Where does everyone here get their ideas for the fanfics that they write?   Those detective/cop shows I like inspired me to write Cold Diamonds.  Plus, my days as a Sonic fan inspired me to write Delivery to Mobius.

In my upcoming fanfic, Cult 55 the idea came to me from a dream I had about Family Guy!  Anyone else?

I get my ideas from various shows that I watch and the episodes of Futurama that have interesting ideas.

I'm writing a fanfic on the new new justice team with the whole crew as superheroes.

Different things inspire me to write, and I've never written a Futurama fic just because I want to and then tried to find an idea, I've always had the idea first and then wanted to write it. While movies, TV, video games and music can bring forth inspiration of various levels, it's usually the simplest things that spark my imagination more. Off the top of my head I can recall being inspired by odd looking skies several times, my reflection in a bathroom tap and even just a scrunched-up piece of paper. Other sci-fi shows and, yes, vivid dreams have also prodived building blocks for things I write. Inspiration is something you just can't think up, it has to surprise you to a certaain extent, and I think that's where the best ideas generate from.   :)

While I haven't written any Futurama stuff just yet. I normally get inspiration from Music or some more detailed dreams. I can just listen to a piece of music and just come up with something so vivid in my head.

I got inspiration for my one and only futurama fanfic (so far) from the Leela-Fry love story, I always thought it was a really well-made relationship in the series, even though Fry is so stupid and the fantastic stories in the episodes they still managed to convey a serious emotional feeling, I actually felt sorry for Fry when he didn't get Leela.
Sadly I usually get the beginning and the ending done firste and then I fight through two or more boring chapters to get the parts of my story I like down in writing.
Also, in the writing style I got inspired from the Red Dwarf book series.
