Lightsaber effects have been changed.

You mean they fixed up the bit where Obi-Wan's lightsabre goes partially invisible when pointed in the general direction of the camera?

Good.

I should probably show some fanboy outrage regarding that, but I feel that it might be an improvment. (Although the Hayden thing at the end bugs me).

A Star Wars TV series has been confirmed, for probable release in 2006. No details.

I'm interested to see what they'll do with this...

Must have gotten that from his clone/father.

This TV series sounds okay, as long as they lock George Lucas from the writing room and get the guys who wrote farscape to do the writing.

Will there be an eventual release of the whole saga in a box set, I wonder? Late 2005/early 2006 maybe?

This may well have already been posted but fellow UK fans should tune into the biography channel tonight at 8:00. Although I can't quite believe it myself, the brand new 2 hour documentry "Empire of Dreams" (yes the one included on the upcoming OT DVDs!) is being shown.
Part of me wants to NOT watch it so that I can enjoy watching it fresh on DVD in just over a week. But I know full well that I'm too impatient to do that.

Actually i've just realised something. The program tonight is on from 8:00 - 10:00. Including adverts the actual running time must be just under 1 1/2 hours? The documentry on the DVDs is 2 1/2 hours long! This must be an edited version to generate hype. Oh well i'll still be tuning in   :)

Lucas, you have earned a little bit respect back.

The questions now will be, will it be real life one or animated? The real life one is possible now thanks to computer graphics and digital editing. And what will it be about? I hope they will fill in the little events that happened between the movies such as Lando losing Cloud City and Shadow's of The Empire.

I don't think there's enough material left within the OT timeline for an entire TV series without treading where the novels and what not have already gone.

Oh, and anyone else see the irony in this? :

You know, I've got offshoot novels, I've got offshoot comics. So it's very easy to say, "Well, OK, that's that genre, and I'll find a really talented person to take it and create it." Just like the comic books and the novels are somebody else's way of doing it. I don't mind that. Some of it might turn out to be pretty good. If I get the right people involved, it could be interesting.

....I don't.   :(

You're wrong to think there's not enough left of the OT timeline for a TV series. It's a whole damn galaxy...the tv show doesn't have to be about main characters from the movies(I wouldn't want it to be). There's plenty of material to cover.

(please note: that does not mean a Star Wars TV show is in any way a good idea)

He said he's sort of preserving the feature film part for what has happened, and he's already gone back and changed what happened in several scenes of the feature films twice. Maybe it's not irony, I'm pretty sure he's contridicting himself.

You're right though, there is a bunch of stuff they would do if they don't include the main characters. I never even thought of that. "Star Wars Glaxies: The TV series, every Sunday at 7"

Ok so more rumors about the TV show, sounds interesting if there is any truth to it, even though a pre-new hope Han Solo & Chewbacca would be much cooler this would still be very good stuff. Any way heres a post pulled from newsasew.com:

"We're treating this only as a BIG rumor and a newsbite, because of the source, but a small gossip newsletter called Popbitch is claiming that Lucasfilm is developing a Star Wars TV series titled "The Adventures of Luke Skywalker", with Lawrence Kasdan and KEVIN SMITH slated to direct episodes. Either they've got a big inside scoop, or this is a crazy fan rumor gone awry. Perhaps Kevin can clear this one up for us."

Sounds like it could be very interesting...

Isn't Lawrence Kasdan dead?  Or is it the person who directed RotJ dead?  Didn't Kasdan direct RotJ?

So, is the tv show supposed to be live-action or animated?  I have a hard time imagining a big-budge live action hour-long sci-fi tv show on tv right now.  Plus, if they're doing a "what happpens between episodes 3 and 4" deal, they would have to recast so many characters, which we'd all hate.

Lawrence Kasdan wrote the screen play for Empire and Jedi, but has directed quite a few things, and is alive. Richard Marquand directed ROTJ and unfortunately died of a heart attack in 87 I believe.
Well this thing is meant to be live action, but I totally agree this will be a damn hard thing to pull off, especially if they are trying to go with a action and green screen thing like in the current movies, but im sure Lucas and the companys will throw all the money thats needed at the project. Plus theres gonna be another Clone Wars animated series and since this was so big most likely another animated series after that.
I dont know it could be re-cast in a young indiana jones style but to what affeck, we would just have to wait and see I guess...

Actually, in one of the extended universe books, Greedo is revealed to be an idiot kid, fresh from the Rodian area of Corellia. He was meant to miss. His assignment to get Solo was intended to fail, in order to
a) wipe out the last of Greedo's family (Greedo).
b) have the death of one of Jabbas henchmen to blame on him, in case Jabba needed an excuse to kill him/set some real bounty hunters on him.

Damn, I knew I'd fucked up somewhere. Naar Shadda (correct spelling) was where Greedo came from. Corellia was where Han Solo came from. Gah! How could I make such a basic error?

Greedo was ultimately a pawn, Nurdy. Pawns can sometimes become kings. Just imagine if he hadn't missed.

I dont claim to know anything about the extended universe books (I assume that's were this info is from), but since the films are the offical version of Star Wars then I think that Greedo is from Tatooine. On the Episode I DVD there's a scene where Anakin has a fight with a young Rodian who turns out to be Greedo. Greedo thinks Anakin cheated in the podrace. After the fight somebody warns Greedo "One of these days you'll get in big trouble"  :laff: Quite a nice little touch really.

Greedo WAS Never on Tatooine as a kid. He was born on Rodia and when his family was attacked by hunters, they fled to Nar-Shada where Greebo got hooked into Bounty Hunting and left with two other Bounty Hunters after getting his family killed by telling the Imps about a Rebel cadre that was on the same tower level as his family, which the Imps just leveled with massive firepower killing everyone but his family.

Greedo was barely on Tatooine 5 minutes when he was iced by Han, He was hired by Jabba who liked Greedo's Rodian spirit. He was then turned into a drink by Wuther, the assistant bar tender of the Mos Eisley Cantina (10 Nurdy points for the real name of it) and served to Jabba as a tribute. End of story.

All Rodians look-a-like have the same mentallity as Greedo anyway.
