it has come to my attention after reading through many of the fan-fics on the leela zone again that many of the great ones, i.e. "background noise", "the Fry-light Zone" series, "No More Fun and Games", "the Other", "Project ALBIA", "Catastrophe" etc, have been left in an unfinished state. i do not know whether this is because authors have given up on them or i am being impatient whilst another piece is being written, but all i can say is, after spending hours reading the first parts and getting caught up in the stories, i would like to thank you all for starting them. they have made many a boring afternoon disappear into 1 - 2 o' clock in the morning. i am sure many others feel the same as me. so thank you once again.

Ah, those are good fics and I dearly hope they get finished. Particularly Background Noise.

However, if you're looking for a fic that share some similarities with those fics, maybe you ought to check out the Uh Oh, Newbie fanfic thread.

This shameless, actually, I'm deeply ashamed, plug brought to you by the woman who killed JBERGES and sent Say What Now into a mad frenzy.

On a more serious, and on topic note, anyone know if there's a chance these will be finished?

Layla! You mentioned me in a post outside of your thread! And described me as frenzied! My stomach is turning with a strange sense of flattery!

I do hope they get to updating them  :(. I've been waiting for The Other forever. But I don't think it's abandoned- I remember him talking about being stuck in a hurricane and being delayed by one thing or another, but that he was working on it... so there should be more of that sometime soon. I've heard a lot about Background Noise... maybe I should check it out. I think I started to read Project ALBIA once and didn't get into it- maybe I should retry that too. Sometimes it takes me a few attempts before I keep going with it, yannow?

Oh, and there's this one AWESOME story on fanfiction.net called Love is About Giving Up Everything, and the author refuses to update on that too :'(. I've left reviews badgering and pestering because of course when I started to read it they stopped updating it without warning. Somebody help me bother them because I don't want to wait anymore! Or wait forever!

(P.S. I'm going to back up Layla's shame-something plug, especially if you like 1) shippiness, 2) comedy, 3) drama, 4) extremely cool plot, 5) action, 6) suspense, and 7) beautiful writing... and she updates a lot, so she won't leave you forever stranded in waiting.)

I'll be looking at the other fics you mentioned, bish! And sadly waiting with you!

Layla, I'm hurt.  I'm supposed to be the one to plug your fic in every conceivable place, time, and probability!

That said, This is a damn good fanfic.  Probably on par with those you listed.  Read it, love it, enjoy having emotion and comedy in the same place,* and wonder where this girl learned how to write.  It sure as Hell wasn't anywhere I've ever been.

Also, I'd really like to see more of Kryten's work and, somewhat more generally, a continuation of The Frylight Zone.

*Seriously, is there a single joke anywhere in The Other?

Haha, nah, not that I can remember. More overly dramatic, eh? I got into it somewhere in the middle and was hooked, so I'm still waiting impatiently. I gotta say though, the last few chapters haven't been all that great. Some aspects are getting predictable and sometimes the characters can get really OOC. Ah well. I hope he doesn't try to drag it out any longer. I really enjoyed it in some places. I want to keep enjoying it :P.

Definitely agree with pretty much everything that's been said here. Also...

@Nerd_o_rama: Even though I'm mad at you for forcing me to write my movie script and thus box myself into a corner ( ;)), I must say good call on "The Other". I think I read about two parts before thinking that 1.) Leela is way out of character and 2.) This is way too...un-Futurama-y.

@bish: Well, you won't be sorry. Layla's fic is like the best (shippy/prosy) one I've ever read (you know what they say: three great plugs deserve another). Seriously, if I could write half as good as her, I'd be lucky.

Well, I really wish those fics will be finished... and to this list I might want to add "The Longest Journey Home" (is Farnsworth38 still around??)...

The Background Noise fic is still being written (i have contacted the author of the fic) and we will have to be patient and wait some more...

@bish - You may want to read "Flowers in The Window" by Nasteve - it is finished and it is very, very shippy (and good  :D )

i have, infact, read flowers in the window, and found it good, but was a bit too shippy for me. those examples ive given are of great fan fics ive read that are unfinished, there are too many great fan fics too mention, however recently, since finishing UoM, i have noticed that Kenneth (Kif) White hasn't slowed down like other writers would, but has written a fun (if confusing) fic (the chronotons of fry-nia) and started another series, A Past With No Future, its good to see him still writing at the same exceedingly high standard.

Oh, I loved the Chronotons of Fry-nia!  Surprised it's not farther up the list, nobody's out of character, the jokes are great, plus there was a little bit of shippy!   :D And great that you've started reading Layla's fic, wow, she has en extensive vocabulary and she has stayed away from the pitfalls Tongue Lucks mentioned. Plus it's shippy! Keep up the good work Layla!

Chronotons of Fry-nia was the first Futurama fic I ever read.  It was quite excellent, even if it did start dragging and reading like a TNG episode towards the end.

Heheheh...dominatrix Leela.

Yeah, it definitely belongs on a list of great fics.

On a general note, we will have to hope the various authors can get inspired to add to all these unfinished fics (especially "No More Fun and Games"!!). Drat that pesky real - life getting in the way of creating!
