Hello All, New to this forum, but a long time Futurama Fan. I just completed my first Futurama Soundboard. Thought I would share and get opinions. The board includes all main characters. Some chars have less quotes than others but I will be updating this version more and more. Thanks for Looking. http://snow.prohosting.com/netzzjd/FuturamaSoundboard.swf (2.66mb/swf)[BROKEN LINK]

That really sounds good! You did a nice selection on the quotes you used and the presentation is also quite nice. The only thing I have to nitpick is that the graphics are a bit jagged. Perhaps you should get some better ones sometime later. Beside that it is a fantastic work. Welcome to PEEL, NetzzJD That probably should belong to the Fan-Art board, but don't worry: If it does belong there, a mod will gladly move it. Enjoy your stay here at Nerd-world.

It sounds really awesome, but I've had it stuck on "Loading" for a half-hour, and I'm on DSL. Hosting problems?

Thanks for input guys. Since post I've corrected previously mentioned bugs and am currently finding more high res images to use. Look for new versions to be released later. THX Again!

Aha! It's finally working. Now then! I really like the quotes you chose, some of them were pretty fuzzy, but ehh, it's not that big of a deal. The layout is nice, but as the others said, the graphics could use some work. Try scanning them, that should fix it.

Okay guys, I've changed some of the graphics to look better and added some interactivity via animation and rollovers. These additions doubled the file size so beware of loading time. Next I plan to add-in more quotes. Version 1.5: http://snow.prohosting.com/netzzjd/soundboard.htm (4.31mb/swf) [BROKEN LINK] Thx again for comments and let me know about any further bugs or glitches.

Looks better! But one question: What are you going to do when you have too many quotes to let float around casually?

Ooh! Nice! I like the new effects and images, but I'm afraid they don't really downsize the problem that a lot of the pictures are still a bit too grainy around the edges for my tastes. What did you do for the background pictures? They look pretty nice.

How do yall suggest I get better images? I have screen captured most from dvd's(is this what you mean by scanning?), but to just cut-out the person from background is hard. They also have to be gif's so they can have a transparent background not a white box with jpgs. Also, what should I use to capture the quotes with? My DVD player can capture pics but haven't found one that will get sound or video from DVD. Thanks.

No, with scans we mean to (re-)draw the picture in an imagine software like gimp, Jasc PSP or Adobe PhotoShop. The result would look like these: No.1, no.2, no.3. These are done by loading the original picture into such program. First you double or tripple it in size, then add a new transparent layer and trace all black (or shading) lines over with the pen tool. At last you can fill the regions with the color they need and resize it down to what you need. If some of the pics on these sites above fit your eyes, you are free to use them. To capture sounds you need a second program that can record them. For short bits the Windows Audiorecorder works well, for more than a minute though it fails. There are some freeware solutions like audacity. You should be able to record the sound in there while you play your DVDs. If you got troubles with that, go over to the Reflect, repent and reboot - The computer help thread: Rebooted - Thread in the Offtopic discussion and ask for help.

It's a real treat to see a futurama sound board. i don't think i've seen one before.
However, there are some major problems...
soundboards are used for prank calls and the like. for it to become a lot more useful, you'd need a lot of simple questions and answers for each character, like:
"yes" "no" "maybe" things like that...
and of course small answers and phrases that one can use to pretend to carry on a real conversation. also, having more than one character in a clip gives it away, as does background music.

Thanks GFF, for the info. Adding in more quotes and images as we type. tire, I guess I should change the name to Quoteboard then, huh? Im not really going for what you speak of; piecing together words to form crazy sentences. Just wanted to show off funny one-liners from the chars.

Thanks for the input guys. I just wanted to make something that included all the characters, is user friendly, and most of all funny! I hadn't found that in any other soundboard(there's only a handful anyways) so I gave it a shot. Thank again and more updates might be in the future.
