Well well well.  The tide has finally turned.  I know a few of my esteemed colleagues would like to sink their teeth into a fanfic of mine after I tore into theirs.

So here it is.  Futurama: Curse of the One-Eyed Jacks.  Yes, that is a stupid title, and no, I couldn't think of anything better.

I'd advise you to read these notes prior to reading the story, as I have made several enhancements to the traditional notion of a fanfic.

If you're ready to go, click here.  I'm warning you now...it's a long story.

I realize that there may be some discontinuities, which can be explained mostly by my attempts to "trim the fat" and my lack of a good proofreader.  Please leave a review, and please don't be afraid to criticize my errors.  I'm thick-skinned enough to handle all the slings and arrows that you can throw at me.

Bonus points to whomever guesses which character represents my point-of-view.

So far its very good. Fresh, and the characters are true to their nature, especially what I've read about Zapp thus far. Also, nice touch with the virtual ships and such.  big grin

I find it easier to describe things like that with pictures instead of words.  Too much detail in a script can really kill its propensty to be captivating.  I had originally intended to do "animatics" (video storyboards) like Spielberg used in Jurassic Park.  Unlike Spielberg, I was trying to use CGI and not Go-Motion.  In the end it proved too hard to do for my hunk-o-junk computer.  I needed more RAM and 3D models.

It's different, I give you that. I've only read chapter one so far, though.

I finished the...ahem...'animatic' of the section I refer to as "Leela's Nightmare" (a terrible pun in and of itself, bonus points if you know what I mean).  Click here to watch.

The DivX codec is necessary to watch this clip.

As you said its a long story, its gonna take me a while to read it but I will and I'll let you know what I thought. But from the little bit that I have read it seems to be off to a promising start

In an attempt to further enhance my script (as well as keep the thread fresh), I've finished an animatic of Destiny emerging from 'cloak' to attack the Planet Express ship.  Click here to play.

I liked it. It was readable, but a little confusing. Also, I cannot view any of your visual thingies.

Sorry to hear that.  I've just learned that the newest version of CosmoPlayer (the one I've been pushing) is a big pile of crapola, so I reccomend Corotona for the VRML locations even though the ships should be fine.  The videos should work if you have the DivX codec.  If they don't work, go here to download an 'official' copy.
