Well, final four of the season - nobody's saying that the series itself is offically over yet. But yes, they'll be airing on Friday, February 10, from 8:00pm to 10:00pm. If I lived in the US, I would totally abandon any plans I had that day just to watch... not that I'd ever HAVE any plans, but still...

George Bush doesn't care about black puppets! Ahem. Man, that was a great two hours. I don't think I'll be able to rate the episodes individually, I'll just say that all were superb, but the first and fourth really stood out as I was watching them. I think the break-neck pace of the final four episodes (no doubt the result of trying to cram half a season of plot into four episodes) really made them outstanding. The joke density was amazing, there were a lot of blink-and-miss-them sight gags and callbacks (even without the final episode's near perfect echo of the pilot). I almost did a spit take at the Mr F style 'different!' music at the beginning of the second episode. The few jabs at their cancellation were pretty good as well (Buster's "I kind of like Skating With Celebrities" ). The only thing I'm not too sure about is Lindsay being adopted. It was a bit too much of a change, and wasn't set up enough for my liking. Were there any hints to it before tonight's batch of episodes?
I agree with newhook on the marriage thing, that did need to be either capitalized on more, or wrapped up.
Other things worthy of being spoiler-ed: Annyong's return was great, too bad it took so long. GOB with Ann was pretty funny, mainly because of how subtly and completely it was set up earlier in the season. Lucille being busted in the final moments provided both a believable mirror of the pilot, and also a new-yet-familiar direction for the show to take when/if it resumes. On that note, how awesome would an Arrested Development movie be? Of course, I'm aware that it was just a joke (please let me be wrong), but it would be great. I keep thinking of great jokes as I wait for my internet connection to stabilize so I can post this (BTW if this posts multiple times, it isn't my fault). I'm still cracking up about that stupid little 'different!' sting. All in all, I feel quite satisfied, but I still would love to see more. The mark of a perfect 'likely series ending but we hope only a season ending' ending.

Out of all of the perverse, taboo things discussed in last night's episodes, why is it that the joke that most disturbed me involved GOB sleeping with Ann? I know it was built up throughout the season (but I did NOT see it coming), but to me it came almost out of the blue. And there was the artless way of telling the audience they weren't cousins that Ann was 18, just in case the show hadn't crossed enough taboo lines already. There's probably a lot more I want to get into, but I need to wait until the episodes are finished downloading. All I can say is that if this truly is the end of the show, it went out on a very high note.

The way it ended doesn't completly close any prospects of another season either. Originally posted by Roy Bluth: Yeah. Does anyone else have a feeling of satisfaction? Or completion? Or anything at all? Originally posted by newhook_1: I did actually. Mostly because it ended the way the series started. The series almost seems complete. I think they did a great job of covering their bets either way. If this really was the end of the series, then we couldn't have asked for a better one. On the other hand, if the show does continue in some form, there's plenty of material left to work with. Originally posted by newhook_1:
Though, I was a little dissapointed that they didn't do anything with the fact that George-Michael is actually married to Maybe legit. Sort of a loose end. If it makes you feel any better, there's no way that the marriage could be legal. First of all, even if Lindsay is adopted, George-Michael and Maeby are still cousins, and I don't think that it's legal for first cousins to marry in California. Second, and perhaps more importantly, George-Michael and Maeby are only 16, and I'm sure that it's not legal for 16-year-olds to marry in California. Originally posted by Ranadok:

Michael: "That's not a family. It's just a bunch of people who have our nose. And Aunt Lindsay."
George-Michael: "You mean she's not my real aunt?"
Michael: "I mean that's not her real nose." Originally posted by Ranadok:

Is it just me, or did that bit not really make sense? Isn't she supposed to be in the same year of school as George-Michael? Why is she two years older than him all of a sudden? Spoilerrific!

question...did anyone notice that the orange hand from Buster's room that was given to Lupe was somehow back in the Bluth's possession? what's with that...or did i miss something in an earlier episode also... Ann sure changed in last episode, what a difference in appearance. the last episode was nice and sad, how it came around like that. i was like awww but at the same time...awww i liked annyong's short yet important reappearance. he said his name was hello...is the letter "l" in the korean alphabet? i don't meant to jack on any of you asians out there...but as many people know some asian languages don't have that letter in it...hence it becomes mispronounced Lol, i just noticed the callback with Buster and the nurse (same actress) and him saying he'd put a fig in his mouth i can't wait for season 3 on dvd! and btw, what was the name of tht off-network teen drama they censored? Veronica Mars? or was it a movie. and FOX owned UPN channel 13, something happened recently though and now it isn't called UPN anymore. I think it joined with ktla channel 5. of course this is just relevant to the LA/OC area... also, I don't like Jason Bateman's appearance in te last 4 episodes. His hair was messy and he looked a bit pudgier, like how he looked in his guest star appearance on Scrubs

Well, I'm not going to press the point, but they seemingly got an offical marriage certificate in the mail. Anyway, it's not that big a deal, I just thought it was a missed oppertunity for comedy gold in the epilouge. It can always be a plot line if the show gets picked up by Showtime, which we all pray it will. *Edit* And Wikipedia confirms that their marriage couldn't have been legal in California: California: no statutory minumum, those under 18 must receive approval of a superior court judge and parental consent.
I'd doubt Michael or a judge approved.

Can anybody agree with me that Franklin is the best puppet character on television? "I don't need none of yo' tired-ass country club, ya freak bitch!" As soon as I saw him return for the final four I knew it was going to be good. Narrator: In an effort to "hip" up his act, Gob had briefly introduced a puppet. [Gob is acting as a black puppet named Franklin in front of the family] Gob: [as Franklin] Can I tell you something, my man? Gob: [as himself] Sure, Franklin. Gob: [as Franklin] You are one cool mother [bleep] Gob: [as Franklin] Speaking of mothers, let me give that oatmeal some brown sugar. [the puppet 'kisses' Lucille] George Sr.: Get off my wife, you bastard! [strangles Franklin] Gob: [as Franklin] What's the matter with you? Gob: [in the present] Franklin said some things Whitey wasn't ready to hear. Michael: Gob, weren't you also mercilessly beaten outside of a club in Torrance for that act? Gob: He also said some things that African-American-y wasn't ready to hear either.

yeah i was worried his character might be a bit overused after the previous episodes he was in. but i was quite surprised by the outcome. i usually don't take a liking to puppets (uhh, besides kermit...and triumph )
