Thx Tweek ,

I sure will , I have been thinking of develloping flash oriented episodes of futurama ... it's a lotta work ... then we still need voiceovers ... but I guess this idea put in practice will take too much work .
I like futurama (and the simpsons) and drawing , so those two match (hence the question on how-to draw)

Happy holidays y'all

Well I havn't found any but my best tip is to start with Bender because he's easyest. I've learnt how to draw him from total memory but I can't draw the others yet.

First just do some observational drawings of him from pictures, use pictures with different angles. Then try to draw him from memory, the first time for me turned out crap so I kept doing it. Remember he has no nose so his eyes and mouth are right next to each other.

I've seen what the animators use to look at when drawing characters.  I'm sure sarge has seen it also.  But thats not public domain, only for futurama staff that actually uses it.  It would be very cool if Bongo comics made a 'how to draw the future' book.

Bonjour d' all!!  :D

This is my first post here but I've "lurked" around for a while.  :)

Anyway, for me, I actually find Bender the most difficult to draw, I can draw the others just about alright but not Bender. It just never looks right.

Well, don't follow my example because I not that good anyway.   :p

Hey guys ,

I have been looking all over the net for drawing techniques for futurama right now , and I have found a couple of things which are : a standard yellow how to draw bender (http://www.care2.com/ecards/build/7/197525348) , next some videos on the making of ... (http://slurmman.tripod.com/pressvids.shtml) and that's about it ... still looking though ... I took screenshots of one of the videos above , cropped the image and will be working on un-blurring the image and accentuating the lines ...

Still drawing ,

Ahh, all the pages I have full of Fry, Bender and Leela faces...

I think the only trick to get good Futurama pictures is practising, practising and practising.  :)

To Slovan : I agree 100%.
Fry , Bender and Leela are "ok" ... just professor farnsworth with that egg shaped head ... that's really hard ... IMHO

Eh, I always thought those how-to-draw books are useless. If these people are real artists, they wouldn't be making how-to-cartoon books. But that's just about those basic how-to-draw cartoon books. The one's based on shows always confuse me. The circle oulines are odd, I just draw it as I see it.

I found the best way to draw the characters is to get a picture of their faces and bodies and brake them down. for example their heads are about three eyes wide (Leela makes this a bit harder.) but the key skill is practice till you think you've got it and are satisfied.

It took about a minute. I used a pen. It's off model but it still works.

It would take me about half an hour and even then it wouldn't look as good.

I actually managed to find a step by step how to draw bender in a set of like 3 pics.
The .jpg quality is not the best so the writing is not recognizable when u zoom in, but it goes through all the steps and looks very professional.
Send me an e-mail Ican send you a copy

I've drawn Bender in several places on the till which I work on. If there are no customers waiting to be served I practice drawing him from memory on my till. One of the customers even recognised him. I just hope my boss doesn't find out it was me who did it.

Yeah. If I could do that (making a Leela picture in less than 1 minute), oh boy! I think my boss would get a heartattack, 'cause then I wouldn't be doing anything else.  :D

As it is my drawings look like a 3-year-olds, doings snapshot paintings of an olypmic 100-meter dash.

I set off to draw really complex pictures but all I end up with is some pictures that look like they could have been drawn by a 3 year old and don't have much to them.

In all fairness my drawings probably are not that good ,as soon as I get a scanner you will see. The best thing is not to get to bogged down with how bad it looks 'cause with a little practice say 1/2 an hour a day you'll be up there with the pros well maybe.

I just learned how do draw Fry (on Flash)  accurately just by looking at someone's avatar. Usually, though, it takes some practice trying to do an original pose. Just get an existing picture and try copying the proportions of the character in your pose. I gave it a shot, it turned out all right.

I actually find Leela the easiest to draw, bender the hardest and farnsworth hard too memorize.

You can kinda make out the sketchy lines.

The eastiest characters to draw have to be Leela, Bender and Amy, Fry's a little harder (but not that hard)    :)

Well, i had a problem, i`m very bad drawing people or animals, i don`t know why, but simply i found many problems on it, but i enjoy a lot drawing all type of ships, planes, cars, buildings, boats, etc... this is two draws i made long time ago

first one is the Planet Express Ship

this is only an example an "off-topic" Cygnus SpaceWorks XG-1 Assault gunboat that i made for fun:

when i do a draw of any character well (i had problems with proportions in "mind drawing" i`ll show you.
