Ugh, what happened to the Iron Chef thread? Didn't we have one a while back?

Anyway, I caught the american version last week, with William Shatner hosting. It was pretty cool. And a couple nights ago, I caught the infamous Bobby Flay match-up(the japanese version is so much cooler). What bullshit. Bobby Flay is dishonorable. Jumping on the cutting board like that...what a stupid american showoff.

Then last night I caught the Carrot Battle. It was cool too, but there was no audience, which sucked. Having a huge audience cheer on some chef throwing in soy sauce really adds something to the show.

Anyway, to sum it all up, Iron Chef is the coolest gameshow. If you consider it a gameshow. Which I don't. But it's still the coolest.

Jeopardy is far and away my favorite game show.  I can't stand Millionaire or its subsequent sellout clones.  At least on Jeopardy the contestants have to answer (in the form of a question) immediately instead of being jerked off by Philbin.  The only thing wrong with Jeopardy is its tendency to water down its questions for "special" games.  I steamroll everyone I watch Jeopardy with during the normal games.  If I turn on the TV and it's a college, teen, or celebrity game I just turn it off.  I certainly don't agree with LilyRose about Trebeck.  He's no more of an ass than any other game show host...especially Regis and that woman from Weakest Link.

I'm not sure I understand the attraction to Iron Chef.  There's only so much cooking I can take before I lose interest.  Even the hilariously English-dubbed judging section doesn't make up for the show's overall lack of interesting material.  I guess if one was interested in the culinary arts, then it would be more entertaining.

Oh, sorry...

I personally like Wheel better than Jeopardy, but that's just me.

I watch Iron Chef for the secret ingredient.  Sometimes it's something like live eels.  And Japanese people are just fascinating . . .

The lack of interesting material is what sells Iron Chef. I love how the audience cheers for everything, and how the announcers over-dramatize the show. "He's decided to not use soy sauce! What a bold move!" And they even have replays. It's the greatest thing ever.

I like the Iron Chef, like FJ said, for its dramatic quality. Also, just for the exotic foods.

Although I grew up with Price is Right, my vote goes for Millionaire because the rules are so simple, anyone can pick it up and watch it. I also like it that I get some questions right that others miss. My favorite: "What color is Big Bird from Sesame Street?" "Sorry, I don't watch much TV."

Price is Right is golden, too.  My favorite game is Plinko.

Anyone remember that short-lived attempt at a Price is Right Prime-time?  With some guy other than Bob Barker?

Well, i like the Weakest link, just to watch Anne taking the piss out of the contestants! How could you miss it out? And also, Millionaire was great, but now it is boring as it is on almost allways every night! I used to love it when it was on 2 weeks straight every 6 months!

I say Price is Right because if you are watching it, it means you are at home and not at work/school. Plus they have a differant game every five minutes so it never gets old.

Ohh, neat thread. Beat the Geeks was my favourite. I liked Distraction with that British guy when I got the channel too. Price is Right is too repetitive.

I haven't watched The Price is Right since Barker left, isn't Drew Carey supposed to be hosting it now?

Price is Right has to be my favorite game show, probably for the exact same reasons Binder said, it just feels so fresh and new when I see it because I only see it during the summer and when I'm on break, and the many games keep it fresh at all times.  Drew Carey does a decent job hosting the show, it doesn't turn me off or anything.

Jeopardy is next, I own anyone who watches with me and I practically get all of the questions during the Teen/Celebrity editions. Trebek does give off condescending vibes, but he doesn't really come off as an asshole to me. Also, I miss his old facial hair.

Not a huge fan of Wheel of Fortune. The puzzles get too easy and boring, Pat Sajak annoys me, and Vanna White's getting too old.

Other than that, never really watched any other game shows, except Who Wants to Be A Millionaire (meh), which practically everyone's seen.

I saw one last night on speed channel where three rednecks guessed how fast a car would do a 1/4 mile, and the closest one got money. What the hell, America.
