic for you - should be much more self-explanitory since there's nothing really to explain. Hope you all likes Yes.. It did make sense. In a layered sort of way. Very nice Amy and Leela.
