Actually, in most cases, TV-DVDs are a far better deal than most regular movies. Take season four of the Simpsons, with 22 episodes at about 20 minutes each, that's 440 minutes for about forty bucks, while the average movie is maybe 120 minutes for 20 bucks. Which means that:

Average TV-DVD: One dollar for every eleven minutes.
Average movie DVD: one dollar for every six minutes.
