Yeah, Hermes as Wakka is going to be next actually.

As for the hairstyle, the writer decided that both Fry and Leela's hairstyles would be the same as normal. Hermes' will be a mix between his and Wakka's, while Amy's will be a black version of Rikku's style.

Great, Kif!

I haven't ever seen FF, but that doesn't make the pictures any less great. I adore the pattern on Leela's skirt. Hell, the clothes are so detailed overall! It must have been a fiddly job. And that crack on Bender's face is a nice detail too.

Just FYI, I've passed the general consensus regarding Leela's hair on to him, and depending on what he says, you may just see a replacement picture soon with a different style more suiting to Yuna. Whether it'll be strictly Yuna's or a mix (i.e. Yuna's but with Leela's ponytail) I don't yet know.

So what's the deal with the story? Whose writing it? What's the basic plot (i've never played the game) And is the release date fairly near? I'd assume so since you're already releasing art from it.

Well, in the game, the character Tidus lives in a high-tech city called Zanarkand, but it's attacked by a creature called Sin, and afterward Tidus finds himself in what seems to be another world that has little technology.  (That's an interesting reversal of what happens to Fry.)  He meets the various characters who've been discussed, most of whom are friendly, though Seymour is one of the villains.  Yuna is on a pilgrimage to defeat Sin, and Tidus joins her.  Along the way they fall in love, of course.  Toward the end we find out the real connection between the two worlds and lots of other secrets.

You might have heard that in the English language version of the game, the voices of Wakka and Kimarhi are done by John DiMaggio.  Also, James Arnold Taylor, the voice of Tidus, did background voices on Futurama.

Whoa! Slow down, Venus!

It's being written by Anime Freak Scotty at the Groening Fanworks Central, and he's only just started the fic as far as writing goes, so I don't think it'll be out anytime soon. I just started on the characters as soon as he had matched up the main ones more for fun and a challenge than anything.

Okay, both Anime Freak Scotty and myself agree that the normal Leela style looks better and that Leela doesn't really suit Yuna's style. None-the-less, here's what she looked like with it anyway. It's non-shaded... I'm not shading a draft pic that's not going beyond that. This is just for you guys.

Heya, this is GKScotty the author of the fic. Just to answer a few questions...

The fic's story will follow and parody the story of FFX, with a few twists to keep it getting too predictable. I'll be releasing it in dribs and drabs over the next few months, if all goes to plan and I don't get my usual writers block. It's being written in script format.

Kimahri will be played by Zoidberg.

I'll see what I can do about hurting Rikku/Amy, but don't expect too much.   

An enormous thank-you to Kif for drawing these pics, despite being warned that I might never even start writing. Hopefully these pics will motivate/guilt me into finishing the fic.   

And officially I like the normal Leela hair better. She doesn't look like Leela anymore with the Yuna hair.

Venus: I'm trying to write the fic so that everything is explained plotwise, but a few of the jokes may go over your head if you're not familiar with the FF series/RPGs in general. (that mention of Mako Reactors for example) Sorry, unavoidable really.

A little question for you folks. I'm really stuck for a good title for this fic. Anybody got any ideas?

(one last footnote. That Futurama/Chrono Tigger idea seems to fit. Try it!)

You can read the whole script of the game by going here, scrolling down, and clicking "Game Script" (it doesn't allow direct links).  But it might be confusing without actually being able to see what's going on.

I forgot to mention before that after encountering Sin, Tidus thinks he might have been transported a thousand years into the future, and he discovers that his old city is just a ruin.

I agree with you two. The hairstyle of "this Yuna" (- I don't know the FF characters -) is nice, but it is not leela-ish enough to fit to Leela.

Besides the arm/shoulder guard issues, and the glasses being the wrong colour, that's crazy. The way you've crammed Hermes' build into Wakka's uniform is awesome.

It does seem like it would have been a difficult conversion, concidering just about everything on each character is different. 

Incidentally, the '37' on the necklace, nice touch.

Those are really spectacular, Kif White.  I especially love Bender as Auron, and Fry as Tidus. Even though I don't much care for Tidus as a character on FFX, Fry makes the look work for some reason. And his expression as he's trying to hold the sword upright is great. ^^ After Amy as Rikku, are you going to do one of Zoidberg as Kimahri?
