thanks to prozac for the imageshack reference.  that site is a lot more lenient than the place i used before.

i am not happy with the shading... i don't shade dark enough methinks, and it just doesn't look as good as i hoped it would.  can someone please help me out?

i used hard 6H to outline the background and 6B for leela, PE ship, fry.  i used F and 2B for most shading.

That looks cool! Fabulous how you combined these two. You realy are a human Xerox-machine.  big grin

About the shading: Well actually I have no clue. People like TheVoices, FemJesse, or Otis, or... are genius on that, not me though.  hmpf

One more thing:

Could try to stick to one thread you created, I mean there are already 4 art threads by you (including this one) and only one got to 25 posts.

back with another lead drawing

I'd choose the third one, since it has good name that works for all of your pictures so far.  smile

You're welcome for that.  wink

And no problem on the spamming stuff either. I'm not the right one to complain anyhow, since I'm not a mod, but I thought that it would be cool to have all you fabulous work collected at one point, ehh... I mean thread.  smile

Yeah.. Leela looks as if it was drawn straight from the production line. I like this version better than the near done pencil sketch  smile

UBER EDIT - don't worry about replying to this thread... i already wasted tons of hours of shading and it's officially done... i covered her in liquid sealer and everything.

an old friend of mine helped guide me this last week on
how to improve on the drawing.  she gave me an "ebony" pencil
and now it looks a LOT better... unfortunately i had to go over the WHOLE dang
picture and darken everything... i'm currently re-outlining the background in
6b lead.  wish me luck.  i'm so sick of this picture i would quit if it wasn't
in my nature to stick it out.

and thanks guys for the compliments, but stop or i'll get a big head.       smile

edit -

i need some help guys... i will add the updated picture here
in a minute and you'll see what i mean.  the PE ship is now 'correctly'
shaded but the background is still very light.  the shadow the ship casts
on the light ground doesn't look right, but if i shade the background to
the same end that i did for the main characters (PE SHIP, LEELA),
will it not keep them from sticking out from the background?  what i'm
asking is what will contribute the most to a 10 second glance that
friends and peers will see:  a subtle background with a standing-out
foreground, or just a uniformly shaded
drawing, and rely on the PE ship and LEELA to win out due to their size on
the paper?

i added a futuristic "LO BRAU" beer keg in the background but i guess the
resolution is not good enough to read it.
