From South Park Studios:
This week on South Park: "Best Friends Forever"
Cartman is jealous when Kenny gets the last new portable gaming device before the toy store runs out. Will Cartman and Kenny be able to stay best friends forever?

Man, this episode sounds like something from Season 2... looking forward to it, although I'm wondering how the hell Kenny can afford a portable gaming device.

Nice to see a new story that actually seems like it's going to centre around Kenny. It really hasn't even been worth calling him a main character lately.

Come on, you don't know what a PSP is? Shame.

The PSP stands for the PlayStationPortable, which was just released this week in the USA. It's the most advanced handheld gaming system ever and it's had a very popular launch. Hard to get your hands on one.

I guess Parker and Stone are attempting a satire of this recent launch...

@Beamer: That too...  ;)

I was really looking forward to seeing retards in wheelchairs this week.
Still, a Kenny-centric episode can never be a bad thing.

Hmm. the PSP and Terry Schiavo in one episode. South Park, I love thee.

I think it's funny how they express their views through the characters.

Kenny was Terri Schiavo. This episode was ok. It had a few funny parts, that's all I'll say about it.

I said it right from the beginning of the episode...this is the best one of season 9 so far. I love how the head angel kept huffing the dry-erase marker. It kind of pissed me off when they introduced the Terry Schiavo thing(because that's some seriously lazy writing) but they nailed the issue dead on.

All the oldies are returning. Kenny, Satan, what's next? Mr. Hankie?

I agree, it would have been better off without the Terry Schiavo thing. They could have still put Kenny on life support, but there was no need to be so blantent about it, I know South Park does this a lot, and usually I think it's good, but in this case it feels like the didn't have enough material so they tacked it on. Oh well. The new Satan looks bad ass. Fantastic episode, especially the LOTR references. Favourite of season 9 so far.

YESS!!! After a three-episode dryrun, South Park finally starts kicking some ass. When theorizing why exactly the show wasn't that good this season, I thought maybe it was because there weren't any good current events to tackle. But now with the fusion of PSP AND Terri Schiavo, this episode triumphed. I just laughed the whole way through, with Cartman's BFF necklace, the missing will page, the call-back to the Mormons, and the Keanu Reeves statue. Great, just great.

I saw this one at a friends house who has cable and it's definately the best of the season so far.
"It's ten times more spectacular than the battle at the end of the Lord of The Rings!"
Personally, I didn't mind the Terri Schiavo storyline. But, who was right about them parodying it? Ooh yeah, another storyline I predicted.

For you UK people if you have sky then you like to know that the Paramount channel is going to show South Park on Sundays at 9pm. I don’t know what season they going to show though.

Well then you must be out of luck, because Mr. Garrison recently got a sex change and cursed him off the show...

I agree though, Mr. Slave ruled.

I just saw Best Friends Forever. I thought it was pretty average - the whole episode just moved too slow, and there were very few funny lines (although the "Japanese people don't have souls" bit had me laughing for quite a while  :p ). Still, the episode was fairly boring - not something I'd be inclined to watch over & over again.

6.5/10

On a side note, what the hell is with all the design changes? New-look Satan, new-look Hell's Pass Hospital, Kenny's mother in a dark green T-shirt rather than a light green "I'm With Stupid" shirt. What, with Mr. Garrison being a woman now and the South Park Elementary design changing half-way through Season 8, I'm beginning to get really annoyed by all these changes...

I'm sure Butters will play a big role in the season a little later - it's not like Matt & Trey to go too many episodes without a Butters-centric one. After all, we do have that episode where Butters sees dead people to look forward to... possibly.

Anyway, the reason they haven't shown up as much lately is simply because there hasn't been a Season 9 episode so far that's prominently taken place in the school yet... But still, I wouldn't worry about that, they tend to come around every few episodes anyway.

You notice when a lot of cartoon shows get into later seasons, they don't have time to show all the older characters again. You can see this most prominently in the Simpsons. The only show I know of that didn't do this at all was Futurama, that pretty much brought back every single character that was ever seen each season.

I'm pretty sure that last time we saw them was in the first Season 8 episode, "Good Times With Weapons". And I guess you could say that a large part of that episode centers on Butters...

Nasty: Clyde, Craig, Token, Jimmy and everyone else have had roles long since 801, not necessarily as a main character. 'Quest For Ratings' in particular.

There was also that scene with Clyde in Douche & Turd.

EDIT: New episode info from South Park Studios:

Episode 905: "The Losing Edge"
If the boys can lose just one baseball game, it gets them out of playing the boring sport for the entire summer.

Sounds interesting - there are very few South Park episodes focussed around sports. The only one that really comes to mind is Conjoined Fetus Lady. Although if this is anything like the past few episode descriptions, it may only cover the first 4 or 5 minutes of the episode...

I'm guessing that this episode will probably suck ass. But I can't blame them. The second half of season 8 was so good. After a season that good when you've exhausted so many ideas, it's bound to be crappy for a while.
