I have to agree with TLI, more metal then punk. The hair is awesome, like YAA said, and I like all the spikes. Good job.

Once again, I will join in on the agreement found by those before me: Metal not Punk. And of course echo the other consensus met here: Incredible art Zmithy. I'm also impressed with your rewording of Chop Suey which is definitely not the easiest song to parody. Kudos.

Wow, have you been creative. 3 new pics! Pas mal. The shippy one is great, I mean what else would you expect with Fry like that--it's really sweet and the background and colour is gorge. However (gasp!), I just *love* the metal ones. Great job on the outfits, Leela's hair (I keep complementing on your art hair, don't I?) is creative and cool. And Fry, ooh, dangerous! Like it, like it More in that theme would be most joyous.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, punk Amy coming up. Yeah, I'll call it punk even if it doesn't turn out like that. Just like Good Charlotte . I was going for a rough cyberpunk style, a more military take on the modern punk version, it just didn't turn out very 'cyber'. Metal art is usually more surreal, but I'd say the Fry pic qualifies- once I start drawing spikes it's hard to stop. By the way, those two metal kids are amusing, so fake! Conditioned hair? Combat trousers? Lack of piercings? Please... It's hard to find an authentic one though, the last person I saw dressed like that was some pervert on a train. Anyhoo, I'm busy with a 4 part animation. Watch this space .

The animation's taking longer than I thought, but I'm halfway there. Doing it in flash, but staying away from any of the crummy 'zoom in' or motion tween effects, and laying the whole thing out frame by frame. I got bored, and picked out one of my better 'practice' sketches to photoshop up. Just felt like trying out some funky club/ gig style lighting . It's 2am on my 18th birthday right now, time for some sleep before a crazy day...

Aaagh! Not the m-word! Thanks for the great comments guys and gals, I wasn't even expecting many on that last one (it was only a 45-minute photoshop job). I liked the style of this pic by 3/4 of a Jesus and felt like trying something similar. I got round to doing some new art.. finally, after weeks of computer problems. Leela pwning fry at videogames .

The hair is a flat colour-fill with a load of lines using a same-colour brush set to multiply. Then some broad shadows (burn tool, large brush) wherever it looks good, and sharp highlights (dodge tool, small brush) to line highlight the strands of hair. The skin is just dodging and burning as well, it's worth getting used to those 2. I find it best to use them at low exposure (about 2%) then build up the shadows/ highlights gradually. Takes longer but gives a better finish. The smudge tool helps to smooth out the shading (25% strength works quite well), but keep it well away from any lines/edges. All this was done inside careful pen-tool selections over about a dozen layers. I'd use more than that, but photoshop crashes on me at about layer 13... Hope that helps .

Futurama Nerd: Well someone's mind is going all teenage . I was going for the comfy look, so yeah, they've just done whatever you like together. Or not.
Venus: That's pretty much it, as long as the lines are kept on a different layer from the colour it's easy to correct mistakes. I normally don't bother with seperate layers for 'hair colour', 'skin colour' etc, the lineless last pic needed them though.
Kloudes: Thanks, but, nah - I'm not that good just yet... Give it a year or three.
Asab: And also the same nighty Leela wears in various eps. I do my research y'know .
RS 2thou: Just saw some of your art on TLZ today. It's getting better with every pic you do. Keep the good stuff coming dude .
Mint: Thanks for dropping by!
Young_and_Angry: Always like reading your comments - they've got a crazy vibe.
3/4 of a Jesus: You're welcome . Booze up!

Don't you mean lack of memories? Leela has lots to worry about (like me). I'm quite tempted to draw the drunken twister game. If I ever get time... at the moments there's lots of lots of exams and job hunting and threats of eviction and bye. Originally posted by Zmithy: punk Amy coming up.
