Hey, did anyone happen to catch Comedy Central's Shorties Watching Shorties last night?  I watched it just to see what it was.  I couldn't get into it.  I didn't even crack a smile.  There's nothing funny to me about vulgar cartoons with precocious smart allecky kids or babies.  In the meantime I'm sticking to Futurama and South Park.

For those who watched it, what did you think?

I think this belongs in the TV forum.

Wasn't it just animating previeously recorded standup? I thought it was pretty funny, but the babies were the worst part of it.

Yes, this is the worst show imaginable.  The stand-up bits are alright, even though they're just clips from stand-up specials Comedy Central has run to death. The Flash animation is ugly, the babies are stupid, and it's generally just a waste of time. Ugh.

Good= Aaron Augenblick. I love the guy, got to talk to him at a film festival two years back. His cartoons online at Augenblickstudios.com are far superior to the dreck he's forced to bring life to on this new show. I love Dane Cook[met him briefly, too] and some of the other comedians featured, but I think that the animating-comedians thing worked better on Dr. Katz[especially Jim Gaffigan's manatee bit] and that these animations are much funnier when shown during commercial breaks like how they previewed the show. Just know that poor Aaron wrote none of this. He just animated it.

I thought this would be an actual show, you know? But it's just stand up bits animated. The babies don't make any sense...they know all the terms but don't know what they mean. Well obviously they know because they used them in the right context...blargh. Seems like a useless show.

This show sucks away what makes stand-up lovable - Imagining it for yourself.

I agree 100% Speli. I've seen this show a few times and it leaves nothing to the imagination.

All of these done on that show were previously shown as little commercial bits for the stand-up shows - which is where they should continue to place them.

Although, the one part in the story about the guy cleaning out his dead aunt's closet and 'finding' 'a hand-crank vibrator' are still as funny as they were as commercials.

Although I do enjoy alot of the stand up parts, there really is no need for this show.  I perfer to see the Stand ups and not just weird cartoons.

So I will pass on this show and just watch the stand ups when they come on Comedy Central
